"Built in 1929, the Majestic is San Antonio’s oldest and largest theater. A beloved historic landmark, it’s home to the San Antonio Symphony and hosts concerts, plays, and musicals three to five times a week. The magnificent interior seats up to 2,300 people and offers equally impressive entertainment, with past acts including the Gipsy Kings, Diana Krall, and Lyle Lovett, as well as Broadway hits such as The Book of Mormon and Wicked."

We recently attended a Daryl Hall concert at the Majestic Theatre, and the experience was fantastic from start to finish. The venue itself is absolutely stunning, with its grand architecture, intricate detailing, and classic charm that truly lives up to its name. The seating was excellent—comfortable with a great view of the stage, no matter where you sat. The theater is well-designed, making it easy to navigate, and the staff was friendly and efficient. One of the standout aspects was the convenience. The full bar and snack options were easily accessible, and getting a drink was a breeze. Even the restrooms were well-maintained, with quick-moving lines, which is always a plus at a busy event. Transportation was also hassle-free. Taking an Uber to and from the venue was simple, with easy access for pick-up and drop-off. Overall, the Majestic Theatre provides a top-notch concert experience with its beautiful atmosphere, smooth logistics, and great amenities. If you have the chance to see a show here, don’t miss it!

Google
The show was incredible. My only negative star is purely for confusion on the QR code at my table. We had left box seats, which is fine but the QR code to have drinks/food delivered didn't start till after the show, where they literally request you not yo open your phone. Also at that point, they literally charge $15 for a single and $30 for a double [Maker's Mark], I can LITERALLY buy a whole bottle for the double cost lol. And then it even costs EXTRA to add some items to your drink, it's a little ridiculous. There's essentially no food, so not sure why they even try to advertise that as well.

This is one of the most beautiful theaters I have ever been too. The seating was comfortable and easy to navigate with room to stretch your legs. The staff was incredibly friendly and helpful. They have amazing shows playing and an amazing sound system. I can't wait to go again!

Went to see Les Miserables. This is my first time in the majestic theater. It's called majestic for a reason. It's grand, I love the architecture. It could use a few more bathrooms.. The wait for the men's room was long. The show was excellent. I haven't been to live theater in years. I would highly recommend this production.

Google
Saw the Broadway production of Moulin Rouge at the BEAUTIFUL Majestic Theatre while we were in San Antonio on vacation. It was my first time at the Majestic and the interior is just incredible! My photos don't do it justice... It is so beautiful and unique! We sat in the balcony and the sight lines were wonderful. There was no part of the show we could not see from our seats. If you have been to other venues you know that is not always the case. HIGHLY recommend a visit to the Majestic in San Antonio to see a show!! And Moulin Rouge was a fantastic show!!

Incredibly breathtaking venue! The Starlight Suites experience is one to behold. We thoroughly enjoyed The Rock Orchestra. It's s must see!

Love this venue. The seats are great and so is the ambiance! Hauser put on one heel of a show. Just wish the merch setup was better. Great time!

Wow, let me start by saying how impressed I was on the preliminary end of attending an event at the Majestic theater. It was easy to book my ticket straight from the website, and they sent me an email to pre-order a parking ticket at a nearby garage on St. Mary Street for only $15. When we got there and walked up, there was employees of the majestic theatre outside informing everyone of the rules about bags, larger than a certain size or not allowed, and keeping everybody in line and organized. Once you got inside, the bartenders, definitely have their work cut out for them, and there was at least five different bars, you could stand in line so they move fast. They also handed out a business card that had a QR code. You could order your drinks and food from your seat. They had attendance helping everyone find their seats . The view was beautiful even from the top mezzanine. I love the architecture of the theater. I was super impressed. The one downfall is me and my husband are both tall people so I felt like my knees were in the back of the person head in front of me 😵‍💫

Yelp
Husband had bought me NUT CRACKER tickets for a myself and a friend. No problem getting into theater. Absolutely loved the man out front with us, telling all to have purses open and tickets out. Makes the line move so much faster. People checking purses went very fast. So nice. Bar was easy to walk up to for service. We love the collector cup. Great show! We sat in orchestra G 1 & 2. Great seats. Close to stage. Restrooms had no wait, was surprised with a full theater. Leaving theater was tight due to everyones dinner reservations.

Yelp
Beautiful theatre in downtown San Antonio. If you have the opportunity to go to an event or show here - do it! I have been to a few now and always have the best time. They nail customer service and I've never had a negative experience with the staff here. There are always people to help you at events or find your seat etc. I recommend getting here early to walk around and admire the beautiful decor and views from balcony.

Yelp
Went to see the "Hendrix" experience show. Sound was amazing. Only negative comments are over the price of drinks and seating. Our tickets were $120 and not great. Quite far from the stage. I realize the theater does not get all of the money - the broker gets a part - but still. Two draft beers were $32. Don't think this is is the venue for me.

Yelp
Beautiful theater inside. We visited this location for Charlie Wilson concert. Charlie Wilson put on an awesome show. Oh the seats are not designed for tall long legs!!
google avatar

Yelp
Saw Rocky Horror Live and it was amazing as well. The view from our seats was great. Everyone was friendly, the bathrooms were clean and well stocked.

Yelp
This rendition of the Cinderella classic was beautifully executed. The different elements that were incorporated into this production made for a wonderfully entertaining event. Children of many ages were represented in dance, synchronized choreography and dancing. The different scenes were well represented. This was probably the best production I've experienced from the Children's Ballet of San Antonio. A shout out to the producers and a big thank you to Fernanda from Yelp for allowing us the experience.
google avatar

Lauren B.

Yelp
The beauty of this building is beyond words. We had the opportunity to watch the Cinderella ballet thanks to Yelp and the Majestic. What an amazing experience! I took my daughter on a date and we truly had such a great experience. Do not stress over downtown parking as the Majestic offers convenient valet parking. There were multiple bars to choose from that offered adult beverages, sodas, juices and snacks. We delivered the apple spritz, popcorn, M&Ms and bottled water. Once you enter the theater, you will simply be in awe. The details along the wall, stairways, ceiling, and stage are beyond your imagination. All do the staff were very friendly and we cannot wait to come back! Thank you Fernanda for that you do for the Yelp community!

Yelp
We chose to experience the Historic Tour of the Majestic and it was fantastic! Highly recommend. Make sure you carve out 1 1/2 hours for the tour. Very informative and got to see all of the back areas where the actors/entertainers go and go on stage.

Yelp
I always have an amazing time at The Majestic Theater! Last night, I watched "Clue," and it was a fantastic comedy that had me laughing throughout. The performances were top-notch and really made the experience memorable. However, the seats can be a little uncomfortable, which is the only downside. Overall, it's a great venue with wonderful shows. I highly recommend it for a fun night out!
google avatar

Yelp
Great looking venue. It almost feel like a vintage place due to its interior decorations. Seats are great, whether you are on the upper or lower seats. Getting tickets through "Will call was fast! Venue offered a varieties of drinks and light snacks & food. Finding your seats after the show starts can be a challenge because the theater goes dark. Enjoyed this venue and I do see myself coming back for a relax and professional play!

Jaesel P.

Yelp
The Majestic is such a beauty! Every time I go I find it magical. I've gone for mostly concerts and every time it's so fun! Never was too cold or too hot, never felt crazy crowded and it's usually always clean. There's like vip boxes and vip areas to eat at the top if your tickets have that and there the drinks are pretty good. So far all the different seats on the floor or the balcony have good view of the stage ! The only bad thing would be that the popcorn and m&ms have been stale the times I've gotten them but the drinks are pretty good. You can take the drinks to your seat or general admission if you want or the food from the vip boxes. The lights and decor is always breathtaking like views are magical !

Yelp
Love Love Love! This is a beautiful theatre and the off Broadway shows are wonderful. Showing now is TINA. Highly recommend !

Yelp
Love love this historic place! As a kid, I marveled at the beauty and felt like I was transported to another Era, and today, I am still mesmerized by the beauty and the architecture. I love the original elevator with an operator, and the metal door protector is definitely an experience. Downfall is the bathroom situation. Not enough stalls and bathrooms are small. The plus, there's an usher that holds up a sign to guide you to the end of the line. Bar on every floor, starlight suites have a little separate area to enjoy drinks like maybe for 4 people. Metal detectors outside, which is reassuring nowadays because everyone gets wanded if you beep. Only issue I had was an usher in a Sparkly red jacket, he was rude when routing the line for merchandise, I told him I couldn't go down the stairs, due to knee issue and he told me to go get in another line then proceeded to snap, uh You're welcome! That just passed me off. Anyways, I loved the production it was amazing

Yelp
The Majestic Theatre has been a pillar of the city of San Antonio since it's Grand Opening in 1929, so many family, friends, and loved ones have enjoyed this magnificent theatre for almost 100 years. I was very grateful to win some complimentary tickets by Yelp to see The Children's Ballet of San Antonio performing Sleeping Beauty. There is a legacy in timeless classics that were performed along with Sleeping Beauty, small snippets of ballet pieces for Little Red Riding Hood, Cinderella, Jack and the Beanstalk, and many more. The children danced and danced in joy, they love the applause and are very talented. Ballet has always been an art form of great discipline and elegance. One of my favorite things to a V.I.P. experience was riding up the timeless elevator. It had the old fence and a lovely Usher pressing the button up and pulling the gate open and closed. I could only imagine how many people have ridden that elevator throughout the years. The Majestic is truly beautiful, the attention to detail in the making of such an establishment was made out of a passion for architecture. I'm not sure they make theatres quite like this anymore. The people who've gone to watch a show and have an enjoyable time throughout the decades, it's just so neat to be able to experience it as well. The Snack Bar has an variety of drinks and sodas, I believe it looked like a full bar elegantly displayed. They had popcorn and candy and even pineapple juice! All in all it was a lovely evening, a beautiful night with my fellow San Antonio people. Children had a blast with their parents, I overheard one boy asking his Mother wanting to know how long Sleeping Beauty would be asleep. LOL Children are adorable! I highly recommend the events at The Majestic Theatre. Take your friends! Take your family! Take Your Beloved, You will be pleasantly surprised.

Yelp
Bought fairly expensive tickets for Joe Rogan show of Aug 3. Sat through 4 (largely obscene) comedians before I gave up and walked out. I am incensed that the Majestic didn't provide any information about billing minor acts or even how many there would be before Rogan would come on. I can stand a warm up act or even two, but when the fourth came on of largely unfunny acts I had had enough. Not improving my mood was having finally been able to get a drink only to pay $40 for a 16oz cup of warm beer and 6 oz cup of mediocre wine. A wasted evening and about $400 lost.

Yelp
This place is BEAUTIFUL! Would 100% go again just for the ambiance. The staff was very nice and helpful. So many different views. Not a bad seat in the house. A lot of different style performances too.
google avatar

Alexis M.

Yelp
First time here came to see beetlejuice. Loved the theatre so unique and eye catching. Had to pay for parking even on Tuesday due to the event, that's the only downfall. Drinks were yummy and popcorn was HORRIBLE. I couldn't even open the bag I ended up ripping a hole through it. Staff was nice and very polite.

Yelp
My friend and I attended a comedy show at the Majestic. We were both excited because we don't get out much. We got great seats, but the sound system sucked! It was as if we were ordering a happy meal at a McDonalds drive thru in 1983. I noticed there were a lot of folks around us who weren't laughing as much as they should have been. I chalked it up to that they couldn't understand what they were saying as well. When we could understand what they were saying, it was great. but the majority of the time we couldn't understand the mumble. My friend was at the majestic a few weeks before seeing The Book of Morman. She and her husband left during intermission because they couldn't understand what they were saying. Sounds like The majestic Theater needs to upgrade their sound system. (pun intended)

Yelp
Perfect venue! I feel like any seat is a good seat. They have a variety of talent that performs. The temperature is comfortable. It's is easy to get in and out of. There is parking located next to the theater, but being downtown, it may or may not be full. Lots of restaurants walking distance (including Riverwalk) to kill time before or after the show/performance.
google avatar

Samantha B.

Yelp
I have attended approximately ten shows at the Majestic over the years and each time I am just as taken aback by the whimsy of the theatre as I was on my very first visit. I have read many of the other reviews and can understand the gripes (small seats, limited accessibility, cramped common areas due to merch/bars) but you have to keep in mind, this theatre was built in 1929. Almost 100 years ago...people were smaller! The seats, unfortunately, cannot grow no matter how magical the Majestic may be. That adorable "tiny" water fountain many reviews mention? Keep in mind, that was a regular-sized water fountain at the time! The same goes for cramped areas due to adding merch tables and bars, when the theatre was built, it simply wasn't done so to prepare for the demand of modern-day theatre experiences. Nobody was showing up to elbow crowds to buy an overpriced t-shirt with a Broadway musical logo screen printed on it. Yes, the bathroom situation is a true cacophony at any given time, but as a historic building, there is only so much you can do. Any issue that someone can find with the Majestic these days is entirely at the fault of a shift in societal norms. I applaud them for doing their best to keep up in an environment where the sanctity of the theatre has become so misrepresented, while still maintaining a quality establishment!

Yelp
We have season tickets . This theater is an old classic. We saw Jerry Seinfeld two weeks ago and he was hilarious .

Yelp
I just went and saw Tina the musical.it was great. One of the best I've seen. When it ended people got up and left and missed out on the mini concert from the cast. It was awesome. Tina Turner was an amazing person with an amazing life. So glad I stayed and got to dance with the cast making me feel like I was seeing Tina. Thanks to the majestic for hosting the play. Great venue for great shows
google avatar

Melissa D.

Yelp
All staff at every step were very friendly and knowledgeable. Loved the views! Next time, I think we would spring for the Mezzanine seating lol.
google avatar

Brandon A.

Yelp
It was my first time coming back to this theatre in a long time and I almost forgot how beautiful the theatre is! Once you checkin and see the stage its as if you are taken into a whole other world. The blue lit ceiling, old time chandeliers and light fixtures set an enchanting scene for any performance. Nonetheless, the sleeping beauty ballet show paired beautifully with the Majestic theatre. Ill be sure to come here again for another show in the near future!
google avatar

Lana J.

Yelp
Saw the To Kill a Mockingbird play here as a trip funded by my school. First impressions are of elegance and opulence, with meandering architecture and a walkable design that exudes tasteful magic. Few complaints. A great show, but a hassling task to pay for foodstuff during intermission, and an even lower level of selection. If buying any sort of snack--either pricey peanuts or coffee--be wary of having to pay with card only. Other than that, the view is always spectacular, and the acts put on are sure to be especially talented.

Yelp
I really enjoy the Majestic Theatre, I love the look of the theatre and it's a great venue for a concert or a play. We saw the band "Chicago" and the place was packed. I will go back to the Majestic as again, I really do enjoy how it is decorated and it's what I would term as a medium size venue which is perfect for some bands and plays

C F.

Yelp
We love this the Majestic Theater. It is from 1929 and in a great area of SA, TX. No matter where you sit there are great views. We try to sit mostly in the lower parts of Orchestra. The views here are pretty spectacular. We recently went to see MJ musical and sat in center section Row Q, amazing views. We have also sat in Mezz and down in the very front as well as the back of Orchestra. All amazing to view. Each seat offers something different. The inside is so beautifully decorated, great for families, date night or friends. Staff is courteous. Get there early to park next door and go get a beverage nearby. VIP parking is the best if you can get it ahead of time. Enjoy! The Tobin is also fabulous and has great acoustics as well!

Yelp
Road shows, theatre classics, and great for intimate Rock shows as well. A great sounding, well maintained, traditional Proscenium Theatre featuring wonderful Architecture from the early 20th century . Sadly, so many of this era theaters have been hit by a Wrecking ball. This one is well maintained by a very professional IATSE crew, Local 76. We've seen Lion King and Charlie & the Chocolate Factory there, wonderful touring versions of the Broadway Classics. Going to see Joe Bonamassa there this week, should be epic!

Isabella F.

Yelp
Two main issues with the company that manages the Majestic and Empire Theaters. They have the longest wait time to answer questions and purchase tickets. The first day, I waited 14 minutes on hold. The second day, 21 minutes. The third day, 33 minutes, and I finally gave up! This is what happens when you have no supervision! The other problem is that the company has the rudest, most unprepared staff to deal with the public! The customer relations person is just as incompetent and fail to complete the task promised would be conducted. They also fail to return calls!

Emmanuel G.

Yelp
Air conditioning is out for Book of Mormon...oh my it is hot up here. During intermission several people were complaining to whom ever they could talk to in management. This to no avail, the temperature was ridiculously warm. The show was stopped once at the beginning because actors mikes were Not working- Not professional! The Tobin is the place to watch a show.

Yelp
Watched Dr. Seuss How the Grinch Toke Christmas here. First time attending this theater so expectations were in the middle. Getting in can be weird if you don't pay attention. There is an express lane and two regular lines. They do have security checking your bags. It moves quickly as long as you are paying attention to the security team directing you. Once inside is were things got crazy to me because trying to figure out where your seat is was frustrating because you have concessions and souvenir stands right there. The ushers are trying to direct so many people at once. I don't know if because it was the Grinch that the vibes in the theater were off or if this is normal at this theater. It seemed that majority of the crowd was on phones or constantly talking during the play. It was very distracting. May try a different type a play in the future but just be mindful that this theater doesn't have the space to take the concession and souvenir stands outside of the actual theater stage area. Arriving early to get into your seats just in case staff is to busy is advised! Cast of the play did an amazing job! 5 stars goes to them!

Dr. Ron M.

Yelp
Very bad for handicapped. No pre-seating for people in walkers and canes. They make you stand in crowded bar and vestibule without AC. No reason for that. Management wake up!
google avatar

Jennifer B.

Yelp
Recently saw Chelsea Handler here. The theater is quite amazing and appropriately named....majestic. Our seats were incredible and the staff helpful and friendly. Even though we were not required to wear a mask, the staff wore masks, there was purifiers in the restroom, and endless places to sanitize your hands. I highly encourage people to catch a show in this venue. You will be blown away. There are several parking garages surrounding the venue and security is quick to guide you to one. Once in you can grab a cocktail at the bar downstairs or upstairs. I will definitely be back and I drove all the way from Houston.

Yelp
Its very nice inside! I Watched chicago touring last night. Bought the right balcony seat. There is alot of stairs inside, the elevator is still under construction. All the staff is very helpful

Yelp
First time at this theater. Went to see the Lion King. The drinks and snacks are incredibly over priced just like a cinema. Security was very relaxed as we walked in. I've had a harder time getting into NFL games. They seem to rush through when the play is about to start. The staff had mask enforcers. One was a elderly woman with white hair. Very aggressive about keeping your mask on. She was scolding a mother with a small child to have the kid where the mask. While myself and my wife were eating we could see her staring at us. As soon as we finished our snacks and getting situated she immediately walked to us and ask for my wife to put her mask on. Like literally the last chip. She then gave a example of how to drink water with her mask on. Even though the signs just ask to put your mask on when you are finished eating/ drinking. Honestly, this isn't a anti-mask rant. The lady was just very distracting during the show. She also expressed to another couple that Disney was the ones enforcers the mask policy. Prior to the show starting. Whether that was true or not. I found it strange for her to speak on behalf of another company whether its true or not. I think a simply wear your ask properly should be sufficient. Suggestions- The seat cushions need a serious upgrade. Basically sitting on the frame. Moose Out.

Yelp
While the theatre is beautiful I would not recommend anyone with a disability or injury to attend a show here. I injured my foot the week of a show and knew that I would struggle to get up to the top balcony section in my boot. I called the box office as soon as I got my X-ray results and emailed the theatre in order to figure out what I should do. They told me the elevator was not operational and no refunds or exchanges were possible. On the night of the show I was told they only had 5 total seats for accommodations and I would have to sit alone, away from my friends. While the house manager was apologetic this feels completely unacceptable. TLDR: the Majestic knew in advance that the elevator would be out of service and still only left room for 5 people to be accommodated in the case of unexpected disability despite theatre capacity being 2,000+.

Yelp
Great experience. I would go all the time if I lived closer. I do already have my next trip booked.

Yelp
Amazing experience tonight seeing Ain't Too Proud: The Life & Times of the Temptations Broadway show. Absolutely gorgeous interior, mind-blowing actually. So much eye candy from the moment you enter the lobby. Not a bad seat in the house. We sat slightly left of center in the balcony, row LL seats 3 & 4. Our view was excellent, even though we were only 10 or so rows from the very back of the theater. Highly recommend catching a show here!

Yelp
What a performance! Five stars for the very talented cast, five stars for the Majestic staff, five stars for the audience! Each act was executed flawlessly. The choreography, lighting, stage presence, very talented musicians, and all the staff behind the scenes and at the concession stands. Bravo!

Jill F.

Yelp
We saw Jerry Seinfeld here and it is a beautiful venue and the staff is very friendly and hospitable. The theater itself is ornate and beautiful. We will return to see other shows here for sure!

Yelp
I could spend hours at the Majestic Theatre, just looking at the architecture and decor. I wish one could have free reign to just explore all the nooks and crannies the architectural gem has to offer. My latest find is what I assume is an antique cigarette ash dish on the back of the bathroom stall on the top floor. Oh! The stories this place could tell from over the last century.
google avatar

Perla A.

Yelp
I love the majestic because every seat it's a good seat, on top of that, they have new and more restrooms and also lots of bartenders so the lines are not as long as they used to be. They only take credit cards and they have an amazing customer service.
google avatar

Marissa A.

Yelp
This theater is very beautiful and unique inside. There was a line to get in but it went by very quickly. We asked for help to find our seats and the staff was very friendly to lead the way. Drinks are reasonable around $10 for a tequila and pineapple. During intermission the wait for the bathroom can be long.

Arianna M.

Yelp
This was my first time attending a musical here. I loved Wicked and was brought to laughter/tears. Everything was wonderful and beautiful. It would have been 5 stars but one staff member was not great. I went to the bathroom during intermission and the line was very long with only 4 stalls on balcony level. They had just started act 2 and I was rushing back but was cut off by an employee saying I had to wait and couldn't go back to my seat. No explanation why. I was highly upset missing the first few minutes of Act 2 cause of this. A warning would have been nice or even an explanation.

Julie F.

Yelp
Enjoyed "Wicked" for a special occasion. The theatre is beautiful, the acoustics are amazing, and the staff is very friendly. We had a great time!

Yelp
I attended a comedy show last evening at the Majestic Theater. This was my first time at this venue, and it was BEAUTIFUL. I was not prepared for the obstacles of our seats as I am handicapped and walk with a cane. We arrived a few minutes late, and everyone was already seated in a sold-out show. We made our way to the balcony, and my seat was up an area that did not have a handrail and many stairs to climb... Definitely was not safe Our usher, Ms. Karen was so amazing. She went to check our seats before we attempted the climb. When we saw that we would have to disturb everyone in the row we decided to avoid the disturbance and just leave. As we were exiting, Karen asked us to wait, and she coordinated 2 seats on the lower level that were handicap friendly. We were escorted to the new location, and it was such a blessing. Karen even checked up on us to ensure that we were okay with the new seats. Her customer service went above and beyond! I want to say Thank You, from a greatful heart!

Yelp
This venue is NOT equipped for the disabled and several staff members were rude and indifferent towards the needs of my physically disabled nephew in obvious medical distress. He was left to stand outdoors longer than expected due to a miscommunication in starting times. When he BEGGED to be allowed to sit inside, he was told NO. When he developed a nose bleed and asked to go to the bathroom for a tissue he was told he could "go bleed in the street". Once the crowd was finally let inside one worker took notice of the shape my nephew was in and rushed to get him a water bottle. Paramedics were called and tended to my nephew but, of course, he never recovered enough to enjoy the show. I'm very sad I don't know the name of the young man who came to aid my nephew. He was a true hero, in my opinion, and the only bright spot in the entire experience. My nephew is mostly homebound. It takes a lot of effort and energy on his part to get out. The one night in such a long time that he went out and this is how the Majestic operates? Disappointed is an understatement. The Majestic is not Majestic at all and I look forward to avoiding the venue from now on.

Arlene G.

Yelp
The building is beautiful on the inside but the sound system is not the greatest. It really needs to be upgraded.

Yelp
This night was magical for my family and I. We saw the Lion King and the house was packed. The show was so far past our expectations, and it even gripped my five year olds attention for over two hours. I would push hard for everyone to go and see a show before you die!
