18 Cool People on the Face Masks They Swear By

"I love the masks from Make Manifest, the coolest little boutique and community space for local artistic vendors and entrepreneurs in Bed Stuy, Brooklyn. Much of what they sell—including the face masks I adore—is made from gorgeous African fabrics and materials."

i love this community space so much! i literally put everyone on. my friends introduced me about 3 years ago and it's become a third place for me. the owner, Isha, is an absolute joy and inspiration. she's Grenadian, too, and i especially love that she serves sweet treats from our country such as currant rolls and authentic cocoa tea. Isha keeps the manifesting and alive with many community activations throughout each season. i met and became friends with Anthony, the designer behind "Muddaland Worldwide" (featured at Make Manifest) and the shop's Director of Arts and Culture. watching the space grow from retail into a creative community has been a blessing. i love shopping there- i've purchased many staple pieces and every day items like mango butter. if you're a creative of any kind, especially of West-Indian or African descent, this is definitely an important place to be!

Beautiful, gorgeous space. The owner Aisha is kind, authentic, genuine and truly cares for the community. The artisan wares are unique - you will, no matter how much you try, spend money :) Aisha supports local creators and fellow entrepreneurs, so you'll get some of the best items that Brooklynites have made - fashion, avant-garde jewelry, artisanal and natural skincare and body care, decor items, and more. I love that this feels not only a place to shop, but also a place to hang and meet the Brooklyn creative class - DJs, independent filmmakers, artisans etc. It is somewhat of a gathering ground for the community around ... so grab coffee, shop, make new friends. There is an art gallery next door, and Peaches a few blocks down ... c'mon now !!!

This is a PSA!!! I LOVE this store! Just be prepared to NOT leave empty handed no matter how hard you try. The clothing and items are so unique and vibrant. The owner is a passionate entrepreneur who has poured her heart and soul into curating this space. You’ll not only love her and every item in the store, the neighborhood it’s in is beyond full of culture and beautiful. Highly recommend!

Such a beautiful place!! you can literally feel the good vibes before walking in the door. The space itself is lovely. I appreciate that they’re not just selling “trendy” African prints like everyone else. Everything is really authentic. The merchandise is either imported directly from Africa or handmade by local black artisans. I've gotten a few pieces from there, jewelry and clothing, and I never failed to turn heads!! Each item is handmade and it feels really nice wearing something I know not many people have. The owners are very accommodating and even offered to customize a piece that I wanted to fit differently. Overall, I’m glad I found this little gem in bedstuy. It’s now one of my favorite places to shop and my go-to black owned business in Brooklyn

Cozy, invigorating and afro-futuristic funky. The sisters, Aisha and Hakima are warm and oh so creative. The whole space is uplifting. Go quickly and browse slowly.

Yelp
I owe this establishment a major apology. I wrote a 1 star review around 8 months ago but it wasn't the correct name of the shop. They are side by side and are connected in some way but it wasn't Make Manifest BK that provided the horrible experience. Make Manifest BK is so worth checking out. African inspired and very unique. Please check them out you won't be disappointed, I never have been.

Yelp
The ownership shifted in the space, so it's a bit different than before. There is still an array of African fabrics, goods, garments, art, and jewelry from various local artists. The brand i purchased from here primarily is no longer carried there. Of course, it's still a central location for all the party vibes during TAMA Sundays in the warmer months. There are events sometimes, and it's a mixed bag. Some events are fun and well attended with a great mix of staff, friends, family, community, etc. Other times, it's super clique-ish with a side of shade. If you need vibrant goods, they still have that down pat. Check it out.

Yelp
This store really carries it all. From essentials, to stylish, clothes, to art, to authentic African home decor. I felt like I walked into another world once entering. The ambience was pure. They also hold local events that feature some of the best creatives in the BedStuy neighborhood. This place is a true gem.

Yelp
This place is magical. You can always find some unique pieces whether it's jewelry, clothes, apartment decor. I LOVE IT!
