I recently booked this hotel through Agoda and had a very disappointing experience. The photos online look fantastic, but the reality was completely different and far below an acceptable standard.
When we arrived, the room and facilities were in extremely poor condition. The furniture was falling apart — the bed was literally held together with makeshift brackets, and the table was broken and delaminating. There was thick dust everywhere: on the bed head, floor, lights, and electrical outlets. The bathroom fan was covered in heavy dust, and several electrical outlets were loose and coming off the wall, which felt unsafe. The swimming pool water looked stagnant and had a layer of scum on the surface. Overall, the property was very run down and clearly not maintained. Also, the smoking area in the garden is horrendous, its a place where all the smokers sit and the fumes come into the room, so you can sit in the room without getting smoked out.
I’m honestly perplexed by some of the positive reviews saying this place is lovely. Based on what we experienced, the hotel is extremely run down, and for the price we paid (around $50 NZD), we’ve stayed in far nicer places across Laos and Southeast Asia.
The staff at the front desk were not helpful at all. I raised the issues shortly after checking in and showed them photos, but they didn’t seem interested and simply told me to contact the manager.
To be fair to the manager, when I reached out to her on WhatsApp, she was very understanding and professional. She acknowledged the issues and said she would speak with Agoda to arrange a full refund for us, which I appreciate.
I hope management takes this feedback seriously and improves the property, because the current condition does not match the photos or description online.
