Malayan Orchid Restaurant

Just had an amazing dinner here with my partner earlier this evening. The meals were terrific—familiar Malaysian flavours with high-quality seasonal ingredients cooked to perfection. Nothing was too spicy or unbalanced. Personal highlight: the Assam Fish, absolutely delightful! The experience was made even better by the peaceful and warm ambience. They pay great attention to detail, like having ice cubes in our water pitcher. And the staff? Absolutely lovely and friendly, with a high level of care, especially Tammy, who made the whole experience enjoyable. We couldn't be happier. If you choose to come here, you will be very satisfied and delighted!

Good food, great ambiance generally all around good vibes. Although the service was very slow when I dined in the other day. Drinks and entree were received in 15 minutes. But my main dish was received almost an hour later. I received a complimentary drink on the house. Which was nice. But when I mentioned the wait time, I was corrected by the manager eventhough I had timestamps, since I was taking pictures all throughout the night. The food was delicious and authentically Malaysian. However, the experience was tarnished by the slow service.

An ambient and authentic experience in the heart of Bendigo. Tammy and her team were so accomodating of my friends and I out for dinner. The food was 10/10 , highly recommended the Szechuan Aubergine and the Korean Mac and Cheese. Cannot wait to go back!

I have eaten here a few times now and it never disappoints! The revamped interior makes for a cozy atmosphere. The new menu has a wider range of delicious dishes and should keep every punter happy. We phoned ahead with our booking to alert the kitchen of dietary requirements and they were amazing at accommodating our needs. The service was excellent - attentive but not intrusive - and the hostess checked in to make sure everything was going well. Our meals were fantastic! We made a range of selections and shared amongst our group of four using the lazy Susan on the round table we snagged with our booking. The variety of meals, the quality of produce, the simple, elegant presentation was all excellent. Thanks for another beautiful night out!

Edit: Most recent review My partner and I came here for the chefs menu again and got served nothing but left overs. It was just black pepper and chili on different vegetables over and over again. They served real food/meats at the end, they asked us first if we want the curry chicken at the end. We said we're full but can get it for takeaway. They never served the curry chicken. So we left thst night extremely disappointed, eating the same black peper covered food is not worth $75 each. We're no longer returning to Malayan Orchid for date nights. --- Review 2 yrs ago: Just spent our 3rd anniversary date here. We ordered the banquet for $68 per person and a bottle of wine. It was totally worth it! We absolutely loved every single meal that came out. Andrew the chef did an amazing job! My favorite was the crab on top of curry sauce. My partner loved the dumplings. The ramen and the meat in it was so perfectly cooked. Loved the variety in the dessert. All the staff were super nice and accommodating. Tammy provided excellent customer service. Highly recommend and will definitely have dinner here again! Cheers

I wasn't expecting such high quality food and service based on the price point. The banquet was of incredible value. Servers were fantastic, and respected and remembered allergies so well. Also, great non-alcoholic options.

We enjoyed the $55 buffet, and the restaurant went above and beyond to accommodate our gluten-free guest. We walked in hungry and left completely satisfied, with top-notch food and service all around. Thank you

Enjoyed a delicious dinner here on recommendation of friends. Loved the twist on some of the dishes - while it may not be authentic Malaysian it’s the Aussie version of and it was yum and filling. But… apart from the delicious food was the truly excellent service from the wait staff. There was a young man in particular who was attentive, friendly, professional and knowledgeable. The best qualities in wait staff for me and I would give him a 10/5. There are some awesome places to eat in Bendigo - this is one I’d highly recommend.

I went here with my partner, we had of the banquet feeds, 100% stunning and delicious. The food was immaculate and well presented, the staff were beyond nice and professional! I would highly recommend this place!
