Tradition and luxury entwine in Cambodia's charming wooden houses - SilverKris

"An intimate, art-filled boutique near the Siem Reap River featuring three exquisitely restored wooden houses set in tropical gardens. The property displays striking antique Art Deco furniture and contemporary Khmer artworks by artists such as Lim Muy Theam; owners Nathalie Saphon-Ridel and Jean Pierre carefully disassembled and rebuilt two of the homes to join the original house. The standout is a 1940s Khmer House restored with guidance from a kru (Khmer spiritual master) and updated with modern conveniences like air-conditioning and new bathrooms. Service is warm and personal—staff treat guests like family, provide insider tips and tailor bespoke itineraries (for example, a picnic at quieter Angkor temples)." - Claire Knox

Firstly, a huge thank you to the wonderful Sopharin, who helped plan every part of our stay with such care and kindness. Her local knowledge and beautiful, warm presence made everything seamless and truly special. She went above and beyond to ensure our stay was as perfect as it was.||Maison Polanka is a hidden paradise - peaceful, elegant and surrounded by lush plants that instantly soothes the soul. The tranquil pool was surrounded by butterflies, adding to the serene, magical atmosphere.||The homes are beautifully furnished with a blend of traditional Cambodian design and thoughtful modern touches. Every detail has been considered, making the stay feel both luxurious and personal.||The food was exceptional, delicious and beautifully presented and all the team at Maison Polanka were so kind and attentive.||Sopharin booked our day tour of the temples alongside an unforgettable afternoon at the Kulen Elephant Forest. We also visited Apopo to learn of the hero rats, whose work in landmine detection is both inspiring and vital.||Hands down the most beautiful place we have ever stayed. I could quite happily stay there for several weeks and not even venture outside of the gates! But then you would miss beautiful Siem Reap. ||Maison Polanka isn’t just a place to stay, it’s a place to connect, unwind and experience the heart of Siem Reap. I cannot recommend it highly enough.||Thank you to Sopharin and team, we miss you all!

A beautifully idyllic place tucked away with the most fabulous, kind and attentive staff. We were pampered each day and enjoyed the delicious food, tropical gardens and pool. Tuk tuk driver RaRa was great and took us to temples. Cooking class and prior trip to market for ingredients was very special. We stayed a week and enjoyed both green and yellow rooms. A magical place that even has two white rabbits! Highly recommend and would love to go back.

We had an amazing one week stay at Maison Polanka. We were a group of 8 so we booked The Maison. Each room in The Maison was uniquely and beautifully decorated and we all loved it. The terraces for each room also gave us a nice outdoor space for some quiet time. We all absolutely loved the grounds of the property. It was so lush and green and beautiful. The pool was also a great size to swim and hang out at. The food at breakfast was excellent with great local and western options and their freshly baked breads were so delicious. We also loved the restaurant food they serve at lunch/dinner. Every dish was delicious and the chef is absolutely adorable. We loved all the staff who really made this stay very special for us. They were amazing from the moment we booked, helping us with a lot of pre-arrival planning and bookings. And from the moment we arrived till we left, the staff were so friendly, fun and warm and took such good care of us. They made us feel so at home, we really didn’t want to leave. Maison Polanka is a very special place and I couldn’t recommend this more!

A beautiful boutique hotel set in beautiful gardens with lots of authentic touches. The owner and staff are super friendly and are happy to help you sort tuk tuks out etc. our room overlooked the pool (The Green Room) it was very spacious and had a wonderful large balcony. In the room we found adaptor plugs, mosquito spray, sarongs for use by the pool and the fridge on the balcony was very handy. Tea and coffee were available in the room.|The pool wasn’t very big but big enough to swim in and very warm.|The breakfast gave lots of choice and was very nice. We had lunch and dinner here that too was also very tasty, great food.|We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and were sad to leave. If you go to Cambodia this is the place to stay.

We had a fantastic time in Maison Polanka. Our room was stunning, the gardens beautiful, an oasis of calm and peace. The staff were outstanding and the food was lovely. The pool was very good and it was so restful. Probably the best hotel on our trip and would love to return.

This delightful hotel is tucked away in a lovely garden beside a Wat in the outskirts of Sien Riep but not too far from the centre. Our rooms were beautiful, the owner and staff were very friendly and we had a lovely time relaxing by the pool and swimming after sightseeing. We enjoyed the food we ate at the hotel and the advice we were given by the owner about when was a good time to visit Angkor Wat was very helpful. We felt very lucky to be able to stay in such a quiet and peaceful place after what were sometimes quite strenuous and crowded ( although fascinating) excursions to temples. Thank you very much.

This was as personal as staying in someone's home but without the obligations! We went to Siem Reap market with June, the hotel chef and then cooked (simply) our ingredients. We learned so much about Khmer food, which made the whole of our trip to Cambodia so much better. She is also a seriously good cook - think Cambodian version of an Italian mama. Highly recommended.|Also, vegetables feature strongly in Khnmer cuisine. I am not veggie and loved the food. A vegetarian would be in heaven!

This is a wonderful, peaceful tropical haven in the middle of Siem Reap. Our family of 4 stayed four nights in July. The gardens and buildings are just beautiful and the staff couldn't be friendlier. They are able to arrange and book pretty much any activity, which makes life easy. The food is delicious and the breakfasts are copious for hungry teenagers! I wish they had a muesli option though. I can't recommend highly enough.
