The building of the Latvian Fine Arts Museum, located in Riga's old town, is not only an exhibition in itself, but also contains dozens of exhibits. Each season hosts different exhibitions, which are located on the first floor. For this reason, it is recommended to visit these interesting exhibitions every season. The museum has hundreds of paintings and fine arts by Latvian and international artists. The museum's permanent exhibition, like other fine arts museums in Latvia, is free to visit on the last Sunday of every month.

For SEVEN euros, this place is quite overrated. I was also seriously disappointed the unsmiling ticket agent refused to accept my press business card bc it wasn’t a “press pass” (my company DOESN’T DO THEM). I even offered to verify the card with my ID but she refused. Just ridiculous. For an expensive €7 I should be longer in a museum than 1 hour (if even that). It has gorgeous interiors, but middling, dark paintings (lots of boring landscapes and animal stills). There’s a lovely porcelain collection from Asia and an exhibit on Indian art which has some decent material. The Egyptian collection is one tiny room with a mummy and shabtis as well as amulets. The Greek/Roman room is broken pottery shards and a stash of coinage. Overall, too much money for this place. Should be no more than a fiver.

The museum features a variety of changing exhibitions, alongside a substantial permanent collection spread across three floors. The architecture complements the exhibits, offering a visually appealing environment. The space is thoughtfully designed, enhancing the overall experience of both temporary and ongoing displays.

A beautiful building and 3 floors of expositions, at a co siderably very low family ticket price. I would say it's a must see here in Riga. When visiting, there was also a lady playing a piano in the courtyard, throughout the whole time we were there. Sounds of it was emanatint through the museum, further enhancing the vibe)

The Art Museum Riga Bourse is an absolute gem! I had the pleasure of visiting this magnificent museum, and to my great luck, they were hosting a stunning exhibition of Spanish paintings during my visit. The collection was beautifully curated, showcasing the rich heritage and expressive power of Spanish art. If you’re in Riga, I highly recommend a visit to this museum. It offers a perfect blend of local and international art, leaving you inspired and enriched. A true cultural treasure!

The museum is quite big, so ideally you would need at least 2 hours to visit it properly. The painting area of the museum is nice, but not spectacular. A few paintings are really good though. The Asia area of the museum is amazing. The pieces of art from china are really nice, plus there is a small sector dedicated to ancient Egypt and Greece. Overall, I would suggest a visit to this museum.

The art museum with permanent and changing exhibitions displays a mix of European, American and Asian art. We visited in March 2024 and saw the Tōkaidō Road (works of Hiroshige), Suzani (embroidery) and the Southeast Asian Art Collection. It’s a stunning building and worth a visit. Sadly we were not able to find the museum shop (even after asking staff members).

A nice museum located in a charmingly historical building. Many art collections of other European countries, such ad Germany, Austria and Holland. The Asian art collections were less impressive, especially those gifts from embassies of some Asian countries. The museum is clean and is less crowded during this time of year (in February). The entrance fee was reasonable l, 3 euros per adult, which I thought was very affordable. Two minus stars because we didn’t see much of local Latvian artworks. Also, we felt that we were being watched all the time during our visit. We were beginning to feel uncomfortable at the end of the tour. Its staff are perhaps just doing their jobs and hardworking. But it would have been nicer if they could be a bit more discreet in watching visitors. We were here to appreciate your artworks, not here to damage or vandalise them. We are definitely not criminals. Also, the lightings were a bit too strong, and they could damage paintings over the time.
