What a truly amazing place, so beautiful and tranquil with excellent staff who are very friendly and attentive. The food was so delicious, we had ordered dinner during their Christmas/new year special and it was so tasty and plentiful. Breakfast was really good too with coffee and tea included. The views are wonderful, the rooms are private and so nice to be up in amongst the trees overlooking the sea or close to a ledge overlooking the city - depending on the room you ask for. They also have a really nice infinity pool, it’s such a relaxing place, we had the best stay here. Would definitely recommend a night or two if you visit Penang. The road to get up to this isolated location is very winding/zigzag so make sure you don’t have too large or too low a car.

We stayed one night here. Warm welcomed staffs always put themselves in our shoes in terms of service. Delicious dinner and breakfast. Location is far away from the city, but it is exactly what we are looking for. We have had a great time there.

We had the most amazing stay at Malihom. The location is so beautiful it's on the top of a hill, surrounded by nature, perfect for a chill and peaceful stay. Gorgeous pool to relax, loads of hammocks with incredible views and plenty of places to have for a walk. The food was absolutely incredible, some of the best food we had on our trip to Malaysia. Our room was beautiful and so comfortable. The staff are amazing, they go above and beyond. I couldn't recommend Malihom higher for a relaxing stay.

Built in 2007 but it feels like it was built in 1967. All the staff are very helpful and friendly which makes the stay pleasant. |Unless you have a big family or big group of friends there is nothing much to do. There is a very nice swimming pool but one cannot be in the water all day. |It is a very interesting drive up and down. Unfortunately once you drive up there you would not want to come back down until check out day. Basically you will have to have your dinner there and for the price of RM116 per head (RM232 a couple) I don’t believe you are getting value for your money. |The room has the very basics, and doesn't even have sufficient space to put your things. There is no television, no cupboards at all and the attached toilet, you cannot even swing a cat, as the saying goes. The sink is placed so low it is not suitable for adults. The mosquito netting over the bed is a hindrance as it makes getting on and off the bed difficult. |Safety is not one of their strong points as there are not many railings around and if you are not careful you can quite easily fall off the sides. The pathways are all uneven and you really have to watch your steps. |This is also not a friendly place for the elderly or someone with issues walking as there are steps everywhere. If you have children, then they must be totally supervised. |However this is only my opinion, I am sure there are people with different opinions.

This resort sits atop a hill. Access to the resort is only by car. Recommend getting a skilled driver to drive up the narrow and steep road that has a number hair pin bends. |If you don’t drive, hire a regular taxi or contact the resort for other options. || I made a list of the pros and cons of the resort and how you can make the best of your stay.||Pros|- Quiet, peaceful environment with lots of greenery and good breeze |- View of Penang Hill and the South China Sea from afar |- Rooms are on wooden stilted huts with attached toilet . |- Wifi signals are very strong in the room and the compound |- Every room has a view of either the rising or setting sun |- Manager (Sheau Fung) was very helpful . She created a group chat for guests and staff to ensure requests are attended to promptly. Our experience had been good ( responses were in seconds).|- There are no staff on the premises from 9pm to 7am but there is no real need for them unless you are locked out of your room |- Bottled water are provided in rooms, and empty bottles are topped up when returned |- Amenities : electric kettle, coffee/ tea sachets, safe |- There is a common room with TV and baked/ card games. |- Infinity swimming pool |- Dinner / breakfast are simple and the menu is pre determined by chef |- My travelling group was attended to by a very cheerful staff Toffazel ||Cons |- This is not a resort for people with mobility issues as you will need to walk on stoned paths and steps |- The bathroom with WC is located one level down from the room. |- While the area is lit at night but not |- Rooms are a bit dim |- Bed in the Queen size room fills up almost the whole room with limited space to walk.|- En-suite toilet is tiny (~0.8m in length ! ). There is hardly space to move once inside. |- There are no hand towels ( only bath towels) , no hand soup ( only shower gel and shampoo) provided |- Mosquitoes are visibly flying around from ~4pm till evening. |- If you are looking for massage - sorry no such services||Recommendations |- Make sure you have a skilled driver driving you to the resort . There aren’t signages along the narrow path to the resort . |- Bring your own toiletries |- Bring mosquito repellents if you attract mosquitoes |- Use a torchlight when you are out in the evening ( for dinner ) . |- Recommend to take the dinner at the resort, otherwise you will need to get down the narrow and steep road and back |- Ask for King room which has more space to move around and comes with a king sized bed. Attached toilet is still tiny though! |- For families, you can ask for a family into which has King sized bed and 2 smaller mattresses.

Run-down and dirty rooms. Shower looked like it hadn't been cleaned in months! Black hair (from previous guests) in shower drain. Old worn out furniture and torn chair pad. Power outage at night meant that the AC and fan stopped working. Very hot and stuffy trying to sleep. AC struggled during the day. Very weak, old unit which started making high pitched noises after being on for a few hours. This place needs some serious upgrades considering the prices they are charging per night. They also charge RM90+tax+service charge, per person, for dinner which you're basically forced to accept as there is no other food around unless you have a car to drive down to the bottom of the mountain. The food was OK but we've had equally good food from local cafes for one fifth of the price!

Top-notch service from reservation till departure. Special nod to Sheau Fung, Tofazzel & Ashok. Wonderfully secluded and isolated, which provided the calm and solitude I needed. Food was home cooked and very delicious - different menu daily. Try their homemade cakes which were amazing. Pricey though, and there are no other options nearby. One suggestion would be to have the kitchen open for selected items such as small bites, snacks and drinks, so we can purchase them in-between meals. Infrastructure is in need of an upgrade though, as the mostly wooden architecture is fraying, and some parts may cause safety concerns. Mosquitos are expected but it was unfortunately too many such that it distracted from the serenity. Weather is lovely outside but you'd be bitten within minutes. One suggestion is to plant more greens that attract mosquito predators like dragonflies (water lilies, cattails). The one small hiking trail is similarly full of mozzies, and besides that, it isn't very conducive for wandering as it isn't well-marked and seems more for workers to get about. A suggestion is to have a nice path from hilltop to foothills and that would really entice nature-lovers. All in all, it was a wonderful stay - thank you, Malihom.
