Beautiful sunset above Malacca strait. These pictures were taken from the Singapore Airlines flight, on its route to Singapore on 14th September 2023.
This is Malacca strait is an important strait for shipping route, because it is very strategic, the shortest route for ships from Gulf of Thailand, South China sea, from Pacific ocean (South East Asia, Far East Asia like China, Japan, South Korea, and up to West America) in their ways to Andaman sea on the way to Indian ocean (India, Middle East, up to East Africa and South Africa, and Suez canal to Europe).
Therefore, this strait is very very busy with containers, tankers, including also cruises and many kind of ships, including submarine for military from both sides.
Piracy in this strait has been reduced and vanished through the hard work from the Indonesia and Malaysia governments.
It also sepate Indonesia side (Sumatra island) and Malaysia and Thailand on the other side.
It strect to 800 killometres
on the air, it also become most busiest air traffics, as it become the air route for flights from and to Singapore, Malaysia, and Indonesia, and also some flights routes from and to Australia, New Zealand and Papua New Guinea.
I am not clear which country has the control on this strait, either the sea route and the air.
And I am not clear also where the name of Malacca come from. I believe got some thing to with the history of Indonesia and Malaysia. There is a city in Malaysia called Malacca too. I think it was named after Malacca sultan.
