Maistra Select Island Hotel Katarina

Lovely stay. Island in need of some tlc but it didn't detract from our overall experience. Lovely staff, good varied breakfast included in our rate and an efficient ferry service that ran on the hour to & from the town. If enjoying the island there are a few lovely bays with sunbeds and a small beach. There's also a lovely bar and restaurant at the beach. Great for relaxing and enjoying the glorious views of the bay. Would recommend.

Love, love, love this place. Peaceful and beautiful. Great room with amazing views. Huge breakfast with everything you could want. Amazing staff with special shout out to Sonja at the lobby bar. Ferry works like clockwork and again with great staff. AND it is a great value. I highly recommend this.

We spent two unforgettable weeks at Hotel Katarina, and it truly deserves 5 out of 5 stars.||The staff are the heart of this place — genuinely kind, happy, and always ready to help, yet never intrusive. They went above and beyond in every way. Even with the many dinner options, they happily prepared freshly cooked vegetables just the way we wanted. Every interaction felt personal and sincere.||The food is another highlight — a huge variety for both breakfast and dinner, and everything we tried (which was almost everything after two weeks!) was delicious and fresh.||The island itself is a dream: peaceful and car-free, perfect for relaxing walks and quiet evenings. The short boat ride to the city makes it easy to explore when you want more activity. The views of the old town from our room were simply breathtaking — waking up to that scene each morning was pure joy.||There’s a large beach with bars and easy sea access for kids, and plenty of smaller, more private rocky spots where you can enjoy the sea in peace.||We loved every moment of our stay and are already planning to return many times. Highly recommended for anyone who wants a mix of nature, comfort, and warm hospitality.

This is my wife and I's last night at Hotel Katarina and I have to say I cannot wait to return again. The hotel staff have been fantastic and so helpful. Especially the reception staff and Sonja at the drinks bar. The hotel itself exudes a bygone charm and is peaceful and relaxing. Our room is absolutely fine. In fact the staff went above and beyond to accommodate my wife's mobility issues and allocate a suitable room, which has a stunning view of Rovinj old town. The breakfast is very good with lots of choices and generally it is the same for the evening buffet meals. As other reviews have mentioned, there are some areas that could do with a little investment, but this in no way distracts from a wonderful hotel and island facility. We will certainly return to the Hotel Katarina.

First time in Croatia & hotel Katarina was a fabulous place to stay with easy access to mainland by ferry (free to guests) when we wanted to explore the beautiful Rovinj by day or night. Beach & other areas never felt crowded as there are so many places round the island to sunbathe & swim. Rrception staff always super helpful. We had half board & found a great variety of food in the restaurant. The only thing which could have improved was access to tea/coffee in the evenings. Only option was via the bar (which you pay for) & a couple of evenings we still couldn't get as machine out of order or being cleaned. But overall very happy with our choice of hotel & will definitely recommend. 🙂

A special mention to Valentina at the beach bar who was very friendly and very efficient! The beach is also immaculate and well worth a visit. It wasn’t too busy and it was great to have the shade of the trees and the gardens to walk in. It was so peaceful here. It was a short boat trip over from Rovinj and well worth coming here for half a day to relax. The views are beautiful and the sea is clear.

This is our fourth visit to the Katarina, and our eighth visit to Rovinj. We fell in love with the area years ago, and the Katarina is our favourite place to stay (we have tried other properties, and apartments) but Katarina feels unspoiled and full of character. We love the privacy of the quiet island, its shady coves and sitting areas and the boat trips, and the view from the island of the old town is unparalleled. Please don't ever change or 'update' this offering - you would lose something truly special. All the staff are so helpful and kind too!

We both had a fantastic stay at Hotel Katerina, the rooms, dining and outside areas were exceptional clean, the food choices were varied and great quality and the beach areas were fantastic. A special mention to Angeliya who was very welcoming and taught me some basic Croatian every day :) The ferries across to the port and town were prompt and fun and the shuttle service to the car park was quick and efficient. The best thing was the view back to Rovinj though, walking around this peaceful island gave you amazing views of the old town and some lovely quiet spots to sit and relax, just beautiful. Definately recommended and we will be back for sure!
