"Red cedar walls cast a rosy glow over this 28-seat Kitsilano nook, which Air Canada named as the country’s fourth best new restaurant in 2017. Here, chef-owners Makoto Ono and Amanda Cheng reprise the Asian flavors and French techniques that brought them fame at Gastown’s PiDGiN. The couple keeps thing simple with prix-fixe dinner menus made up of seasonal, sustainable ingredients, which evolve every few weeks. Expect innovative dishes that draw from Ono’s Japanese background, like kombu-cured snapper with tofu sauce, and a crispy buckwheat pancake over foraged greens and matcha-infused panko crunchies. For dessert, look forward to Cheng’s sublime sweets. Note: The restaurant requests at least 48 hours’ notice to prepare vegetarian and gluten-free alternatives."

This restaurant is located in Kitsilano and parking can be a pain. The restaurant is small with only four or five tables, but it has a warm and cozy atmosphere and offers outstanding customer service. They are known for their innovative, contemporary fusion dishes. We basically tried everything on the Dine Out menu. The food looked exquisite but nothing was mind blowing. For the price point and all the hype, I think I was expecting a little more. This place is definitely a great option for a date night or to celebrate for special occasions though! 💵 Price: $54 pp + tax + tips (Vancouver Dine Out Pricing ) 🤤Taste: 3 / 5 📈 Price Performance ratio: 2 / 5 🕯Atmosphere: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 🪑Seating: ⭐️⭐️

Mak N Ming is the right place to enjoy a creative tasting menu, topped with an exquisite dessert. A simple and unassuming design of that small place makes you feel comfortable and welcomed. I would call the chef's menu somewhat unconventional, as it represents the fusion of Japanese and Pacific Northwest cuisines. Of course, there are hits and misses, but overall you won't be disappointed. The service is relaxed, which I consider being a good thing. The desserts are extraordinary: beautifully and carefully constructed, delicate and utterly delicious.

One of the best tasting menus in the city. Give them a heads up and they can make the entire thing vegetarian! They even came up with a brilliant and unique pairing for it which exposed us to a variety of wine, sake and cocktails. Cute space, really nice design and fantastic service. Can’t wait to go back!

Great spot. Get the chefs menu. Very small and intimate dining room. Service is impeccable and the food has very unique and delicious flavours. Everything was prepared perfectly. Beer and wine list was on point. Great value considering what you’re getting.

Wow what an experience. We came in for brunch on a Sunday morning, surprisingly got the patio seat, great vibe. The food was some of the best fusion I've ever had. We enjoyed the chicken and waffles, which takes the Cake for the best chicken in waffles I've ever tasted. The waffles we're fluffy and light, and the chicken matched it perfectly, also light airy and tender. We also had the pork belly furikake bowl which was amazing. The service was also wonderful. Will definitely be returning to try their chefs menu for dinner. Great first experience.

It's one of those places to try out once and awhile but it's not a weekly thing to attend. In my opinion that's the beauty of it, seasonal menus so it will change over time. They are definitely creating unique dishes, a couple of odd dishes in the mix, one in particular that I did not enjoy was the pasta plate. The size of the plates are small but I was stuffed after the meal for sure. Overall the service is great the space cute and cozy reminded me that I'm in a typical Japanese space..😏

It’s small restaurant but cozy. The service is awesome. Food is really good especially the prawn today, it’s tender but not too soft, woo, perfect. The pork cheek texture is great and the cauliflower beside make it to another level. A perfect new way combining east and west. A must in Vancouver.

Great service and great food is the winning combination. Asian inspired with a unique twist this place is a gem. We did the dineout with a dozen oysters and everything was delicious. Food came out fast and our server was super awesome. Will be back for more.
