Sara was very helpful. I took a class to learn to use my sewing machine and even though it was older she was very knowledgeable about it.

We love this place! My son (13) and I went today for a class to make stained glass pieces. We LOVED every second of it! It was my first class but I sent him before. He has made a clay TARDIS, a bowl, a dragon, sword, and other things at the summer day camp. It's like a gym where you don't have to work out, and can use their equipment to make cool things and keep. There's literally classes for everyone. They have tech stuff and 3D printers, wood working, ceramics, painting, stained glass, jewelry making, screen printing, ink coasters, soap making, crochet and knitting groups, senior and student discounts and so much more. We loved it! Going back next weekend!

This is an amazing studio to either take classes or dabble in something new! I love the flexibility of the space and all of the useful supplies at your fingertips. Not to mention the staff are absolutely delightful! Definitely a must do for those in the South Bend/Mishawaka area!

Was so much fun! The class was small and quaint, and the instructor made you laugh! Will do again!

So fun! Our instructor, Silvaan, was very patient and an excellent teacher. Great experience and will definitely be back.

A friend and I was looking for a fun new art activity to do together and ran across this place on our search. We did resin art and it was so fun and are looking forward to going back and doing other art activities there together. Just love this place. Wish I would have known about it sooner.

Second class here, and we enjoyed both! Great way to spend two hours.

Yelp
This is one of my favorite local places. I hand-build pottery at home and fire it here. The prices for day-passes and materials are great, and I love their flexibility. Sometimes I bring a friend or three for a few hours, and it's always a hit.

Yelp
Don't bother wasting your hard earned money here. The mediocre instruction and "craftsmanship" from the employees can be easily and cheaply replaced by a trip to the crafts section at Mijer. The condescending, cocky, self righteous attitudes that give this place a piss poor aura are a great way to ruin your day trying to learn something of Fred your creative side.

Yelp
Love the look and feel of this quaint shop. And don't let its size dissuade you -- Make South Bend has several finds that will turn your head (and likely open your wallet). I got to visit Make South Bend during one of its Makers Markets, which meant that I got to chat with some makers along with shopping. In particular, I chatted with an awesome jewelry maker. I wish I remembered her name. I bought two hammered copper necklaces from her -- two for $20 was a deal I couldn't pass up -- and she seemed so excited to be there and talk about her craft. Make hosted a soap maker, other jewelers and some paper goods from what I can remember. And the display at the front of the store really drew me in. There were a few T-shirts and tank tops that I wanted so much to take home with me. Alas, they were only available in small and 2X. I definitely plan to peak in on my next South Bend visit and see if they have more available. Make also hosts classes. If I lived in Michiana, I would definitely take advantage of these. Melton crayon art, pine cone projects, wreath making, screenprinting, laser cutting Star Wars ornaments -- I so want in! And as I told the owner, I love that she focuses on the crafts part of making, as well as more technical aspects, like laser cutting and Arduino programming. So many makerspaces only showcase technical arts; Make has a more well-rounded vision. South Bend peeps, find your inner creative at Make!

Yelp
A terrible place to call a a makers space. The staff is rather pretentious and the lessons are over priced for something you can easily look up on the internet for free. Do yourself a big favor and take your money elsewhere. I will not be returning.

Yelp
Do better girls. The girl we experienced was snarky, rude and sarcastic. Empower and encourage people who are paying for your services. For a small business in an environment like today, you are missing the mark entirely. Very disappointed in this place...what a joke.

Yelp
Awesome place! It's nice to work with a different kind of medium, besides the painting and ceramics workshops usually seen. We made soldered glass terrariums.

Yelp
You're far better off just going to Hobby Lobby and getting a DIY kit. It is far cheaper and more instructive than wasting your time attending a class here.

Yelp
Very disappointed with the wheel throwing 101 class. 5 participants in the class and 3 pottery wheels. Instructions done in 2 parts by the time that I sat down for my turn to do what was shown, I had forgotten what was instructed. Asked for help each time and the instructor ended up sculpting my bowl for me instead of reinstructing me with a different piece of clay (same way with my husband's bowl). The class was from 6pm to 8pm and we were done by 710pm (which included starting at 615pm). The 3 other participants in the 101 class started making another piece because they signed up for the 102 class the following week (additional $40 each). We payed $40 each for brief instructions and the instructor to sculpt our bowls.

Yelp
I have taken one class at Make SB and really enjoyed it. I took an oil painting class--painting clouds. In the past I had taken one U can Paint 2 class, and I enjoyed Make South Bend's class a lot more. In the class I was given paints and a canvas and a few pictures of clouds for inspiration. I feel like I was allowed and encouraged to experiment with the medium, not made to be a part of the "Henry Ford" approach to what can hardly, really, be called art that is taking over so much of the pseudo-crafting, for profit enterprises out there. At Make South Bend I got instruction in oils as well as a relaxing evening with friends. I don't think MSB's one night classes are a substitute for actual art classes in which you learn and grow gradually, but for someone who isn't sure about making the time or cost commitment to, say, the SB museum's class series, this is an excellent introduction.

Yelp
I stopped in yesterday and made a very cute birds nest ring from beads and copper wire. Michelle is super-nice, and she gives you plenty of direction without hovering too close while you work. They have a lot going on! If you loved ceramics in college and you've been wishing for a place where you could do it again, check it out!
