The food here was exceptional—we’ll definitely be back! We came for a special dinner after getting engaged earlier in the day, and the staff went above and beyond to make us feel celebrated. Everything from the food to the service to the atmosphere was truly amazing. We’re already looking forward to coming back and trying more dishes from the menu. And whatever you do, don’t skip the crème caramel for dessert—it was absolutely incredible!

This is a very cozy and well run bistro. The staff were incredibly attentive and friendly. Every item we ordered from the menu was delicious and reasonably priced, especially for a Toronto find dining! We ordered the scallops, a side of veg, and the Japanese fried chicken to start, and then split their steak frites. The sauces were light but incredibly flavourful and it was cooked to perfection. Definitely recommend.

Such a great place to enjoy some amazing food. The steak and frites were so good, the duck confit is my top one choice, must try!!!! The French onion soup has a deep flavour to it, very very good. They also have some good wine selection, generally a great restaurant!

Not sure what is so Japanese about this French restaurant. Maybe because they say the scallops are from Hokkaido? I didnt have a single Japanese flavour even though we ordered a lot of items. Even Alo is more Japanese inspired and they don’t even advertise themselves as such. - Mussels were okay and the sauce tasted very buttery - Beef tartare was very bland. I was wishing there was a sour element in it. Or even salt. - Foie gras was balanced well with the dish - Short rib was tender - Duck confit was crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside - Steak frites was pretty bland Wish that the vegetables with the short rib and the duck had more thought into it instead of just being a random vegetable medley shared between the two. No dish in particular stood out at all, a sentiment that was echoed with the rest of my table-mates. I usually really like French food but this didn’t hit the mark. Food took forever to come. Not really worth the trek from the downtown core to eat here.

Really good food and cocktails! We got the Japanese chicken, and then the braised short rib and lamb. All of it was flavourful and fresh! Would definitely come back to try their steak frites.

Maison T is one of my favourite restaurants in Toronto and it remains a special spot in my heart. The service we got was very welcoming and friendly. Food is simply incredible and it lighted up my day. The place is not big but it is very clean the atmosphere was relaxing. I enjoyed my birthday dinner there and would always remember this wonderful place with its kind staff. Would definitely recommend to my friends and family.

Serendipity works in mysterious ways - we were just around the neighborhood looking for food and we stumbled upon this restaurant on Google Map (thanks google map) and we decided to give it a try. It was the most pleasant surprise we’ve ever had in Toronto. We were greeted by the very nice and friendly waitress who told us that the chef specialises in creating sauces and the sauces are indeed spectacular. We had the onion soup as starter and the soup was already made us very excited about what was about to come. Nothing special but it was created with care and effort and we know that this meal is gonna be special. For main course we have duck confit and wagyu steak. The beef was super tender and the mushroom sauce complimented the beef in created an amazing synergy between the too. The star of the night for me is the duck confit, where the skin is crispy but the inside of the duck is braised to be soft and juicy. We almost didn’t have the dessert but it was actually highlight of the night. The crème caramel with the orange slices add a lot of layers to the crowd pleasing dessert, but the cream on top added the savory and saltiness to the dessert is the cherry on top that we didn’t know we needed. The almond and coconut panna cotta is rich on its own, but the sesame crisp on top added so much texture that we just couldn’t stop eating. And the chocolate cake with the raspberry (or redcurrant?) and pistachio sauce also make us twitch in the back of our throat, and the fruity sauce is just balancing out the bitterness in the dark chocolate cake and make the flavours sparkled in our mouth. The manager of the restaurant greet us with love and joy and introduce us to the chef. All the staff treated us like friends and we appreciate their kindness. We love the environment and the coziness and even the art on display gives character to the restaurant. We will be coming back and we look forward to the next time!

Google
I dropped by for dinner for my birthday with some friends. Probably one of the nicest and friendliest staff that I've encountered while dining out We ordered a bunch of items off the menu but the French onion soup and duck confit were probably one of the best that I've had at a Toronto French restaurant Definitely would go back again.

Yelp
Their reservation process is all online / over phone texts, but they are so thorough in reading and following every details of each guest. They knew my husband's name, his and my food preferences/ dietary restrictions, our occasion and had everything ready upon out arrival. They immediately brought champagne for us and apple juice for my daughter to celebrate our anniversary. This guesture made our day extra memorable. The chef's wife Carolina is a sweet, smart and kind lady. She memorized our and all details. It makes you feel welcomed. And adds to the personal touch. She was able to spend some time with us sharing some reletable conversations, which also adds to the experience. And ofcourse food- 5/5, 3 of us loved every dish 5/5 with exception to mushrooms, they were decent but other 2 mains were out of the world. My chickpea ragout was a huge protien, veggie packed dish with 3 different sauces. Each veggie on the plate was cooked it perfection. Who said healthy food can't be delicious? So was steak which my husband ordered, the rub on the steak was unique and so was the sauce on it. The fries was thin crisp and tender at the same time, my daughter never had so many. Drinks - cocktails ( was small in size) it was delicious. Pretty unique. And so was the on tap IPA. At the end we were full, and were bot sure about dessert, but we're glad we ordered creme caramel to share, it was too good to be missed Have to find another good occasion to be enjoy this cozy french bistro with the japnese touch!

Yelp
Maison T is quietly tucked away at Toronto's Davenport residential neighbourhood. Located at the corner of Dupont & Shaw, you could easily drive right past this local gem if you are not looking for it. Chef Masa Tamaru from Japan & his wife Carolina have joined forces to create this lovely nest for the locals. They are open from Wednesday to Sunday. Their website only shows some of what they have on the menu. Eg. the Tempura Mushroom we had this time round was not an item they advertised on their website menu. All their items are reasonably priced compared to other TO's French restaurants, so in this hyperinflation era, they were full on the few occasions we visited the past few months. Reservations is recommended. Bon Appétit!

Yelp
A hidden gem is the perfect definition for this French-Japanese fusion restaurant! It's a cute small place with the most attentive host. Their wine list consists of some superb options, as well as some Niagara options too! 1) Mushroom tempura- great crunch! 8/10 2) Japanese fried chicken- if you like karage, this is a nice twist of flavor - it comes with a nice sauce. It loses some of its crunch factor but the taste was fantastic. And the choice of dark meat made this a juicy bite! 9.5/10 3) seared scallops - delicious! The olive pate was a wonderful addition to highlight the flavour of the scallops! 10/10 4) duck confit- great sauce! The fat was rendered off so well, leaving the skin nice and CRISPY! Perfect texture. 10/10 The food is delicious and we can't wait to come back again!

Yelp
We had the seasonal tomato salad, steak, pork chop, duck and crème caramel. All the ingredients were local and fresh! Haven't experienced such freshness in every dish. Steak wasn't fatty but very juicy and tender. Comparable to high end $200 steaks. Duck skin was perfectly crispy. Meat was tender but could have been a little more herbal. Husband wife owned. Very friendly. Casual setting. Customers seem to be local, repeat.

Yelp
One of those places where you go and you're surprised you never heard of it before. The restaurant itself is actually quite a hike away from 'downtown downtown' but imo I think it's well worth it. I'd also recommend making reservations as it gets pretty packed dinner time. We ordered the Steak & Frites (33), Pan Roasted Chicken (30), and Seared Hokkaido Scallops (20). I thought the scallops had a very very unique taste with the tapenade, quite rich but I did wish the scallops were a bit larger. The Steak Frites were excellent. Perfect medium rare with a really nice peppercorn sauce on top. The fries also came with this yuzu (i think) mayonnaise. This dish was definitely the highlight for me. The Pan Roasted Chicken had a super creamy sauce and was cooked really nicely. Chicken was seasoned really well without being overly salty and portion wise 2 large pieces as well. Great experience, excellent service and the food was nice! Might need to make the trek out east :)

Yelp
Maison T took over the space that was occupied by Universal Grill for decades. They renovated and made it quite quaint and cute. The ambiance is alright. But the food here is the real star. French food from a Japanese chef? Don't mind if I do. Everything from the cocktail du jour to the seared scallops to the crispy dusk confit to the dessert were absolutely top notch, each one fabulously delicious and prepared with flair and finesse. The chef's wife took great care of us from the moment we stepped through the door. Attention s'il vous plait: Maison T is the real deal. I can't wait to come back.

Yelp
Celebrated a friend's birthday dinner here and it was such a cute bistro tucked away in the city. Very unassuming neighbourhood, felt like a hidden gem. The starters we ordered were amazing and my favourite part of our dinner, scallops and foie gras corn risotto. We also had the arctic char and duck which were great. Crème brûlée for dessert is a must. Service was so attentive and the chef's wife took care of us all night.

Yelp
Incredible cozy little gem in the north Annex. We enjoyed two superlative tasting menus to celebrate New Year's Eve and Valentine's Day respectively. Carefully crafted sequence of small, tasty delights each time. Wonderful fusion of Japanese and French cooking techniques and flavors. Excellent beverage service from Rachel, mixing drinks and selecting wines to match food. I hesitated to write this review for fear others will discover this delightful spot and make them even busier than they already are.

Yelp
Came here for a lovely dinner, I know they r very popular so had to make reservations days ahead. I live quite far from here but it was all worth the trip. First of all, the lady who is the chef's wife, she is amazing, so friendly and passionate about the food here. I appreciate all her recommendations. We got the following: 1. Duck Confit: I ordered it because this is a dish I would not make by myself due to how complicated it is, and I got to know the chef himself is known for his sauces. The skin was so crispy and the meat is so juicy, the sauce compliments the duck very well, but that potato, it's so crispy I don't know how they made it. I also never liked vegetables on the side for other restaurants but here the cauliflower and broccoli tastes different. They taste so much better I cleared the whole plate. Must be magic;) 2.French Onion Soup: I LOVE IT!!!!! Sooooooo good I can't describe it please just come here and order by urself. 3. Crème brûlée: extremely delicious, I actually never liked crème brûlée but this just is too good, the almond cookie too I wanted to buy a dozen to bring home 4. Foie gras: I have had Foie gras in several restaurants but I love how they put risotto under, with the sauce and the celery risotto it saves the Foie gras from being too much. 5. Arctic char: I personally don't eat fish so I can't comment on this, however the garnish looks amazing and my friend loved it. It was a great experience, absolutely will come back. Lovely atmosphere too!

Yelp
Go for the atmosphere, stay for the mussels and short ribs! Lovely, simple food with exquisite flavors. Chef Masayuki knows what he is doing with the combinations of taste.& texture and his lovely wife Carolina is the perfect hostess. Must visit when in Toronto!

Yelp
Its a good brunch when you don't get hungry again until dinner. Our server was gracious and sophisticated, she did a great job making us feel welcome even with a toddler in tow. I made a mimosa out of fresh black cherry juice and it was great!! They made a scrambled egg for my baby. Food is definitely French (ie on the heavy side) but came out the proper temperature. I enjoyed myself and the patio is lovely. They take reservations by phone but sadly never answered my instagram direct message despite reading it.

Yelp
Very enjoyable dinner. Highly recommended!!! Best onion soup ever much better than Michelin rated French cuisine in Vegas!

Yelp
Great little quaint bistro that serves excellent French food - our particular favourites were the French Onion Soup and the Duck Confit. Our waiter was also super nice and sweet, great vibes!

Yelp
I've been wanting to try this neighbourhood resto for ages. I'd been to the location's predecessor several years ago but hadn't had a chance to check out the new establishment which opened during COVID. I'm not a newbie to French cuisine and I had high hopes for this place. My dining companion works in a well-known French restaurant and she suggested at the last minute that we should try to see if we could get in. We called 10 minutes before we arrived and were told that there was space and could just squeak in for the last seating of the evening. Caroline, the owner and spouse of the talented chef Masayuki Tamaru, greeted us warmly. She had a lovely and welcoming energy about her. The menu selection of both food and wine isn't extensive but there is a clear intention there and a sense of quality over quantity. My companion ordered the steak frites and I settled upon the duck confit. The food was prepared to absolute perfection and our choice of wines by the glass were lovely complements. Of note was the Béarnaise sauce on the steak as well as the absolutely exquisitely done duck confit. Despite being full, we elected to push the envelope and ordered two different desserts just so we could share and sample both. Simple and beautifully done. Fully satiated and satisfied, we couldn't finish the white chocolate mousse and the chocolate terrine despite our best efforts. We will definitely be back so we can try ALL the items on the menu!

Yelp
What a hidden gem! Stumbled across this lovely bistro earlier this summer with some friends. We had the French onion soup, scallops, duck confit, and crème brûlée. The French onion soup in particular wad heavenly.

Yelp
Situated at the corner of Shaw Street and Dupont Street, Maison T has all the French bistro feels that will keep you warm and cozy through the winter. Chef Masayuki Tamaru has a rustic approach to regional specialties and offers dishes like mussels, duck confit, steak frites and other French classics, while emphasizing seasonal produce and quality proteins. Although the takeout menu is fairly edited, the options are, for the most part, crowd-pleasing (save for the escargots, perhaps!). To start, enjoy a crisp endive salad with Roquefort, walnuts, pears, black currant dressing or the trout tartare accented by peppery radish. The Japanese Fried Chicken with Yuzu mayonnaise and scallops with bacon tomato sauce are also lip-smackingly delicious. Portions are on the smaller side, so consider ordering extra appetizers or an additional entrée if you're hungry. The à la carte dinner menu is available Wednesday to Monday from 5:30 p.m. to 9 p.m.

Yelp
This was a real treat and a wonderful experience of French cuisine! The food is delicious, the flavors and how is put together. I enjoyed every minute of it. I look forward to next time.

Yelp
Every time I get take out from here my mind gets blown. Even the 3 dollar baguette is mind blowing. Need a sandwich? Try the insanely good daily sandwich. Want duck confit? It's amazing and makes my mouth water just thinking of it. Just had the Japanese fried chicken for the first. Light and delicious and the best JFC I've ever had. We are lucky to have this chef in our neighborhood.

Leigh K.

Yelp
Love this place. Their sandwiches and soups for lunch are amazing!! We've also tried the Japanese fried chicken and it was very delicious.

Yelp
This is a cute neighbourhood bistro. The food is well prepared and with care. It's hard to fine authentic French cuisine that is prepared well. It also has a super reasonable price point. We have been ordering takeout in an effort to support small businesses like this one. All of the dishes we're prepared with good ingredients and we're all tasty. The staff were also very helpful and friendly.
