"Maligne Canyon Icewalk Slide into your warmest winter boots, strap on a pair of ice cleats, and bundle on an extra layer before descending into the Maligne Canyon for a unique Jasper experience. Curving rock walls create the perfect labyrinth to explore the depths of this frozen winter wonderland. Dazzling towers of blue-green ice stretch 50 meters overhead, fossils dot the canyon floor, and caverns drop into the abyss. The three major highlights all dazzle in their own way. The Grotto is a fast-flowing waterfall hidden beneath a giant curtain of ice. Angel Falls is a training ground for local ice climbers, and the Queen of the Maligne is a giant, freestanding ice tower. It’s ever-changing, but it’s often good to slip behind the entire column for a truly unique view. Designated as a Canadian Signature Experience by the Canadian Tourism Commission, the entire adventure is led by qualified guides who are familiar with the local geography—the canyon is part of the largest Karst System in North America—wildlife, and, perhaps most importantly, ice conditions. It’s also Jasper’s most popular winter tour because it’s fascinating for every member of the family. The Maligne Canyon Ice Walk season typically lasts from December to March, weather dependent. The tours last three hours, including two hours outside. All tours offer hotel pickup, too, so visiting Maligne Canyon is as easy as booking online."

We were very lucky, we got Sam, Canadian Sam, there are two. He was brilliant, his knowledge for a young man is phenomenal. A superb tour. The ladies on the boat trip were amazing too. Bree was talking on our trip and she certainly knew her stuff. A really enjoyable informative trip.

Amazing, deep knowledge, keep you out until you find the wildlife Sam, AKA Canadian Sam, gave us a great wildlife tour, not only did we see Elk up close and personal, we got to see Moose, Goats, Osprey etc. It was a fantastic tour, with great information about the wildlife, where to see them and how to be safe when viewing them (Elk love to trample tourists... 30 meters always). I highly recommend this tour and Sam added his own great commentary and gave us an incredible start to our Jasper Journey. We'll worth the money to see this tour ASAP, as it will make your stay in Jasper that much more enjoyable.

My family joined the Wildlife and Waterfalls tour in mid August 25. I almost cancelled because the tour wasn’t able to take us into Maligne Canyon due to unstable ground after the wildfires. I am so pleased I didn’t cancel. It was one of our top activities in the three weeks we spent on our trip. We are a family of five including three teenagers. From the moment we joined the bus, which was prompt and comfortable, we were all hooked on every word our guide, Kendra, said. She was full of amazing knowledge which she imparted over the entire day from wildlife to wildfires it was all fascinating. Thank you Kendra for being such an inspirational guide. Would whole hearted recommend.

My wife and I had a lovely guided tour to Lake Maligne and cruise to Spirit Island - our guide Catherine was great - super friendly, knowledgeable and very passionate about the animals and their habitat. Captured one of my best photos at Spirit Island, and we got very lucky to see moose right at the side of the road and a harem of elks with the male standing guard. We were delighted to see these magnificent animals so close up and to have had such a wonderful day out - would very highly recommend this package to anyone visiting Jasper and wishing to visit Lake Maligne as it's a great way to combine both a guided tour and lovely boat journey out to Spirit Island. We had a lovely trip with our captain Emily and Liam who was the crew and provided great insights into the surrounding area and history. All in all a very worthwhile experience!

The wildlife viewing tour was a highlight of our trip. We are experienced wildlife viewers but when you don’t know the area, there’s no substitute for an experienced local guide. Our driver/guide was top notch and very personable. The downsides are 1) riding in a van that the windows don’t open on, 2) very cramped seating, 3) hot and cramped sitting on back row, with something sticking up on the floor where only your feet should go. Having said that, our guide made stops where he could so we could take photos outside the van. And I would do it again, but for the price there should be much better transportation. Also, we showed up early at the Totem pole and were told by the arriving van that we had to walk to another van because that one was full. When we booked, there were lots of seats available. However, we were the last to be seated on the 2nd van, and back of the van. Seems like there should be a better system.

Julianna our boat guide and Carson our boat captain on lake maligne boat tour were great! Very informative and answered all our questions. They educated us on what we were seeing and had great stories regarding history in the area. Julianna took the time to talk to all of us personally. Josh our tour bus driver was excellent and a knew SO much about everything. He took the time to look for wildlife for us and educate us on with wildlife , the July 2024 fire, the history of the lakes and Jasper overall. Great tour and guides !

Sam was extremely knowledgeable and we had a great day with him and our group on the tour. We were lucky enough to see a Mama Bear and 2 of her cubs, a huge male Elk with an enormous rack, a marmot, osprey, pica and big horn sheep while we drove around Jasper. Highly recommend this tour

We hit the trifecta! Our guide Jake was amazing. Our experience wasn't normal because we saw elk, bald eagle, deer, mountain goats, a beaver, 3 grizzly bears (15 yards from the bus) a black bear and a moose! The moose was so close, crossing a river 100 yards from us then coming closer before heading off. Jake had great educated guesses where the animals would possibly be and he was very informativeand a lot of fun. Great customer service from the office also. Don't hesitate to book through Maligne adventures!
