Needed to get two acrylic sheets laser cut / etched for an arcade project - the process was super smooth and turn-around time was quick. Pieces were cut and ready within 2-3 days after I paid. I really wish I lived closer to make use of Maker Labs’ facilities, but if you need something made, I wouldn’t hesitate to reach out. Great experience.

These guys were great. Needed some ply CNCing for a truck buildout. Fair prices, excellent communication, and delivered on time, couldn't have asked for more. Derek's work is superb! Although the website says vector PDFs preferred, they were able to work with .step files, which is an easy export from Fusion 360.

Highly recommend the cutting board class as an intro to this space for those curious about the facility or learning a new skill! Instructor John was clear and kind, instilling confidence in the use of the shop tools to craft the boards.

We first encountered MakerLabs several years ago during an East Van Cultural Crawl. We were amazed at the facility and the equipment they have for artists and craftsmen. After ordering an Hinoki plank from Japan, MakerLabs was my choice to mill a bath tub tray I had designed. The price was reasonable and turn around was just a week. Workmanship was incredible. A big bonus was their ability to laser etch a kanji phrase on the front edge. Thanks to each of the artists who worked on this project!

I've had my studio at Makerlabs for 4.5 years and it's a great little community and a great place to work. There's an energy there that's very motivating to work on your own projects. The members and staff are very helpful when you have questions and there's a wide selection of tools to use that most people wouldn't have the space or funds to access on their own otherwise. You do need to take a class before using each type of tool / equipment to ensure you're using everything properly and safely, which is totally reasonable. The classes are reasonably priced as well. If you're looking to learn new things and have a creative environment to work in, I'd definitely recommend checking them out.

Maker spaces are showing up more frequently but few offer to 'teach' new usable skills. The requirement is to take a 'lab' in order to familiarize yourself with the various equipment. A good idea but it's 'really' expensive.
