Came here on the recommendation of my hair stylist and was pleasantly surprised by many things.
First surprise, a Monday night around 6:30 or so and the place was packed!! It isn't a big place, but there is some seating outside and upstairs and all areas were busy. We ended up at the bar, as we didn't want to wait 30 minutes until a seat elsewhere opened. The inside was dark with greys, metals and woods permeating the small space. It felt very rustic chic, yet sophisticated at the same time. Facing the bar gave us a great view of their bar and their drink menu is massive with lots of whiskeys.
We used the QR code on the table tent to view their menu and chose a pour of Macallan 12 Sherry Cask along with their cocktail of the month which was a banana infused rum, demerara syrup and muddled mango. Obviously the Macallan was good, the rum drink was also very good. It had good flavor and was very fruity.
Their Local burger was a thick cut, perfectly cooked burger served open-faced on a toasted bun with carmelized onions, melted cheddar and a large piece of fresh romaine. I asked for a side of dill pickle aioli and that was a great complement to this burger, no ketchup needed. The star of the show was the fries. OH MY GOSH, the FRIES!!!! I went with the upcharge of the truffle fries with parmesan and they were so good! Thin, perfectly crispy, with some seasoning on them and then a good amount of parmesan. I was wanting great fries when I was looking for a restaurant on this night and M&M hit a home-run with these things!
Hubby opted for a Maize & Mash burger which had bacon, caramelized onion, gruyere cheese, fried egg and dill pickle aioli. He also was blown away by the burger. He opted for the plain fries and those were also very crispy, seasoned well and really good!
We ended the meal with the dark chocolate & orange budino. It was a pot of dark chocolate, kind of mousse-like, with whipped cream with a slice of the budino olive oil cake on the side topped with ctirus mascarpone, a bit of powedered sugar and orange zest. It was a perfect ending to a perfect meal.
Not cheap, the bill was $80 w/o tip, with the burgers hitting around $17, but well worth the price if you want what tasted like a craft burger, with gourmet fries and a fancy dessert! Kudos to your chef!!!
