Feels like a step back in time. In London you would pay big to stay somewhere like this. Big rooms, great staff, free breakfast. A bit tired and run down but can't complain for the price. Plenty of banks, restaurants and shops nearby. Very busy local area. We used it as a base to get buses and cabs to the tourist areas. WiFi a bit temperamental. Water luke warm.

Beautiful time capsule of a place, and the front desk workers were very kind and patient with the language barrier. All the sheets as of this review were perfectly clean and fresh. The place is a little tired and worn around the edges, but not dirty. It's part of the charm.

It is a centrally art deco hotel built in 1937. It has character and charm giving one a retro feeling. The rooms are big. The back rooms are very quiet. The staff are friendly, kind, and knowledgeable. The price is right. Reserve your room directly through the website. I was quite delighted to have stayed here in 2013; and still am delighted staying here now with my sister.

It was our worst place to stay. First of all it was quite dirty. It said on our guide that the hotel is from 20s. Indeed it was and not any reparation on top of that. The pillows were like 100 years old, hard like stone. The bathrooms were terrible. There wasn't hot water but just warm so we couldn't have a shower.||The heating didn't work so we felt quite cold. It's also very noisy as it is on the main street.||There was no breakfast but the only nice things that happened in the hotel that they recommended us the second place on the right after we got out of the hotel to get breakfast and that was delicious. ||The hotel doesn't have it's own car park but you you can park in front of the building and pay to the guy who is in charge of the street parking, around 10 dinar per night.||It's close to shops and local places. But mostly coffee shops. ||They don't accept credit cards so you have to pay in cash. We paid around 500 dinars for a double and a triple room with no heating and no HOT water. ||WIFI worked only at the reception area.||There was a nice and stylish kind of sitting room with nobody.||The corridors of the hotel is much nicer than the rooms. The rooms are almost scary and made us feel as if we were in a horror film like SHINING!

Having read the reviews we thought we were being stupid and brave booking in. The sheets in Room 120 were clean and like the towels subject to many washes! The upstairs terrace testament to this as lots of laundry drying. Untouched (almost) since 1937 was the charm for us. If you want boutique hotel standards and freshly squeezed orange juice for breakfast its not for you. Staff were friendly and helpful as they nurse this grand old lady along! Wifi was better than many places and location excellent for onward train travel. We never bumped into Jack Nicholson in the corridor either!! (the fixtures and fittings are classic though).4 stars are for this aspect of the hotel.

Hotel is within walking distance of the train station. It has spacious rooms. Breakfast was average compared to what I had in other Moroccan hotels. Wifi worked well in my room as well. Only negative is you need a taxi to get to the imperial city part of Meknes.

Relied heavily upon Tripadvisor for making arrangements for trip. Do not understand why this hotel is rated third of hotels in Meknes. It might be good as a museum or movie set but not only is the building old and not modernized, perhaps a plus, but the bedding is terrible. Appears that the bedding (mattresses, pillows, pillow cases, sheets and covers) are from 1937 or perhaps the sixties. Found pillow case disturbingly stained. Perhaps it had been washed but the bedding was repellent. Would advise others to avoid this place unless you know what you are getting. Yes, it it nice to see the original telephone switchboard with plugs from the 1930s and it is interesting that so little has been updated, but the bedding needs replacement. Mattress is bad and pillows are like tortillas--- hard, flat and made of who knows what. They do have Wifi but no air conditioning and no elevators. Specified matrimonial bed for two when making reservation but found them assigning a room with three single beds. This place was a major disappointment and we moved to another hotel. Plus is location perhaps six minute walk from train station. Liked Meknes as a city.

Weird, stark room, the modern ceiling light in the middle casting shadows that wouldn't have been wrong in a David Lynch film. Room 207, though, was quiet and dark and while not the cleanest, not the dirtiest either. And the light and water in the bathroom meant I could shave properly for the first time in days. Not sure why it gets guide book mentions, seems like there are better in this price range... That being said, breakfast included is a plus!
