"A city within a city, Makati is Manila’s poshest shopping, business, and nightlife district. At the Makati Shangri-La, guests have amazing access to—and respite from—all of the above, including the malls that have made the neighborhood a retail pilgrimage site. After settling in, walk over to Glorietta, where you’ll find everything from high-end beauty boutiques to a family-run pawn shop and multiple Starbucks for good measure. Some of Manila’s best restaurants are also located in Makati, but the Shangri-La’s own Shang Palace is so beautiful and beloved, you won’t want to miss the experience if you have even the slightest interest in Cantonese food. As for the aforementioned breathing space on the guest floors, it starts with the waterfall you’ll pass en route to your room and ends with the custom-appointed bed in your plush, spacious surroundings. Go for one of the Deluxe Suites and you’ll also enjoy panoramic views of the bustle you’ve just left behind."

We loved the place. The Lobby was awesome. It can accommodate large crowds. The lobby feels like the Titanic scene with the big chandelier. The food was great. It has the basic Filipino foods but very fancy styles. Overall this place is great. Great staff with great service 👍.

Stayed at Shangri-La Makati for a recent business trip and found it to be a solid choice. The location is ideal for business travelers, with easy access to offices, malls, and dining spots. Service from the staff was exceptional — always attentive, professional, and warm throughout my stay. Cleanliness across the hotel was impeccable, from the lobby to the rooms. The only drawback is that the rooms are beginning to show their age and could benefit from some modernization. Still, overall a reliable and comfortable stay for work-related visits.

The hotel was very nice and checkin was seamless . They had the rooms ready at 10|am. Very comfortable beds but I noticed the showers may need refurbishing. A very nice bakery with yummy baked goods a great coffee downstairs at the lobby. Breakfast at Circles Cafe was varied and they open at 6 am so perfect for travelers who have to be in the airport very early.

We stayed here for one night before flying back to the UK. |Very luxurious hotel, smooth check in, staff friendly and professional. |Rooms were really nice with a huge luxurious bathroom and the shower was amazing. |Nice pool area with lots of sun but would benefit from more loungers. Pool bar and food service was very good too. |Breakfast was one of the best we have had ever with so many choices including Asian and Western food. Sadly we ate late the night before so didn’t do it justice at all. Oh well maybe next time. |Highly recommend if you’re not on a budget.

We had an absolutely wonderful stay, as always! The room was spotless, and the breakfast was simply delicious. The five-star service truly stood out, especially thanks to Jazz at the lounge, who was incredibly kind and attentive. We’re already looking forward to our next visit.

We were a family of six travelling together between the ages of 82 and 9. Three adults and three children. We spent 4 nights at Makati Shangri La. ||The stay at Shang Makati was excellent. The staff were helpful, kind and professional. Nothing was too much trouble and they went above and beyond to ensure an enjoyable stay. ||The rooms are a little dated but they have all that you require, are of a good size and are good value for money. The pool and gym are excellent.||I would recommend the Shangri la Makati for couples, families and those travellers with children.

It's our second stay with Shangri-la accommodation, Boracay and Makati. It didn't disappoint, lovely decor and presentation, great customer service especially accommodating us with an early check-in after a very early domestic flight. Our room was lovely too, very spacious and clean. Great buffet breakfast selections.

A 5-star hotel with first-class staff! I had a minor issue with my room and the duty manager came and did the service recovery. Excellent service providers from the housekeeping department to the front desk and the managerial staff. Job well done Makati Shangri-La!

Yelp
I am a visiting America here and while dining at their Lobby Lounge, a server named Zele help us navigate thru the menu. We noticed a big price difference between a regular price versus a shangrila member(as expected) So we wanted to avail of the priviledges Zele was so kind to walk us thru the process and we got the membership done and was able to avat of the discounts Hats off to Zele for a great customer service

Yelp
The staff is courteous and very friendly; always service with a smile. You couldn't ask for better customer service. The only reason why I'm knocking down a star is because of the subpar food. For example: at the 24hr lounge area, I'm paying $20 for over cooked pasta with no flavor, and it's served lukewarm temp. It was disgusting and if I wasn't so hungry, I would've sent it back. I ate as much as I could but couldn't even finish the tiny, TINY serving. It tasted like leftover spaghetti from Jollibee that they microwaved for over 10min. I get it, you maybe busy or understaffed but to make a person wait almost an hour from ordering to receiving their food.... AND THEN, the food is lukewarm and flavorless and the pasta is overcooked and mushy?!? Ewwww. And to top it off, the linguine is cut up in little pieces?!? Whyyyyy?!? How can you mess-up linguine?!? It's so simple to make.....and you overcooked it AND cut it up into small pieces?!? Whyyyyy?? The breakfast buffet is a little bit better. (AGAIN, great customer service) but the food itself was McDonald's/fastfood-level......it was borderline bad we also ate at Sage Grill for their steaks and it was disappointing as well. Meat was chewy and tough. What is going on ShangriLa?!? If the customer service wasn't so excellent, I would've complained. Whoever is in charge of the culinary department, PLEASE stop cutting corners. We are paying top dollar to stay at your hotel......don't make the experience so awful by serving terrible, subpar food. (and making people wait ridiculous amounts of time) Everything went well with our stay (otherwise) but the food experience was awful and left a really bad taste in our mouths. I honestly don't know if we would recommend Shang to anyone anymore. (at least not for the food)

Yelp
5-star service from a 5-star hotel. Pampered and treated like family by the staff from security, Horizon Club Lounge, Circle Cafe, pool and housekeeping. Our suite came with complimentary buffet and cocktails with snacks in the Horizon Club Lounge plus daily live entertainment, you would not want to leave the hotel. Walking distance between malls and restaurants and less than $10 ride from Ninoy International Airport, a must stay if you are in Metro Manila

Vivianne R.

Yelp
Shout out to the staff who made our week stay an exceptional experience: Horizon Lounge with Ria Luna, Julius, Argel, Ryan, Patrick, Jazz, Chaffaye, Cris, JD and The Circles Cafe with Belle and all her staff. Kudos, as well, to all the other staff from security, to housekeeping, kitchen, pool attendants, live music/band, etc. A truly stellar, luxurious, must-stay hotel in Makati!

Yelp
Horrible service for a 5 star hotel. On New Year's Eve, we had to wait 75 minutes in the checkin line!!!!

Yelp
Where do I begin?!? I have stayed here five times over the last years; always for a week or more. This may not be the best hotel, the most glamorous, or the most expensive, but what it 'lacks' in those areas it more than makes up for it with it's amazing staff and amenities!! Beautiful exterior, well lit with a nice water feature and a nice security system in place that makes me feel safe despite not being overly intrusive. The staff at the front desk has always been extremely patient and friendly. Enough of them there that I never have to wait to check-in or out. The rooms are great! I always get a king and despite them being a little worn and dated, they are extremely nice and well laid out with 110, 220 and USB power outlets. The climate control is excellent. The big shower is separate from the tub. Room has a safe, iron & ironing board, hair dryer, three phones, really good WiFi, cable and a variety of lights all with controls you can reach from bed. Breakfast is the most expensive spread of fresh food I have ever seen. I don't have enough room to fit all my praise. Trust me, no better breakfast exists in Asia! Several other restaurants and bars as well as a gift shop are on property. There is an amazing gym, spa, outdoor pool, two tennis courts, locker rooms with saunas, steam room, hot tub and ice plunge tub and a full massage venue. This place has everything and did I mention the staff?!? The bar is a great way to wind down. Live music every night starting around 9pm now I think. They NEVER disappoint. HIGHLY RECOMMEND and I absolutely be back!!

Yelp
Hotel Accommodations: 3 night stay, 1 night stay, and 2 night stay Takes: In Jan 2020, Makati Shang was our home base when were in the Philippines. We started our trip here, stayed overnight during our layover before our Hong Kong leg, and then returned for the final Philippines leg before heading back to the States. Needless to say, the staff at the Reception desk, Concierge, Transportation, and breakfast Buffett definitely remembered us. Rooms: You get the luxury 5 star hotel feel when you stay at The Shang. The rooms are spacious and clean. There's complimentary hotel slippers for your convenience, and wrap yourself in their nice robes. We stayed on the 3rd floor and the 11th floor. Both floors had the same amenities inside of the room. The water pressure in the shower is strong! It feels great on your aching muscles after a 12+ hour flight to the Philippines. Tired from a long day/travel? They offer massages 24 hours. Service: Everyone is so hospitable! They even surprised my mom with a birthday treat since the last leg was close to her birthday! Business center: Hotel guests have 15 mins complimentary use of computers. Printing your boarding pass is free. There's a fee for black and white and colored print jobs (not boarding pass related). Business center is on the 2nd floor. Pool: Currently closed for maintenance. They offer shuttles to Shangrila at the Fort or North EDSA, but due to the recent Taal eruption, the other pools were closed because of the ash fall. Circle Card Members: Sign up for their rewards program to rack up points and avail more discounts! Patrons: Mostly business people or those attending special events. It is not uncommon to see a bride and groom at the lobby. Airport Pickup: Look for the person in the red suit with a sign for Shangrila waiting for you at NAIA (Manila airport). Location: near glorietta, greenbelt, and landmark (shopping at your finger tips) Price: Fluctuates, but closer to the $200 (USD) range per night. If you want to avail their transportation a services, depending on the destination, that could set you back at least $60 (USD) or 3,300 Philippine pesos. Breakfast buffet is included with your accommodations. If you present your senior card, you get 20% discount. American Express Card holders get 50% discount at the Circles buffet. Bottom line: Go here for your luxury hotel accommodation fix! Highly recommended.

Yelp
This is a great hotel in the Makati area. The prices are fair even though at the high end of Manila. But you can expect a good sized, comfortable room, clean, great service. The pool is beautiful, huge, and the servers are super friendly, and there is both a kiddy pool as well as the full size pool with separated swim lanes. The fitness center is also big with a complete offering of cardio, weights, etc. They have a bar with live music in addition to the lobby bar. The location is very close to a ton of shopping and restaurants in the Green Belt and other malls. Overall an excellent choice for a few nights in Manila.

Yelp
CHOOO CHOOOO !!! RED ALERT. RED ALERT; I REPEAT: RED ALERT: The GAINS train is back in motion and Makati Shangri-La is the final destination. With by far the most stunning hotel gym I've ever laid eyes upon, Makati Shangri-La is a temple of luxury relaxation and excellence. Located literally seconds away from excellent restaurants and huge shopping complexes, this place is simply a BEAST of a hotel. Service is impeccable and you just can't help but feel like a champion whenever you stay here. Exquisite decor gives a regal vibe and I don't know about you, but there's nothing quite like the feeling of being a king and sitting comfortably on a nice, solid throne. Fantastic.

Yelp
The Shangri La Makati is a solid four stars. Security is pretty tight. When you first drive up all vehicles entering the property are searched. Before entering the lobby you pass through metal detectors and a bomb-sniffing dog. At first you may feel a little uncomfortable with the amount of security, but this is for the safety of guests. Checking in at the concerage was a vip experience. They knew that I was coming in and had an assigned person to take care of me. My rate included complimentary morning breakfast buffet and in-house laundry service. The room I got was spacious with a king size bed. It has a mini bar stocked with beverages for purchase and three bottles of complementary water. The Shangri-La Makati is pricey, but it is well worth it. It is not only conveniently located, but it has excellent customer service making your stay comfortable.

Yelp
U want customers to keep accumulating points yet they don't get to use the points immediately. And it's only good for 3 years. What if the customer has medical or family emergency and cannot use the accumulated points within 3 years? U let it expire without any sympathy to the customer's health or family emergency reasons? U only think of how Customers benefit your company but there is "never" any loyalty to that customer???

Yelp
Wow, I didn't know they Yelp in the Philippines now! So very cool and I thought I would be the first to review but I guess not! I have been to this hotel for two 2-wk business trips in late November 2012 and 2013. I hope to be back again next year. I had to write about my experience here and also share my experience! ;-p I really love this hotel and their service. It's one of the best hotels in the area with the best location. It's one of the most expensive hotels in Makati area, too but well worth it especially, if you are on a business trip. If you are not the type to roam around an unfamiliar area, this hotel has everything. There is a buffet restaurant as well as a Japanese restaurant on site. They have round the clock room service and if you want massages, they offer this as well. The hotel is also close to everything with walking distance. They have a Starbucks right next door. Bonus!!! There are markets, many malls, restaurants all around there so you won't be bored. They have security guards everywhere especially as you get dropped off in the front. They have guard dogs that sniff inside the car but not sure they do anything...haha. They do a quick check with hand wands on your handbags or suitcases as you enter the hotel. I guess good for security as it is a 5-star hotel. They do have a parking garage for people that drive or visit you. They have hotel reps that walk around greeting you. During the holidays, the hotel is nicely decorated with lights, Xmas trees or Angels. Sometimes, they have ladies dressed as Angels! So pretty! I have not gotten to use their pool but I will next time. The business rooms are so clean and roomy. Internet is a must in a hotel and theirs works great. They have a good sized TV and desk for your office needs. All the rooms I have gotten had great awesome views. They have mini frigs in the room for your needs. The beds are huge and sheets are soft. The AC works a little too well sometimes ;-p and the bathrooms are all marble. Showers run string like how I like it. I have never had an issue at this hotel. Customer service was great! I can't wait to come back!

Yelp
Awesome experience. Top notch service It started with recommendations from our server Joemar. Granted my cousin Sophie and Uncle are frequent diners, however J made sure each dish is to our satisfaction. First prep of Peking duck was with meat instead of just skins. The grouper fish came with the veggies that we all liked Cindy the manager came over to say hi and ensured our order came out promptly. And as she's saying hi she noticed my tea needed filled. Very attentive My final remark is their decorum. A very famous Filipino boxer was dining. No one was gossiping. We only knew when he stepped out for a few secs We had Peking duck with 2 prep, breaded big prawns (not big shrimps) as appetizers, some kind of noodles with scallops and enoki mushrooms (simple looking yet delish), and grouper and tofu in clay pot

Yelp
Business trips in the Far East will not be complete without an evening of sumptuous buffet in Circles, Shangri La Makati. The place is impeccable as always with quick and courteous staff ready to give you an awesone dinning experience. The 8 international stations is a delightful gastronomic journey from the carving table to the chocolate fountain. I personally enjoyed the seafood station with a constant supply of fresh mound of lobsters, shrimps, crabs ready to be cooked to your preference. The Japanese selection of sashimi and sushi is my utmost weakness and the chocolate fountain flowing with swiss cocoa is the best in the city. We always dine in the evenings where we find the ambiance more relaxed and somehow romantic because of the warm lighting and soft tunes playing in the background. The place can fill up easily at any given day mostly because of hotel guests and loyal patrons so it's best to walk in at 6pm for dinner buffet to find a table away from foot trafic. The hotel is a short walking distance from prime shopping centers in the area so you can park in these establishments and simply walk in for the buffet. Otherwise there is always the hotel valet. The place closes at 10pm everyday.

Yelp
This is a great hotel with exceptional, flawless service. I really enjoyed their spa, the Japanese restaurant is top-notch. All of the personnel has been courteous and efficient. I tried that over two different stays so it's really the way this hotel works.

Yelp
Used to stay at New World Makati. But the rooms and service are far superior at Shangri-la. yes, I have had better breakfast buffets, but the service overall at the hotel is wonderful. Wifi is also better than other hotels. Will stay here from now on.

Yelp
Love this hotel. Every time I'm back home, I ask to stay one night here. The service is exceptional, from check-in to check-out. The buffet at Circle is amazing as well - the breakfast is a huge spread and variety from all different cuisines. The room was well-kept with an amazing city view. The best parts: the fitness club and spa which was great to use, and the close vicinity to Glorietta and Greenbelt where great dining and great shopping is a walk away.

Yelp
We've been coming here for less than 10 years and it's been such a lovely hotel but it has gone down the hill. My throat has been so itchy and I happen to found mold in our room, see the mold on the vent and behind this piece of art. Wifi also is slower than it was before.
google avatar

Yelp
After staying on two different floors over three days, I liked the bedroom slippers and built-in bench. I'm also thankful for their luggage storage service. If you don't get the breakfast buffet, Tim Horton's is around the corner. My husband enjoyed watching the New Year fireworks from the Horizon Club. Toiletries are inconsistent in providing a hair band or bath salts.

Yelp
Ok. So first off, everything here is 5 times the price of what it should be, but with how beautiful the view is and how nice everyone was to us... I really couldn't complain. I work in customer service and I know how annoying it is when someone orders a water and camps out forever. Here, they didn't judge us for doing that. I mean, we would've ordered food if we were hungry, but after eating 2 pastries a person AND another breakfast item for breakfast we were so full that the mere mention of food could have made us sick. So... We were still full and just wanted a cold beverage to beat the heat. Not only did we beat the heat, but we got a GORGEOUS view of their outdoor garden AND we got a wonderful live piano performance consisting of Broadway musical hits and other famous melodies. Shangri La, I love you. I wish I had the budget to stay here, but I'm glad I got a small sample of what you're hotel is all about. I hope to come back and experience it to the fullest one day.

Yelp
Shangri-La might be 5 stars by Filipino standards, but I've stayed at better hotels in Vegas. Shangri-La has dated decor and limited amenities. Food service in all the restaurants are horrendous. You are waiting forever for a menu, food, the bill, or even more drinks at all the restaurants including the lounge. Food is 4 star quality at all the restaurants, but way overpriced. $50-$100 per person is ridiculous for a $200/night hotel. Food does not compare to U.S. 4-5 star restaurants. Tv stations have constantly poor reception and signal always dropping out. However, I do appreciate the selection of English stations and American tv shows. Internet is 5mbps which is extremely slow for a business hotel. Difficult to be productive in my room. Business center had one computer and was equally slow on a wired connection. No gift shop to buy the simplest amenities such as post cards, snacks, toiletries. In the rooms, they have lumpy king size beds, plastic toilet seats, and narrow shower heads that will never get you clean. I've had better accommodations in a Holiday Inn. I do have to give kudos to the hotel staff. The cleaning staff, laundry staff, and front desk were very friendly, polite, and helpful. That was the only part that felt close to 5-star. I heard the newer Shangri-La hotels in other cities are better. I would give them another chance in another city. But, I will never go to the Makati location again. I do not recommend this location to anyone. Staying in Makati is highly recommended due to having 3 mega malls within a few blocks away and tons of restaurants nearby.

Yelp
Love love this place.. if you want top notch service from a hotel this is it.. they are very welcoming and always have many good options I inside the hotel the rooms are amazing and the people who work here are just as nice.

Yelp
The Makati Shangri-La is a very nice hotel in the Makati area of the Philippines. I have stayed here on both my recent trips to Makati and had a very wonderful time. The rooms are nice and the staff is very friendly. It is located in a very good spot near the mall and restaurants that are all walking distance. I highly recommend staying here.

Yelp
My cousin had his wedding here and we stayed in one of the Superior rooms for 3 people. My cousin had one of the executive suites and his fiance had one of the deluxe 2 bedroom suites. That suite encompassed the whole wing of one of the floors so needless to say it was super nice! Also the ballroom for the wedding was beautifully decorated and very extravagant. But back to my review for the room and the hotel. Our room was very nice and clean with two full beds, a nice little seating area, a big bathroom with a separate tub and shower. It was a little muggy and damp so we had to keep the air conditioning on a lot colder than I would like to control the humidity. We had a nice view on the 13th floor. The wifi was good throughout the hotel with good enough quality to stream videos. The TV in the room had a big selection of channels including HBO, CNN, ESPN. The staff was very friendly to all of us during our stay. It has a 24 hour fitness center which was nice because I woke up early around 5 am due to jet lag. The fitness center had good equipment and was very spacious. I also unexpectedly took a yoga class since it happened to start when I was there one of the days. The included breakfast buffet was very good with a lot of selection of food from made to order omelettes and soups to sushi to pastries and desserts. The prices of the rooms weren't bad considering the value. My cousins wedding was beautiful and we had an excellent stay.

Yelp
Over the past 4 years I have stayed many times at this hotel. The location is excellent! However, the last time I stayed there in November 2016 will likely be the last time I stay at this particular Shangri-La Hotel. Over the years I have seen this hotel go from a 5-star property into a 3-star mess. And the price of the hotel drops it another star, hence the 2-star rating I'm giving it. Yes, it's obvious that the rooms are getting old and musty, but it's the cost-cutting that's made this hotel into a dog. Things like making the air conditioning less effective during Mon-Wed when where are less guests in the hotel. Nothing like eating at Circles Buffet and breaking into a sweat. Room where the aircon doesn't make the room cooler than 24 degrees Celsius. Water leaking from the in-room fridge. The smell of mold coming from the carpet. Buffet selections have gotten less and less over the years. Horizon Club offerings have been heavily cut back. I could go on. But the straw that broke the camel's back happened during a stay in November 2016 where I decided to make the Makati Shangri-La my home base while my wife and I planned trips to Thailand and Boracay. We checked in for a 2-night stay before departing for 10 days to Thailand. Nowhere was it indicated on their website nor was I told at check-in that the pool was under renovation. What hotel doesn't tell you about ongoing construction? Management was obviously trying to hide this fact from guests. Upon returning we were only planning to stay one night (6 hours actually) before catching our flight to Boracay. We were planning to return to this hotel after our 5-day Boracay trip so that I could start a 12-day work trip. When we got to our room after midnight my wife decided to take a shower. When she opened the heavy glass door it came off its hinges and fell, grazing her face! Luckily she caught it just in time to avoid serious injury. She still received a nasty bruise. I called the front desk and it took maintenance about 15 minutes to get upstairs and a nurse 20 minutes to come with an ice pack. Upon closer inspection, the door wasn't even attached properly! In fact it was missing a bolt to keep it mounted on the hinge! The maintenance guy said he the hardware to keep this door attached wasn't there! This means that either housekeeping never reported this problem or maintenance never fixed this problem. No one from management bothered to come upstairs to speak to us. I had to go to the lobby and ask for a manager on duty. Raymond was quick to respond and moved us to another room and apologized for the problems. But what really bothered me is that they never offered to comp me for my 6 hour stay even though I was set to come back and stay for another 12 nights! Instead, they charged me full rate for that nightmarish 6 hours! You can't make this stuff up! Upon our return from Boracay we were picked up from the airport via hotel car, greeted by Raymond and Marga (both who did their best to offer excellent service), and checked into a 1-bedroom suite. I thought, "OK, this is going to be alright." Two mornings later while using the washroom facilities my wife discovered water dripping onto her head from a light fixture above the toilet! We were told the suite above us let water leak from their shower onto the floor, but who knows if this was really the story? We had had enough! I told the hotel we were checking out. Raymond arranged for a hotel car and had all our bags loaded. He said the driver would be happy to take us to the airport and apologized for all the problems. To his surprise, I said, "We're not going to the airport. We're going to Raffles." Raffles is about 4 blocks away. I figured my wife had been through enough and decided to treat her to a nice hotel. The Makati Shangri-La should be much better than it is. It's in a great location, it has a grand feel, and the staff try really hard to make your stay enjoyable. But it's obvious they are being handcuffed by management whose main goal is to see how much services they can skimp on and still keep occupancy levels up. In fact, I had a chance to voice my concerns to Shangri-La's Area Manager, Alain Borgers, and frankly he seem rather indifferent as he did nothing about it. Oh well. This is one customer who isn't coming back.

Yelp
I have been to hotels all over the world, and this is one of my favorites. The hotel security makes you feel much safer than the other hotels in the area. The staff are exceptionally friendly and helpful. The breakfast is the best hotel breakfast you can get. It has a huge selection of items, and they are all delicious. The staff at the Sage bar are awesome and take great care of you. I have thoroughly enjoyed my stay here and look forward to the next time!

Yelp
Me and a friend wanted to have lunch but didn't know where to go as everything was closed for a bank holiday. So we decided to check the café at the Shangri La but had no idea what to expect. Of course we knew we wouldn't be disappointed by the brand and were just hoping the prices wouldn't be ridiculous. And they weren't! We got a club sandwich to share (in fact, I think the portion was more than enough to share between 3-4 people) and as we got chatting for hours, we stayed for an English high tea as well! It was amazing and felt like I was back in London! We got tea and cakes, sandwiches, chocolates... so cute! The most amazing part is they had a live piano playing and every hour or so, a whole string orchestra would walk into the room while playing! *_*

Yelp
This is the place I enjoy in Makati Metro area. The luxury and all the amenities here is great. I love using their spa and sauna baths. If you don't mind paying for the price $$$$, this is really great for relaxing and just enjoy the whole place. It is in the heart of Makati business center. The shopping and restaurants here also plenty to choose from.

Yelp
The hotel is older than the recent crop of casino hotels along the coastal area. But, nothing beats Shangri-La for location and accessibility to Makati's shops and dining options. The staff are very pleasant and helpful. The restaurant outlets are pretty good. Internet speed is pretty fast. The lobby lounge is a great place to hang it and meet with old friends for a quick drink. Live entertainment at the Sage Bar and by the lobby as well. Price point is just about right.

Yelp
While the Makati Shangri-La may have been the belle of the ball at one time, properties such as the Peninsula are easily outshining her now. The lobby is certainly grandiose though a bit formal; more traditional than elegant. You'll also notice the rooms could definitely use a good overhaul - the carpet is worn, the design is tired, and the ample space could be better utilized. I guess you could say that shangri-la isn't always defined as a paradise! Upon entering my room (#2002), the first thing I noticed was a strong mildew-like smell. Luckily, the room is large and the odor dissipated as I got closer to my bed yet it was persisent throughout my stay. Good news is, I was astonished by the size of the king-size bed...it may be two queen-size beds pushed together! Seriously, 6 adults could easily share this bed with room to spare. I had two comfortable nights of rest, so no complaints there. The bathroom was also of substantial size but felt dated. Shangri-La: please outfit your rooms with a better hairdryer! 1400 watts simply doesn't it cut it in 2015. Also kind of bizarre that you couldn't use the hairdryer in the bathroom due to safety reasons. You will likely enjoy a better-than-average stay at the Shangri-La, but you could certainly do better within the 'luxury' hotel segment in Makati. I had the chance to check out the neighboring Peninsula which is so much nicer! However, I booked my trip late and the rate I first saw was no longer available. Moral of the story: book early!

Yelp
My recent stay at the Makati Shangri-La was an emergency visit to the Philippines. I know I should've called in for my stay but I made my resos online but made some requests & which were quickly responded to via email. I usually stay at the City of Dreams in Entertainment City but I wanted something different since I knew I would be commuting for about two hrs each way everyday to Pampanga. Upon arriving at MNL at 11:45am I was greeted by the hotel rep who helped us with our luggage & reassured us our room was ready & if there was anything else we needed or forgot at home he could quickly call ahead so it would be in our room. I could not believe my ears! After a thirty minute trek on the Skyway we arrived at the hotel & were greeted by Kim; Kim checked us in quickly & supplied us with a map of the surrounding area & guided us through the lobby to our room. Kim made sure we knew the hours of the numerous facilities & eating establishments on site since we mentioned we would be leaving early & arriving late on a majority of our stay which was great. The pool apparently was open late as well which was on the same level as the fitness center. Our room was fabulous with a clear view of the Ayala Gardens. We absolutely loved how Janet from housekeeping made sure we had everything we needed in our room. Our transportation needs around Makati & even to Pampanga were all taken care of by Rica & Jessica. There was one day when we needed to get back to Pampanga due to an emergency & Rica took care of everything quickly: absolutely stress free. We don't know what we would have done without her! The selection of food at the hotel is great. We were fortunate enough to have Sharmaine share her warm smile with us at the Lobby Lounge. We were so undecided after reading the menu & her suggestions because everything sounded so good we went back several times for breakfast & a late night bite. We had the pleasure of dining at Bespoke Sage Grill several times as well were Joy & Jaylord took care of us. It's very rare to find a place in Asia were they prepare a steak medium rare or even rare for that matter but this place will & can do it. It just tells you the attention to detail the restaurant & hotel have when it comes to the guests needs. They have freshest products here. While checking out we were once again greeted by Kim. I have never been to a hotel where the person who greeted me is the same person to see me leave: absolutely unsurpassed & unrivaled services here at Makati Shangri-La! The during my whole stay I have never had so many people genuinely smile & greet me either good morning or good evening; the whole staff from the bellmen, the security guards, front desk, concierge to the housekeeping staff were all so friendly. I left the hotel with a such great energy & of course a huge smile.

Yelp
i will rate the hotel 4 but the food is 0 ( zero, nada) i ordered in room service for kare kare with rice and mushroom soup. the hotel management should fire the cook. the mushroom soup do not have any mushroom flavor taste. really bad for this kind of quality hotel serving awful soup to the guest. the kare kare has no flavor, the soup has no color vey pale to be considered as kare kare. the meat was not tender and did not taste like it should absorb the sauce for the flavor. i suspect the meat was previously cooked and stored in refrigerator. when a guest order kare kare they will prepare the sauce and just dropped the previously cooked meat that was stored in the ref. the meat should be cooked the same time the sauce is being cooked to absorb the kare kare sauce. the cook who prepared the mushroom soup and kare kare should be fired. i do not what is the standard of the kitchen manager who hired this cook. i challenge the shangri-la hotel manager to eat out at fine dining restaurant and taste the best quality mushroom soup served in a fine dining restaurant also try to eat at any kapampangan cooking restaurant like kabalen and abe. they served the best kare kare. if shangrila - la kitchen cannot cook goid mushroom soup and authentic kare kare , please remove it from your dining menu. do not be offended, this is an honest opinion.

Yelp
I had my Senior's graduation ball here, and the ballroom and food were super snazzy. I even stayed in one of the rooms with a bunch of friends afterwards, and it was an awesome time. But the reason why I'm giving Makati Shangri-La a full five stars is because of this: after grad ball, my friend and I were a) pretty drunk and b) feeling all the existential doubt washing over us in waves. High school was over! We're going to college! What now? "What now?" we kept asking each other. My drunk self thought the best course of action would be to climb to the rooftop (in my heels and a gown, mind you) and stare at the stars. It would be a better atmosphere for existential contemplation. After a lot of drunken stumbles, we finally reached the top, where the rooftop turned out to be just a bunch of machinery situated on top of the building. We were expecting some flat concrete area, and it kind of ruined our whole "contemplate our existence vibe". So we turned back and tried to get back down, but unfortunately we hadn't realized that the door to the roofs were locked from the inside. I had left my phone in the room, and my friend's phone had no signal, so we just stumbled around hoping someone would find us. We played the penis game, where you had to shout "penis" as loud as you could. We also threw a pencil off the side of the roof. Eventually, someone found us - the Shangri-La security crew, to be exact. Turns out, people weren't allowed up there, and there were security cams all over the place.( It still makes me giggle to think of a security guard having to watch two drunk kids yell "penis" from the top of a building.) They let us go with a warning, thank heavens, and we thanked them profusely for not letting us rot up there. Anyway 5 stars to Shangri-La for their excellent security and staff, and having the capacity to deal with crazed inebriated teens every February/March during prom and grad ball season. Kudos to you, hotel staff. Kudos to you, Shangri-La.

Yelp
Makati Shang is amazing place to hold an event. A friend of mine chose to have her debut here, and spared absolutely no expenses. The Rizal Ballroom was absolutely grand, in both size and layout. In the waiting area, before the event proper, waiters would go around serving hors d'oeuvres, and the candy bar had every candy bar had every candy you could imagine, from Chocnut to Ferrero Rochers. There was apt room to move around, never for a second did I feel crowded even with probably around 300+ guests. The Philharmonic Orchestra played a variety of beautiful tunes through our five course dinner, such as Collide by Howie Day, Some Nights by Fun., and even Paparazzi by Lady Gaga! Our dinner was sublime, from the nicoise salad appetizer to the orange sorbet dessert. The program went by smoothly, with a charming host and dazzling musical numbers. Hope to one day hold a family reunion here or something!

Yelp
In my time as a government lackey, I've been to and worked with so many hotels for conferences, events, press junkets, and whole lot more. To make these things happen, I not only need the hotel to have the right facilities, they also have to be willing to work with my and my restrictions as a representative of the national government. Thank the gods Makati Shangri-la is one of those hotels. This means that I've been here so many times I practically know the place by heart. We've hosted conferences here, meetings, press events - we've even billeted investors and visiting dignitaries here. Their rooms are good, their event spaces are presentable, and their food is great. What else do you need?

Yelp
There is much to be said about Makati Shangri La, but allow me to recount the reasons why I, as a coordinator, love this hotel. 1. Rooms - The rooms in Makati Shangri La are very spacious, have suitable pieces of furniture, well-maintained bathrooms, and plush beds. 2. Rizal Ballroom and other function rooms - There is no denying that the Rizal Ballroom is probably one of the most well-loved venues for weddings and other social events. The rooms by the Rizal Drive entrance (otherwise know as the M rooms) plus the ones at the second floor (known as the P rooms) are also available to accommodate more intimate functions. 3. Food - The quality of food at Makati Shangri La is, as expected, of high quality as the strict standards of the Shangri La is implemented as much as possible. 4. Service - This is one of the things we as events planners can always vouch for with events at Makati Shangri La. The servers are always well-trained, well-informed and well-versed whether they are regular or contractual employees. 5. Staircase - The staircase at Makati Shangri La is probably one of the most photographer staircases in the country. The two winding staircases are grand, making for a beautiful backdrop or setting for portraits and advertorial, high-fashion inspired shots.

Yelp
For this review, I will be speaking about the function rooms and not the hotel rooms. As a musician, almost every year, I hold recitals with different musical schools as a guest and sometimes as a special visitor. Last December, I was rattled by my music teacher who organizes recitals for me, when she informed me that I will be playing for a recital in less than three weeks! It was the end of the semester in my university, and things were getting out of control, and the recital added! There was even a hassle of venues, but all of these stressors went away when I saw the very place: a function room in Makati Shang! I arrived early, of course, and the room looked lovely and relaxing. I was sure that the attendees would feel relaxed, as the room was clean, cool, picturesque, has good lighting for photo ops, mixed with great music coming their way! I also loved how their staff is very helpful and kind. They assisted us in finding seats for the piano, arranging the stage, and also the seats of the guests. Overall, the function rooms in Makati Shang are efficient, classic, clean and very cozy. It's also good for small group celebrations/events, or a large-audience occasion, because their function rooms vary in size depending on the expected number of people in your event.

Yelp
I work from home and I don't get to interact much with the people that I work with, so I'm always excited when my boss (who spends most of her time developing our businesses abroad) is in town because it would usually mean a meeting in one of the swankier hotels' lobbies. We always somehow end up in Makati Shang's lobby cafe. It is comfortable and well-lit, with tables and lounge furniture that can accommodate anything, from quiet brunches to power lunches with colleagues. The food is a bit unremarkable and the service is a bit sluggish at times, though I just love the feel and the ambiance of the lobby. They would usually have an entire string orchestra to serenade the entire lobby, but this gets a bit annoying when you have to yell to a colleague to be heard over the twenty or so violin players that go around the room in some sort of dreadful parade - it's good when you are in the mood to lounge around, but they would make this racket during office hours, when people usually go there to meet clients. I think it's very distracting because they play popular love songs and show tunes that just make me pause and listen.

Yelp
My experiences with Shangri-La have been always superb. VIP like treatment is the most reason being why I always like going out for fine dining and it seems to be that I always look for Shari-La hotel no matter where I go. It's probably because I am already certain and confident that I would not only receive a special treatment but also anticipating that the food and services I will get would definitely good. People are nice, smiley and friendly. But there's only one more thing that actually made me write this review - that super cute adorable beagle with the security guard at their entrance when I had my lunch there. Wish I could share it's photo I took.

Yelp
Great hotel and worth every penny. Security, food, and entertainment are top-notch. However, the service is terrible. My family and I stayed there for a few days. Unfortunately, the people there are extremely bias to Filipinos. My parents were repeatedly kicked out from the main lobby area. They told them to move out of chairs for no apparent reason when literally no one was sitting at that area. We would have moved if the space became full, but there was no reason for them to get asked to leave; especially as people who paid for the hotel. Speaking of which, did I forget to say that the hotel is near a huge mall for all your shopping pleasures? :)

Yelp
Mom's youngest brother treated us to dinner here. Suffering from the heat and jetlag so don't remember much except for the "feel" of the place. Very upscale. Good food but presentation was a bit "precious." Service was excellent and didn't turn up their noses at the tourists who dressed way too casually for a formal restaurant. Geared for more of the business crowd than a rowdy family reunion.

Yelp
Makati Shangri-La is our company's events place of choice. Their impeccable service is what keeps us loyal to them. For the past three years, we've already hosted 7 events here and each experience has been a delight. Everything goes on smoothly from ingress to egress. You can really feel that you are taken care of. Coordination with their event managers is a breeze, too. We've been so confident with their service that we even often just see them on the day of our event itself! If you plan on hosting an event here, I highly recommend you get in touch with Anna Calderon, she's super sweet and very accommodating! She'll even make sure to drop by and check how everything is going. After each event, they always send out a survey where you can assess their services and your experience with them which is how customer service should be. Looking forward to another event here in the coming months!

Yelp
Wow! Just wow. Nice design, awesome architecture that has its old feeling in the lobby. But old in a good way. The staff is exceptinally well trained, friendly and attentive. The food is really good. I can recommend the jaoanese restaurant in particular. Their sashimi is exceptional! If you are looking for a nice place to stay go there.

Yelp
First time here for a business trip. Very nice hotel all around. I got an upgrade for almost nothing--to the executive floor and breakfast (didn't book it with one). The room is very, very clean. The bed is as comfortable as a hotel bed can get. The bathroom is clean, spacious and has all amenities, including all the toiletries you could imagine. Iron and board are there too. The towels seem fresh and fairly new--some 5-star hotels have towels that are kind of beat up, I guess they miss the routine check ups. The hotel is in the heart of Makati, and a few feet from the three big malls in the city (not the mall of Asia though). Parking I learned is free for guests. The service is what distinguishes the hotel, in my opinion. The staff leave NOTHING to be desired. All restaurants are excellent. Breakfast is very good. Haven't tried the sushi restaurant (yet) but the sushi in the buffet of 'Circles' were not bad. Afternoon tea with a piano and occasional classical band and soft rock is ON most of the times. There is an ATM in the lobby. All in all, I wouldn't stay anywhere else.

Yelp
I guess I would have to admit that anything Shangri-la is awesome. Other than staying in EDSA Shangri-la Hotel for "stay-cations," I also like to check in at Makati Shangri-la from time to time. I just never get disappointed with any of the aspects of the hotel. I love the service and everyone greets you with a smile. The staff is very well tailored and I immediately knew that they were trained very well. All of them knew what they were doing and it was less of a hassle asking questions because they knew all the answers to what I asked. They just always offered assistance a much as they could. The rooms are great as usual. Nothing is mediocre when it comes to their hotels. The rooms are very well furnished and designed. The mattresses for the beds are also very comfortable. It made me sleep in under 5 minutes! It just goes to show how the excellence of their hotel chains is very consistent and is valued very highly.
