I visited here on my first day in Slovenia after barely any sleep, so I was in desperate need of a good lunch and this place really delivered.
It’s a little hidden away up on the veranda, tucked right at the end, but once inside it had a really nice relaxed atmosphere with almost barista café vibes. You order at the bar and get one of those devices that buzzes when your food is ready, although in my case the food arrived so quickly that there was hardly any waiting at all and they delivered the food to me.
I ordered a trout dish with potatoes and pesto sauce, along with a local herbal iced tea, and the whole meal came to €16, which felt like excellent value. The trout was cooked beautifully, with perfectly crispy skin and really lovely flavour. The dish was perhaps a little oily probably due to the pesto, but still very tasty overall.
The staff were all really friendly, and I sat in a communal area with one long shared table where some people were eating and others were working on laptops. It felt very relaxed and welcoming.
The only slightly confusing part was the tray return area, which seemed to be opposite the bar, but that may just have been me being very tired. Overall though, this felt like a cheap, cheerful, and genuinely good place to eat, and I’d happily go back.
