At first, everything seemed fine at this hotel until I went for a massage ( at the Orchid Spa) The massage was honestly terrible and on top of that i was offered an inappropriate “finishing” service. When I refused, the “masseuse” didn’t even say goodbye didn’t allow me to get dressed in peace, and even started “cleaning “ the room while I was still getting dressed. The whole “salon” also had a very unpleasant smell. Because of this, the spa advertisement shown in the elevator is completely misleading and does not reflect reality at all, nothing professional.
To be fair the manager truly did her best to fix the situation and offered a complimentary massage for me and my friend. Unfortunately, the second massage was no better. It didn’t last the full hour (just like the first one) and was even stopped halfway because the receptionist loudly called the masseuse’s name, saying it was “enough.” She literally left me mid-massage. On top of that they then insisted that I should leave a good review. At this point it would be better to focus on providing proper service rather than asking guests for positive feedback.
Regarding the rooms the bathtub was leaking every time we took a shower, the handle was coming off completely and there was absolutely no soundproofing. Once again, the manager (who is genuinely great) changed our room without any issue. However, even in the new room, the shower water was leaking and the sink was clogged. On three separate occasions, our key card also didn’t work, forcing us to go back down to reception. Considering we were staying on the 22nd floor, this became extremely inconvenient and time-consuming.
The hotel is excessively noisy, day and night. There wasn’t a single night where we were not woken up by loud disturbances of all kinds. The lack of soundproofing makes rest nearly impossible. The hotel is also not very diverse and seems entirely focused on one culture, which unfortunately tends to be extremely loud at all hours.
The location is another major issue it is honestly catastrophic. You don’t feel like you’re in Dubai at all. The hotel is surrounded by constant noise, unpleasant smells, and a general lack of atmosphere. Quite frankly, it smells bad almost everywhere in the hotel.
To top it all off, I went downstairs to ask for a simple fork so I could eat something in my room, and I was asked to pay 15 AED for it which ended up costing more than my instant ramen.
The only real positive points are a few members of the staff: the cleaning boy, the new breakfast trainee (the young man who apparently worked at Marriott before and was excellent), and the breakfast chef, who consistently made sure we had everything we needed. And above all, the girl manager who is the only reason this review isn’t even worse.
Overall the experience was extremely disappointing and far below expectations
