It is one of the nicest and sexiest sushis 🍣 😍 It brings joy and happiness to your day. The price is quite affordable. The vibe here is amazing 👏 The location is awesome 👌 The quality is best 👍 Eat me but never beat me 😅😂 Highly recommend it after a night out :) Sexy to the core, give more and more 😍

Google
This sushi spot fulfils any sushi craving. I like most the varied selection of predesigned sushi rolls and the creative use of some ingredients I’ve never seen in sushi rolls before. The ability to create your own sushi rolls is also great and the portioning is done in such a way that the rolls will come out great any way. The store and sit down area is clean and the service quick. The prices are also surprisingly competitive!

Google
Decent sushi with a decent quality/price ratio. It has a nice and tasty variety of sushi! They also used have new sushi suggestions monthly which is always interesting! It is recommended either to take away or to eat at the place. It gets crowded after 6 pm. The queue can sometimes get un to the entrance door but the staff is kind and the longest waiting time I’ve waited was around 30’

Google
The taste itself was good though the roll was quite small but the matter was the service quality. They forgot the miso soup I've already paid and I had to ask them twice. It came only after I finished half of the meal. (I stopped eating and waited until the soup is ready) Miso was at the front desk but the staff just simply forgot. And I couldn't hear any 'sorry' message for the delay. It was my last dinner in Belgium and I don't think I'm gonna come back this country again.

Google
Outstanding quality, low price. I love this place. I placed a custom order and it was ready to go in under 10 minutes. The low price and outstanding quality of the sushi makes me want to return there immediately! Also worth mentioning that the staff there, despite being pretty busy, is super friendly and welcoming! 🍣🍱

Google
The food is definitely delicious and fresh. Teriyaki rice bowl was a bit salty but between five good eaters we tried nearly the whole menu and that was the only disappointment. I was not sure if I should give 4 or 5 stars at first since if you are not early you have to wait for a long time to have your hands on those delicious food but this is their model and looks like it s working for them so prioritizing the taste I decided to give 5 stars. The staff is a pleasant bunch of mostly young people with a great attitude.

Google
Great portions and fresh sushi in the lovely neighborhood of Châtelain. Not the nicest ambiance inside for a dinner so would more advise for takeout!

Lukas Vrabec

Google
Not the best sushi I ever tried, but for that price great place for quick dinner. I can recommend.

Lina A.

Yelp
One of the best sushi in town for a super affordable price (8 sushis for 5,5€) or a big donburi bowl for 9€ ! Very good and fresh. The only thing is that you have two "menus" of California makis with 5 option each Or Make your own maki, california roll. So no sashimis or simple sushi. You also have 4 or 5 donburi options Still a very good restaurant that I definitely recommend!!

Kelly L.

Yelp
Went around 8:30, there was no line. The food came fast. This place has a good price. The bowl cost around 10-11€ and each sushi roll (8 pieces) cost 5-6€. The sushi was alright. Rice was moist. Recommend this place if you're looking for sushi that has a lower price range with a decent potion.

Elizabeth S.

Yelp
We had great sushi here! Love that you can make your own. Staff was nice and eating inside and outside was clean.

Chantee F.

Yelp
I'm really very surprised there was such a long queue. It must be the price because the sushi was quite average. It seems to be one of the latest trends like build your own poke bowls. I wish there was more authenticity and less sushi for the masses. I ordered two rolls which were both served California style. The dragon roll was good having shrimp tempura and cucumber with extra sauce at the table. The makifornia roll was less impressive probably because they forgot to add any spicy sauce as advertised. The result was a plain tuna roll with avocado. Even the fried onion toppings didn't add much flavor. Overall if you are looking for something cheap and cheerful it will do the trick. Perhaps their WTF(G) foie grae roll would be ok. They are also quick so as busy as they were still got food out. However if you are looking for quality sushi then go somewhere else. You will find a better ambiance and sashimi worth paying for.

Yelp
Very nice place yet a little too expensive. The sushi are good but the portions are small compared to other places

Yelp
- Price/Quality: The Maki (sushi) and donburi (rice with fish and veggies) seem fresh and pretty decent overall. Lunch menus like 'starter + fresh or funky maki' or 'fresh + funky' around 9 euros. I took the last one which was €9,90. You can also prepare your own maki, more expensive though. - Health: Salty soy sauce, cream cheese in maki, an amount of white rice in your donburi, but also fresh fish and spices, avocado, you'll be fine. - Pleasure: The rice in the maki was cooked real nice if you compare to other sushi places. Fish was the way it has to be, melting on your tongue. - Quantity: Still hungry, we went to Tagawa (Japanese supermarket 'around the corner') for daifuku and ice cream :) - Variety: No boats, just a menu with two kinds of maki rolls, that I chose from a dozen other creations. No ginger, just soy sauce and wasabi. Extra's like a bowl of edamame for €2,50. Sidenote: not of real importance but interieur has an 'indoor playground cafetaria' feel

Yelp
I was looking for authentic Japanese sushi and donburi bowls in Brussels Belgium... Makisu did not disappoint. Although at first glance it may seem like a fast food joint- the quality of the food is not sacrificed with the automation of their ordering system. You have to ask for the wasabi separately and both soy sauces had a very sweet "sucrose" sort of taste, but even with out the sauces the F O O D was A M A Z I N G! I'm going back next time I'm in Brussels Belgium. yess I ate all of this myself

Kim Henri V.

Yelp
I don't know why Makisu seems so popular. Ok, at first sight its concept seems original but in fact, it's only a fast food that gives the possibility to compose your own makis. Very similar to choosing your sandwich filling in a sandwich bar. Prices are low (5-6€ for a 8-pieces maki) for the quantity & quality you get but it's the only positive aspect of the place. Restaurant is small, overcrowded and noisy. Service is slow, music is loud and tables not always clean (customers are supposed to clear their table before leaving but don't always do it correctly). Bottom line, it was a disappointing diner...

Sabrina Y.

Yelp
Donburi here is affordable and tasty! I would say the rice bowls are more similar to poke than Japanese don, nonetheless good. We had a chicken katsu don and a make my own which included salmon, shiitake mushroom, asparagus, and other toppings. Both dons had unagi (eel) sauce on top. The sashimi was fresh. All ingredients on chopped into small pieces, making it easy to chew or mix with rice if desired. The unagi sauce was fairly sweet so I would suggest asking for less, or put on side if possible. Other than that, staff was friendly, environment was conducive to food and chatter. Great experience overall!

Yelp
Waiters are nice, kitchen is open, pretty small restaurant, so if you come after 8 o'clock in the evening, it's full, but it's possible to order sushis and go back home with them ! And as sushis are ate pretty quickly, if you wait 10minutes, you will find a free spot. Sushis are really good, I made my own sushis (check the photos with "California"), I ordered 24 sushis, after that, I ordered 16 more, because they are sooooo gooood ! I will go back there for others sushis, I want to taste all of them :) Definitely a place to sushis !

Yelp
Ok, ok, ok, easy tiger my turn now. There are already 9 reviews in french for this place with an average of 4.5 stars. Now I am pushing this average up a little. Simply because I LOVE this place, it is tiny, as it is small, it is scarce and scarce means special, and special means unique etc... Now what makes it special: Everythng! First of all the story of the this cute couple (who set up the place and still work there), who loved japanese food and saw a place they loved in Canada, took the chef back in their suitcases and asked him to help them setup there own Japanese restaurant. And he did and what came out of this (very shortened story): Makisu! The decor is dominated by wood (bamboo I believe) it looks like giant chopsticks all around the dining room. Table, stools and benches all wood, but without it feeling like a chalet. The kitchen is open.... oh yeah, I love transparency, and two chef are hard at work back there. You can order to eat in or to go. And then for the selection. In the name there is Maki, so obviously they do a wild selection of Makis, some creative (without going stupid crazy), and some more conventional, but they all have in common an impeccable taste and texture. And as the place is becoming increasingly popular, no risk of getting rice that laid out to dry, or salmon which is not fresher than fresh. They have a great turnover so my guess is they must get 2 fish deliveries a day... :-) just kiddin' No seriously the makis are extremely nice. Now I am sort of an adventurer, and lazy too, so my order was somewhat like, we are 5 give me some of this good stuff, and along came two Donburis, nice lukewarm rice bowls with shrimp, chicken or salmon and good seasoning.... simple but very nice. I recommend. Ok that's it for me, next step for you guys out there, run and enjoy Makisu.

Yelp
The place to be du moment... Pas cher, formule originale, bon, rapide, simple! À essayer!

Viviana G.

Yelp
Food is five stars! One less because the place is cramped and with few seats. But the sushis are delicious and the quality/price ratio is probably the best I had in Brussels so far! We had two of their proposed set makis and we made two our own. Total 24 pieces, one edameme and two waters for 28EUR. I will definitely come back!

Avgustina V.

Yelp
Not the best sushi in town but very good price/ quality. It's crowdy and loud but for a fast dinner/ lunch is worth the try. Best feauture: make your own makis :)

Lauren B.

Yelp
The best part was when I sat at a dirty table for five minutes while several staff walked right past me. One even cleaned the empty dirty table right next to me. I was ready to drop a mint on sushi tonight and this place was a chaotic mess. We walked out and won't be back.

Alex S.

Yelp
I don't quite get the buzz of this place. After having tried it more than 5 times, my conclusion is that there are far better sushi options in Brussels. Long (very, very long) lines, unprofessional service (incomplete order, had to remind the staff four times before getting all items), messy atmosphere with dirty tables and chaotic trays everywhere, and perhaps most disappointingly average makis with tiny pieces of fish in them.

Sean S.

Yelp
Great place. The service was efficient and the food was delicious. The atmosphere has a fun energetic feel. The sushi was surprisingly delicious with good flavor and it was fresh. The bowls were a good portion and also delicious.

Jamie L.

Yelp
Fantastic, fresh, good quality, and affordable. A modern take on Japanese cuisine at a reasonable price. I was pleasantly surprised with Makisu. We got several dishes all at a reasonable price. (Set of maki 8 pieces) average price €5. I recommend the rice with sashimi and avocado along with the edamame beans as a side. It will be the only sushi bar I go to in brussels. Others I have found he quality to be questionable.

D. B.

Yelp
I'm docking them one-star since my earlier 5 star review, because of the repeated experience of ordering take-out and having absolutely no where to stand when waiting. This place a is a victim of its own success, although you do have to wonder how they never thought about a spot for even a few customers to stand while waiting. Yesterday was particularly bad - after work the queue inside went right back to the door. No problem waiting given how good it is and how nice the staff are. But by the time you reach the cash register, you either need to block everyone and constantly breath in to let staff past, or sit on the lap of a fellow diner who's unfortunate enough to sit near the cash desk. Hopefully they either move or buy out the building beside them, because the tiny space they have just doesn't fit their needs!

Olivia D.

Yelp
Well... I definitely like this place and will come back, but it remains kind of a fast-food... a healthy fast-food. I would say it's a good alternative to fast-food we know (with hamburgers, conservatives, fries, fat, etc.) : it goes very fast, it's delicious, it's not pricy... and it's HEALTHY! Other bonus, you're not hungry an hour later comparing to McDo or whatever. Next time I want something quick and healthy, I'll go there.

Michaël D.

Yelp
Co aider this a sushi takeaway place with more then a few seats. Fast preparation and friendly people. First place in my life where I liked untraditional sushi. With untraditional I for example mean the foie Gras sushi (wtf??) Definitely worth a try!

J T.

Yelp
I hate leaving negative reviews, but after years of horrible service you guys certainly deserve one. You know your busy hours, plan your resources accordingly!! 40 minute queue just to order, another 25 minutes to get the food! It's an absolute joke. Hire more staff & increase your kitchen capacity. This one star rating is even too generous for the way you conduct your business.

Margaux H.

Yelp
The sushi place in Brussels. The best is to order by phone before and pick up your sushis, you don't have to make the line ;) The donburis are great

Pierre D.

Yelp
Good but not exceptional. You can have good maki here at a fairly decent price, but it's certainly not the best in town. A positive point is that the food is pretty fresh due to the high turnover. If you look for makis at a competitive price you need to be here, but if you look for the best makis of Brussels, pass your way.

Sab S.

Yelp
It's an ok fast casual sushi place. The reason for my 4 stars is bc every time I've gone something is off. I think it's a better place for take out. First time we went, there was no soy sauce and the server insisted terryaki was soy sauce. Then the second time we went, it was during rush hour and impossible to get seating and even when you did find seating it was awkward bc ppl were queuing in front and I had to sit on the same side of the booth to avoid ppl elbowing me in the head. So we had a whole audience while trying to eat dinner. Obviously this is something out of their control but that's why I think it's best to do take out with this place.

Denny H.

Yelp
It was good, but it definitely felt more like a take-out vibe. I've had many sushi so this place was simply OK. I got the roll with teriyaki chicken that lacked teriyaki; it would've been better if they drizzled some on there. Also, the line was out the door, which made it confusing because it wasn't that great of a place. For a Japanese restaurant, I was hoping for a more sit-down and quiet sort of vibe, but it had a fast-paced/take-out/fast food vibe. If I was desperately craving sushi, I would do the grab n go at the stores instead of waiting in the long line.

Emma A.

Yelp
Best sushi in Brussels. Donuri bowls are incredible. Super long line but you can order online or to-go

Dmi R.

Yelp
Mmmmh. Tasty maki, from 12.00 to 15.00 - menu for 9.90, which means maki with a discount. Don't forget to add beans and soup. Always crowded in that time. Remember that there are no reservations and you cannot occupy tables without making an order at the cashiers.

Lukasz Z.

Yelp
A great place. Very hipster but the food is simple and good.

JenFred G.

Yelp
Cool, hip, trendy sushi joint. Very busy and at times feels cramped. Sushi combos are creative and prices are really low. We tried the strawberry fields roll which was unique and we liked how on some of the other rolls they added fried onions. You can create your own rolls and that concept was unique. Overall it's cheap sushi which lacks some flavor.

Delphine L.

Yelp
Very good, fresh, inexpensive. Only rolls, but you can create yours. Good to take-away, the place itself is often crowded and noisy.

Jan V.

Yelp
Pretty decent sushi but nothing exceptional. It is good for a quick sushi fix if you need one and you are in the area. The turnover rate is pretty high and the menu is not very large so I am pretty sure the sushi is freshly made. That being said, nothing that I had really took me away and - although this is purely preference - I am not a big fan of overly Westernised sushi ingredients.

Arnaud D.

Yelp
Amazing place to eat! Great atmosphere, great ambiance, amazing food, more than amazing service (with a smile on the face, for free!) All in all, one of my favourite places in Brussels! Love the place, would recommend it to everyone, everyday!

Charlotte D.

Yelp
Very good sushi and quick service at a very fair price! My number one sushi place in Brussels! Not really suited for groups though, it's a pretty tiny place :-)

Karmela N.

Yelp
Great selection of sushi, very friendly staff who speaks great English and on time service, even though they are always busy with orders. Till now the best we have tried in Ixelles. Thank you!

Rob C.

Yelp
This place doesn't need yet another positive review but, well, they deserve it. My favorite non-traditional sushi shop in Brussels. Their take-away option is great. Try everything!

Ella B.

Yelp
I love this place! Easy, fast, cheap, good makis. Service is correct and effective, great spot for a quick lunch or for a takeaway.

Astrid M.

Yelp
Good and unusual maki that worth a try ! The place is nice, even though it's so successful you might wait a long time before getting your food.

Emily S.

Yelp
Best sushi I've had in Europe. Great price too 14€ for three rolls of 8pieces.

Syazwana H.

Yelp
I've just moved to brussels and this is by far the best place to have sushi rolls on the go. The Don Buris are also worth trying. Just don't expect he traditional stuff and seats are limited :)

Jason S.

Yelp
Have never eaten in, place looks too cramped with the permanent line of takeout ppl snaking through the place. If all you want is decent maki without too much pizzazz then this is the best deal in town - fresh ingredients and very good prices. Annoying that they now no longer take phone orders after 6.30 pm

Richie W.

Yelp
Very good sushi. You can build your own maki which I thought was cool. My only issue is there weren't many sushi options but overall the quality of the roll were great

Caroline E.

Yelp
Best sushi option I have found in Brussels so far. Service was fast and friendly, the selection of sushi included both the traditional rolls as well as new-to-me varieties. With a friend, I tried 4 different kinds of sushi and loved them all. I will definitely come back!

Carme N.

Yelp
Nice place if you want eat fast and healthy! A little bit crowded in lunch time but still ok

Melzanie S.

Yelp
Hooray, recently Makisu opened a new shop in the Sainte Catherine neighbourhood, rue de Flandre. The concept is simple and brilliant: chose what fish, veggies and sauce you want in your maki. Or you can chose from the menu. Nothing too crazy (except maybe the foie gras) The maki with salmon, cilantro, avocado and mango was deliciously freshening. Very good price quality here. Average price for 8 maki's is 5,50 euro. We will definitely come back for more!

L H.

Yelp
A good middle of the road sushi house - somewhat of a fast-food feel but the sushi was solid although not exceptional. You order first then sit down. It was extremely busy when we went (with a line out the door) but the line moves at a good pace and tables free up fast also so by the time you make it to order we were able to sit down without a problem.

Emma S.

Yelp
Would definitely go again! Our favourite was, surprisingly, the foie gras sushi!! One thing- the layout of the restaurant on rue Bailli was confusing. The tables are at the beginning and you order at the end. If you're with someone and they grab a free table while you're waiting to order... that is an apparent "no no" and the server was visibly annoyed with us. oops!.

Julie C.

Yelp
Makisu has good sushi for a low price. I only recommend take away because the setting is not very cosy or authentic. It's modern sushi with a twist.
