After eating at 8 different stores of spanakopita, I found the gold medalist 🥇. Efharisto Poli.

I randomly stopped here as I saw a queue and got curious. The bougatsa costs 2€ and was very good. Give it a try if you pass by.

Determined to find the best bougatsa in the city and, this was easily it. Crisp flakey pastry, sweet but not too sweet custard filling. Went back several times. Highly recommend!

The best pastry in Athens! The place looks old but trust the taste, the spinach and feta are delicious.

My family is from Serres so I know what Bougatsa is supposed to taste like. I can tell you that is as close to the original as you can get without driving six hours up to Northern Greece to get it. The price is also extremely reasonable one large square is only 2€.

Simply amazing spinach pie, this little shop is a perfect choice to taste the traditional recipe.

If you want a taste of vintage Athenian authenticity, this is the place to get your pies. The pies are amazing, and they've been this way since 1974. An Athenian landmark for foodies. It's not just the taste, it's the concept: it's the 1970s, you work somewhere nearby, or you're out and about in the lawyer district of Athens, you're on foot, you're hungry, you know there's that corner shop, you get a pie in a paper bag and some napkins, you go back to work, or continue with your busy day. As their name implies the pies were a tribute to and made in the Northern style of Thessaloniki. . (Note: these pies are salty, so, please, bear that in mind. You're getting local, original recipes, not diet-friendly versions!)
