Fantastic company strategy day held at Malmaison. What an incredibly stunning building. I started my stay with drinks on the terrace followed by a meal in the brasserie - the steak was incredible. The team looked after us well throughout our meeting followed by team drinks. I enjoyed a very tasty breakfast both mornings which set me up for the day just right. I was wowed by the incredible service given by all of the team and how clean the hotel was. I’ll be booking again really soon.

I'm surprised at some of the reviews on here. I stayed for a couple of nights and thought it was great. The Receptionist, Celeste, was able to let me check in early which was really appreciated as I was so tired from an early flight. The room was clean and comfortable. I didn't have breakfast but there are plenty of cafes in town to go to. Lovely location right near the tram stop. I would stay again.

Nice place to stay. The tram is a 5 minute walk away, and lots of places to eat nearby. The breakfast buffet was extensive and the staff attentive. I stayed 3 nights and was given the option of trading daily room service for a voucher for the bar. A wonderful idea since a solo traveler generally does not need a lot of room service.

This was my third stay at this hotel and I wasn't disappointed. The staff are friendly, welcoming and attentive. The rooms are well equipped and very clean.|The hotel is well situated in a quiet spot and yet a quick tram ride from the centre of Edinburgh.|The breakfasts are cooked to order and are good quality.|The rooms don't have air-conditioning but the windows can be left open without noise disturbance and a fan is provided.

**5-Star Review – Amazing Family Dining Experience!** My wife and I recently visited this fantastic restaurant with our three children (all under 10), including our 11-month-old baby, and we had an absolutely wonderful time! The food was delicious—our kids loved the burgers, garlic bread, and tomato soup, while my wife raved about her iron flat steak. My hake fish with orange sauce was cooked to perfection—so flavorful and fresh! What really made our visit special was the incredible staff. They were so attentive and kind, especially with our little one, making the whole experience stress-free and enjoyable. The surroundings were beautiful, adding to the relaxed and welcoming atmosphere. We couldn’t have asked for a better family meal out—great food, fantastic service, and a lovely setting. We’ll definitely be back! **Highly recommend!** ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Just back from a three night stay in Malmaison. My wife and I were very impressed by the hotel. Our room was a double, but was well decorated and well appointed. It was clean and the bed was comfortable. The room was very good value for money. All of the staff we talked with were pleasant and helpful.||The offer of drinks vouchers in exchange for forgoing housekeeping was a novel and very welcome offer (we exchanged these vouchers for a couple of very enjoyable cocktails in the bar).||There was ample onsite parking, which was welcome. And though the hotel is in Leith, there is a tram stop just a stone’s throw away.||We only had a couple of very minor gripes: a couple of chips in the bedside units detracted from the room, and the lift to the third seemed about to expire every time we used it.||We each throughly enjoyed our stay in Malmaison, and intend to be back (making this our base for future visits to Edinburgh).

The Malmaison Edinburgh hotel is situated in a wonderful part of the city as it is close to a handful of restaurants (I recommend “Toast” for breakfast and “Fishers” for dinner) nearby, is a three minute walk from a tram station (Port of Leith) and provides guests with parking behind the building. Employees were always generous and helpful. The rooms are well taken care of and a fan is provided despite not having air conditioning. The bathroom floor is prone to water getting on the floor as the glass wall does not do a perfect job of preventing this, but this was compensated by utilizing a towel on the floor as a mat. The espresso provided in the room is tasteful and easy to use. The window views were lovely and despite being next to the port zero ship noises or disturbances were heard. The seagulls provide a comforting background noise over the city. I will be looking to stay here again for my next visit.

Stayed here whilst visiting Edinburgh. It’s very quiet, in a nice location, a stones throw from Fingal, Britannia and nice bars and cafes. Close to the tram so 5 mins and you’re back in the centre of Edinburgh. The rooms are large and comfy and the staff are very helpful. Overall would we stay again. Yes.

Yelp
The hotel, bar, restaurant, staff and location was amazing. Way better to stay in Leith to be away from the very touristic Edinburgh. Leith is close enough away to where you can take a 15 min Uber to go to Edinburgh if you want, however Leith has great tours and local restaurants within walking distance. I would rate this hotel 4.5 stars if they had their descriptions correct for the bed types. They call a full size bed a king. They do offer rooms with king beds which they call "super large bed", however they are only in the presidential suite and one other regular suite. Make sure you confirm this or you will get a full sized bed.

Yelp
Here with the Insights tour. No AC, but they have "a fan" in the wardrobe. room of choice not honored. No creature comforts offered, eg: bottled water, snacks, every other hotel that we stayed at in Edinburgh and Dundee, had AC and a creature comfort from water, to gin cocktails, to chocolates, even marmalade. Staff less than helpful. The location was well outside of Edinburgh, about 2 miles. Location not ideal!

Yelp
This is one of those places where the review is all dependent on what you end up getting for a room. We had a room on the 3rd floor which we thought would give nice views but basically our window looked out to either an alley or the utilities (Fans/vents/etc), we couldn't really tell. The room was small and dark, the lights didn't really help as they seemed more like spotlights than "room" lights. We couldn't figure out what was up with the bath fan, it seemed to turn on when you turned on the light but would keep going when you turned the light off and then randomly shut off. The place looks fantastic from the outside and maybe the restaurant is nice but we didn't try that.

Yelp
Stayed here recently whilst visiting Leith to go to Tom Kitchin's for lunch. We had a superior room and dinner package, which worked out cheaper than just booking a standard room - pays to check out the offers on the malmaison website before booking! Room was huge, spacious and well-equipped. The bed I thought was going to be too firm, initially, but turned out to afford us a great night's sleep. Great pillows! The food in the restaurant for dinner was a bit average - perhaps unfair given we'd had a Michelin-starred lunch! But the steak was a bit chewy. The restaurant was also totally dead on a Friday night, which is a bad sign. The service both in the restaurant and at reception though was spot-on. Overall, the place has a bit of a faded charm about it - in need of a spruce up to make it as exceptional as its Glasgow cousin, where the food and the decor are both a bit more up to date.

Yelp
A charming boutique style hotel in the new area of Leith's shore, in Edinburgh. We booked through Expedia, in advance, and were pleasantly surprised. A perfect mixture of modern and classical Scotland charm, the hotel motto is "dare to be different". Rooms and toilets are nicely decorated in black an white, and the hotel staff and administration looked to every detail to make their statement of good service and trendy ambient. Rooms are very well decorated. Beds and pillows are extremely comfortable and service very efficient. Even the common hotel fixture as tea and coffee, toiletries and laundry bags will have a new read here. The coffee is "one cup of fresh ground", the tea is Taylors. I will certainly look to stay with Malmaison again. They have a restaurant and a brasserie but there is also great choices of top restaurants and cafes nearby. Edinburgh classic tourist attraction ad Prince Street and the Royal Mile are just 10 minutes away by a nice must try double deck bus ride (#16 or 22). And if you prefer to walk, there is a mall nearby and the Her Majesty Royal Yatch to visit.

Yelp
This was a lovely hotel from which to explore Edinburgh. It's on the water, and away from the main streets (but only a 10-15 uber ride away from many of the tour meeting places, castles, etc. it's a smaller boutique like hotel with larger than usual rooms for a hotel in Scotland. The restaurant and bar were amazing, and it was great to have so many other eatery options including a large mall within walking distance. I preferred getting away from the hustle and bustle at the end of the day by getting away from the center of the city. The hotel staff was incredibly nice as well, the room service was great, I rarely give 5 stars to hotels because I stay in so many of them but this was really perfect!

Yelp
Everyone has raved and raved about the Malmaison Brunch, and I was a wee bit disappointed even though it WAS indeed the biggest brunch in town. Perhaps everyone had talked it up so much that my expectations were too high. The chef's table is indeed stunning with unlimited amounts of waffles, pancakes, omelets, charcuterie, various salads, and soup. My only suggestion for the chef's table would be some pastries - I really wanted a wee tasty croissant! Otherwise the chef's table is indeed amazing, and I really loved the waffles with fresh berries and maple syrup. If there were a brunch option just to pick selections from the Chef's Table, I'd be happy with just that. For my main I had the Sunday roast but the beef was a bit underwhelming and not very flavorful, and the Yorkie just wasn't there. It wasn't as fresh, crispy, light or flavourful as it should have been. The dessert choices were good and I went for the creme brûlée. It was a bit eggy and heavier than I like them, but as I hadn't had one in a while it was still a nice treat. The ambiance and feel of Malmaison is generally great - it's a lovely place with many windows looking out towards the canal. Since we came near the end of our voucher time period, all tables were booked about a month in advance and the place was packed. It was frustrating to have long queues at the chef's table. For what we paid (£30 for two) it was an excellent brunch that was a nice treat (four star, but five star if they improved their Sunday roast main). If paying full price, I would have expected a bit more (hence the three stars).

Yelp
A charming, awesome hotel! Its a bit far from the centre of town, but the area is quaint, quiet, and perfect for foodies as theres loads of good restaurants nearby. Just be aware that a cab from the airport will set you back quite a bit (going from one end of Edinburgh to the other). But there's a bus that goes to Princes Street almost right from the doorstep. My room was clean, spacious, quiet. The bed was luxurious, the bathroom decent. Its clearly not extremely modern or the most luxurious rooms, but they're comfortable and welcoming after a long day out. Would definitely happily stay again! Yelp
With our groupon voucher in hand my auntie and I headed down for a burger and beer. I have previously only been to the malmasion twice I knew the menu was pricey and a bit "showy". We were the first to sit in the restaurant, and the place is stunning. Fantastic art work on the walls, beautiful place settings and mood lighting. The service was fantastic and the waitress who served us was warm, friendly and very approachable. We didn't have to wait long to be served either. Our burger and beer was good, wholesome and filling- but the rest of the menu is much better. Well worth a wee treat if you are down at the shore!

Yelp
Malmaison (bad house) is about right, but MerdeMaison is much more fitting. I was really looking forward to spending NYE in Edinburgh and thought this hotel would round out a fun holiday. How wrong I was. At first glance, the place looks impressive with quirky, fun decor. But it's all about the details, isn't it? While the room was well furnished and large, the phone didn't work at all through the entire stay (and nobody came to fix it after maintenance made an appearance on day 1). So every time we needed anything, we had to go down to the front desk (see detail on staff attitude later in this review). In addition, the beds were like wooden planks. And the breakfast was AWFUL. Food two of the days was only partially cooked and inedible. I'd upgraded our initial rate to include a full breakfast as part of a NYE package -- the upgrade cost about $100 US for two guests for three days. But when we got to the cafe we were told our package only included the continental choice and we'd have to pay extra for additional items. Seriously ... that is expensive bread and pastry (which I don't even eat). So the desk manager (I assume that was his title), after a discussion, told me he was only upgrading our breakfast package to include meat to keep me happy (delivered in a very snide tone and smirk -- complete with eye roll). Which brings us to the hotel staff. Most importantly to me, about 50 percent of staff was extremely rude -- beyond the norm of European travel. I can tolerate a little bit of sassy attitude, but this was shockingly insulting. Lastly, I'd paid in full two months in advance of the stay only to be presented a bill for 10 percent more at checkout. The girl at the desk could not explain it, only point to line items and shrug. I'm still not sure why I was charged the additional fee (probably a malicious mark-up for the inedible breakfast) ... I'll probably never know. I should have followed my instincts initially and booked the Balmoral. Much more spendy, but worth every single penny. I will NEVER again stay at a MerdeMaison property. But as I don't think the Malmaison brand can possibly last with this type of service, hopefully nobody will have to.

Yelp
I've been to the Malmaison Sunday brunch a couple of times and it has been really good, so when an Itison voucher came up for this brunch I snapped it up and was looking forward to lots of good food. The offer had been so popular that when I called to reserve a table, everything was fully booked and the voucher was running out, but they offered me a table at a next available slot. Well, the brunch has shrunk. There were no waffles or pancakes being offered anymore (previously these were freshly prepared for you on request behind the buffet table which was groaning with all sorts of goodies) The whole brunch section had been moved to a side table and albeit it had some nice things, it just wasn't the same. All in all it was a mixed bag. Some things were really good, for example the white crusty bread was amazing. However the butter was rock hard and impossible to spread on the bread. For my main course I chose the Sunday roast. The beef was amazing, so so tender but there was a lot of fatty bits. Yorkshire pudding was okish. Potatoes and carrots were a bit undercooked. Dessert was the highlight - I went for the creme brulee and it was lovely and was nice to finish off on a high note. Staff here are friendly. Not sure I would return again though.

Yelp
When we come to Edinburgh now this is our hotel of choice. Fantastic modern clean rooms (in the same style as the "W" hotels). Excellent food. The cooked breakfast is stunning. Great location for restaurants and bars and less than five minutes away from downtown Princess Street. The only downside being they don't do valet parking so when its pissing down with rain (which funnily enough happens quite alot in Edinburgh) expect to get pretty wet since the parking can get tricky when there are events on.

Yelp
Pouring us both a few fingers of Laphroaig, looking startlingly deep into my eyes, he said "Then I will suck life from those sweetest lips, though I die in doing so" (a quote from the book I am reading which he'd already read -- a reference to Siegfried and Brünnhilde in Richard Wagner's Der Ring des Nibelungen)... We spent the next 96 hours sequestered and quarantined in ecstatic undulation. The hotel is simply stunning, extremely elegant. It smacks of sophistication, a sort of modern classic -- with the clock tower it vaguely resembles a castle. And it's by a lovely river. The bed was incredibly comfortable -- we spent a lot of time in it. The shower was not only gorgeous in its minimalism, but, thankfully, had very powerful water pressure. Fortunately for us there was a CD player, we listened loudly (day and night, repeatedly) to the complete symphonies and song cycles of Gustav Mahler -- the amazing Chailly/Concertgebouw recordings on Decca... The walls and doors and floors were all thick enough so that we never received any complaints about the music (or other noises, for that matter). There was a gym, a very nice one. As if I weren't getting enough exhausting exercise elsewhere (including miles upon miles and hours upon hours of walking), to clear my head I lifted some free-weights a couple of times. There is a bar with an awesome wine collection and a beautiful terrace -- I can't imagine a more ideal spot for reading Theodor Adorno's "In Search of Wagner." There is a very dapper dining room where I had the pleasure of enjoying a terrific dinner featuring many incredibly fresh local ingredients... It wasn't cheap (though I didn't pay) but you get what you're paying for -- high quality. Considering the wrought-iron decor, moody lighting, chic and comfortable leather chairs and banquettes, I'd consider this a perfect destination for a leisurely romantic meal. Every employee I encountered was exceptionally friendly and helpful. Terrific experience in every way the entire time... Most highly recommended!

Yelp
I'm fresh from my stay here, and whilst it's really only been a one-night stop off, it's certainly not been an unpleasant one. The basics: a large comfortable bed (albeit a touch hard for my tastes), a decent room, friendly staff and a delightful bathroom. I didn't investigate the air con scenario, though it would be worth checking before you go to bed, as my room was rather warm and got a touch stuffy rather quickly. The area is beautiful, right by the waterfront, and there seems to be a fair few cool pubs near by. (Shame I didn't get to try them - next time!) It has to be said, the bar staff were excellent during my stay and did a grand job. I also had the pleasure of trying their chips, which were divine, though sadly the burger was less so. More medium, than medium rare, fell to bits and was a little bland. However, everyone else's bagels and such looked a treat! Essentially, you will have a comfortable stay, and won't want for much whilst you're here. Grand.

Yelp
The Malmasion is a gorgeous boutique hotel in Edinburgh, located on the banks of the Forth in Leith. I visited the brasserie for brunch recently and it was amazing. It started with the soup of the day, self service from the chefs table, a lovely creamy spicy parsnip soup. Then we were invited to select something from the chefs table. There were loads of options such as omelettes, waffles, cold meats, salads, bread, pancakes, pates and terrines. From past experience I suggest booking your table earlier in the day, as the second time I visited for Brunch the options were limited due to it being busy early on. Also, pace yourself! There is so much lovely food on offer, don't over do it on the first two courses, because you won't have room for the rest! Next was the mains, a selection of six options from the menu, I can recommend the roasts and salmon. Finally if you have any room, you can order a dessert, don't worry there are lighter options such as sorbet and fresh fruit salad. All that for a tasty £19.95, marvellous and you won't need to eat for the rest of the day. The Sunday brunch is very popular and it can be very busy. Sometimes it feels a little too busy and the neighbouring tables are a little too close for comfort. When personal boundaries come into it, I feel that they have tried to pack the customers in far too much. Alas, the brasserie does serve great-tasting cuisine, prepared with incredible local ingredients, so enjoy! If the weather suits, you can even enjoy some alfresco dining or drinking on the terrace. Also if you are lucky enough to be staying and the boutique hotel there is a hotel gym, Gymtonic to work off that heavy brunch!

Yelp
We stayed here for three nights and they were the most relaxed and refreshing break we have ever had! The staff were delightful and very friendly. We struck up a friendship with hotel bar manager who went above and beyond to serve us and make us feel welcome. The rooms were spacious and luxurious with the most beautiful view of the 'Water of Leith'. We enjoyed an amazing continental breakfast every morning that set us up for the day.

Yelp
We spend many an afternoon on their terrace in the summer, had some dinners here and now several Sunday Brunches. They have been steadily improving on offerings and service. Their very latest is the Sunday Brunch - which is possibly the biggest one on offer in Scotland. (allegedly). Making a reservation is required as they are usually fully booked for 3-4 Sundays ahead. They have enough people serving and it is a gluttonous affair. Basically you start with the entree - which is unlimited (ish) and has salmon parfait, ham hock, waffles, omelets, terrines, soup, eggs, Waldorf salad, croissants, baguette, cheeses, fresh fruit and much much more. The buffet chef will cook what you require. When that is finished you'll have a main course of either salmon, burgers, steak, Sunday Roast or classic brunch like eggs Benedict. Desserts are plentiful and change every so often, but there will be a sundae, ice cream and crumbles on offer. They also offer a selection of 6 different Bloody Marys - take your pick! The service is pleasant and efficient. Good job.

Yelp
I had a spectacular stay here. The Brasserie is first rate using local and sustainable beef and local fish. The breakfast buffet is just outstanding with fresh cut fruits, homemade jams and, for an extra 2 pounds, you may add some hot options to your morning. The amenities are what one would usually expect, but the decor is just delightful. Rooms were well appointed and comfortable.

Yelp
So for a quiet Thursday evening the lady and I decided we wanted to go out for dinner. I ahve been wanting to come here for quite some time so was excited to visit. The venue itself is superb - beautiful place - great staff and a very welcoming environment. Service overall was great if perhaps the attention to details lacked a little. For the food I ordered the pork belly with black pudding, apple sauce and curly kale. The pork belly was fairly tasty - for me it hadnt been cooked at high enough temperature - the fat had not remotely gone crispy/crunchy and was just really pure fat.....sad face!! The meat was ok - it hadnt been cooked in anything so had gone a little dry. The black pudding was just smears of what i take was black pudding - didnt satisfy my desire at all! Apple sauce ok but lacked that sugar sweetness. Desert I had a reasonable attempt at an apple crumble, was for me again slightly undercooked. All in all ok but for the money spent I wont be back!

Yelp
This place is heaven on earth. Seriously, they should turn it into a Church on Sundays, it's simply bliss. It is so modern and chic. All the rooms are amazing, they are beautifully furnished and so very, very cool. The food is delicious too, the breakfast in particular is to die for. I asked the waiter how they made their scrambled eggs, because they were unlike any i've ever had before! I wish I hadn't asked - his answer of 'double cream' and 'full fat butter' actually made my bum cheeks sag. whenever I have friends coming to the city, I recommend they stay here. Party because it's amazing, but mainly because it means I can come and have breakfast with them. It is a bit out of the way, but the area is lovely and there are great transport links. Plus it's beside some really lovely restaurants, so who needs to be in the city centre!

Yelp
We enjoyed our stay at this modern hotel in Leith. Our room was spacious and comfortable - quite stylish beyond the typical chain hotel. We ate both breakfast and dinner there, thoroughly enjoying both. The salmon Benedict was particularly tasty. The service was very good with a friendly and helpful staff. While the neighborhood has some nice restaurants and pubs, the hotel is 10-15 minutes taxi ride from the Castle and Royal Mile.

Yelp
On a recent jaunt to Edinburgh I stayed at the Malmaison by Leith docks. First off, it's about 15 years since I've been round Leith, what a change. Back in the day it was a bit of a no-go area but it's now been 'regenerated'- lots of nice bars and restaurants and half a million quid apartments etc. A couple of things made my stay worth remarking upon. All Malmaison hotels offer free, gratis broadband in the rooms. So what? I hear you say. Well try getting free web access in any other hotel chain. Unlikely. In the bathroom theres a wee sign beside all the toiletries - posh body wash, moisturising pads, breath freshner, the lot - saying 'please take these away with you'. Everyone nabs the bits from the bathroom in hotels anyway, but a nice touch to say 'go ahead'. Power showers too. Theres nothing worse than the dribbly weak showers you often encounter in hotels. I ordered dinner in my room - posh burger and chips - the chips come in a tall cup thing wrapped in Malmaison greaseproof paper. A little design touch that tickled me. I also loved the milk jugs at breakfast, it's a tall vase shaped white jug with 'cow' spots printed on it. I could have stayed at the Holiday Inn across the road and it would have been perfectly acceptable, but i would not have mentioned it to anyone after. It's the micro-touches that make an experience worth talking about.

Yelp
The Mal is a sumptiously furnished and attractive dining destination by the Shore in Leith. Part of the Malmaison Hotel, the brasserie menu features a range of interesting and delicious dishes most of which feature local produce. A well appointed bar will supply just about anything you desire, from a range of champagnes to your favourite brand of cigar from the humidor. The brasserie lunch menu, although somewhat abbreviated, still manages to offer a good range of tasty sandwiches and the like. The burgers are very good.

Yelp
Ubercool, brooding bold classy bothy (sic) I spent one night here and the place whisked me back to the days when I travelled little enough to actually get passionate about a location (before I started work). This hotel is a fine example of why, to an Englishman, Scotland feels like an exotic foreign country. It's the atmosphere, that elusive something that makes you think 'this is special'. The fact that a lot of the staff were from Poland or the Czech Republic, Italy or Spain, in my view added to the Scottishness of the place. Don't get me wrong, this is not the traditional whisky, haggis and kilts Scotland we're talking. This is vibrant, liberal, innovative, challenging, attractive, up for it Scotland; Scotland showing its independent spirit by challenging the 'chic corporate complacent consistency' of a lot of major hotel chains. It works, go there and have an experience.

Yelp
Was taken here for a business lunch last week. It was very quiet, only a couple of tables in there. They have an offer on at the moment - £10 for a main course, glass of wine and coffee or tea. I had a chicken and avocado salad to start that was very good. Steak sandwich for main course with huge chunky chips and salads. It was all nicely presented and tasty. My colleague had the burger and it was huge! No way you could have eaten it on the bread. Was definitely worth the money, surroundings were really nice - the barasserie is all dark wood and leather. Surprised it wasn't busier!

Yelp
I went here on a slightly damp Saturday afternoon and it was a nice place to have a quiet bit to eat and drink with a friend. We were there about 3 hours and there was no hurrying us away (even though we nursed along two drinks each, with some bar snacks). I was driving so couldn't partake of one of the extensive range of cocktails but they did look awfully good and my companion approved of hers. Service was friendly and good without being pushy. Pretty much as soon as we contemplated going to find the waitress, she appeared! We had some of their two for £6 bar snacks (also four for £12 and six for £18, which seemed superfluous!) which were lovely but the portions were not generous. Do not expect them to make a filling lunch!

Yelp
It's pricey. It's comfortable. The wine's good. The service is excellent. But I wouldn't say it was value for money, especially not if you're vegetarian. I ordered an aioli and they were happy to prepare it for me with fried cheese instead of fish. But the aioli itself was quite bland didn't have nearly the garlic kick it should have.

Yelp
I used to work at The Malmaison. The rooms are very comfortable, well decorated and all have en-suite facilities. The rooms are also very clean, as the housekeeping staff are very strict about this (I know from personal experience!) It also has an excellent brasserie.

Yelp
damn you michael, gettin in on the good places before i have a chance. once again, i concur. great location- on the shore you have shitloads of places to eat and drink- just on the corner you have fishers, probably the best seafood restaurant in edinburgh, and next it, a bar called the shore that is cozy and often has local live music. the hotel itself from the outside is like a mini castle without the tower, so yeah, maybe just big and old fading bricks and old looking. the rooms are minimalistic. great bed, pillows and comforter. the staff are helpful, the breakfasts are great, get the eggs benedict. the bar seems to stay open later for the guests than any of the pubs around during weekdays, so even after i was no longer a guest i worked it. if you are a gambling addict, there is a casino around the corner with a great buffet at midnight, often chinese. no live poker sadly.

Never tire of this place. Food is to die for. Mixed fruit pavlova is a must. There are regularly deals from the usual coupon outlets and you can access these at the quiet times of year or the middle of the week. Last time we were in so was Ronan Keating! Clearly the man has good taste...

Yelp
I'm very much in love with this place. Unfortunately I've yet to stay here but being a fan of it's sister in Glasgow (well the bar anyway) I was keen to check this place out. It didn't disappointed. When some friends and I stopped by for a couple of drinks and nibbles, we ended up staying most of the evening. The decor is very lavish and fun. The service is excellent and the food- yummy.

Yelp
Having stayed in quite a few Edinburgh hotels in a short space of time I would definitely say that this was one of my favourites. The staff could not have been more friendly or helpful. The room was comfortable with funky decor and the best toiletries in any hotel I've been too (very girly I know!). The hotel itself is impressive and beautiful to look at, very reasonably priced for what you get and with a cool and sumptuous feeling. It's not in the city centre but is a short taxi or bus ride away and is in the fashionable Shore area of Edinburgh with plenty of bars and restaurants nearby. I would highly recommend this hotel.

Yelp
I didn't stay in the hotel, just went for lunch but the food was excellent - couldn't fault it at all. The hotel is very stylish and I would expect it would be a good place to stay.

Yelp
We LOVE Malmaison!!!! WE regularly eat at the Malmaison in Edinburgh - great menu, lots of choice and fantastic service. Stayed a few times in Glasgow after nights out where we treat ourselves to a suite. Every eventuality catered for regards the suite, fantastic bed, lots of towel's and chilled champagne on ice waiting.mmmmm

Yelp
Stayed at Malmaison Edinburgh for one night and enjoyed it. On arrival I was impressed by the building, view and decor and the reception staff were very nice, although I was not impressed that they take a charge on your credit card for the room rate and then £50 ontop for any spends you make. I think this is unfair that they take the money in advance, surely they could just do like other hotels and take yur details incase you do a runner! We were booked into a standard room, it was large and nicely decorated but not as impressive as I thought it might be. The bathroom was nice. We were on the 4th floor and the lift was broken for our whole stay - I would think they need to sort out a service agreement with a lift repair company! Still worked off a few calories! Food in the brasserie was delish, very enhoyable and the Homegrown menu was excellent value. Would stay again if I could get a good deal.

Yelp
This is an impressive hotel with a superb restaurant. I've stayed a couple of times and always had an exceptional holiday. The building is impressive making the experience special, the staff are endlessly accommodating and the rooms and facilities are perfect for a relaxing break. I love this hotel.

Yelp
I was expecting so much more for the price. The interior design promises so much more that is actually being delivered. If you look closely, everything there looks a bit tired. The floor look like is has been there since middle ages, chairs are falling apart, the tables are shaky and worn out . I do not even want to know how the kitchen looks like if that was the case in the public area. The menu was beautifully composed. I was very vast, with many options to choose from. It was nice to be able to compose my own dinner. The chef certainly knows how to cook a steak. It was really good. However again, the bill was definitely not proportionate to what we have received. The standard of food and service is far away from what it desires to be. Do not even get me started at the brasserie manager. The best advantage of Malmaison are little restaurants near to it. The Fishers, The Shore, even Granary, deliver far better food and service at proportionate and well deserved prices.

Yelp
We went to the Mal in Edinburgh for a Christmas getaway on a dinner, dine and breakfast offer. I had had great experiences in other Mals so didn't think too much about the before buying. What we experienced really surprised me in how mixed it was; the room was great value for the location and quality (and that it included parking), but the restaurant element was just kinda wrong. The 3 course set menu felt really niche in options and the 'allowance' if you wanted to go for a la carte instead was a paltry £15.95. £15.95 for three courses, seriously? The front of house staff managed to increase this for one night to make things a little more reasonable, but the second night we just were forced to pay more in order to get food we would actually eat. The breakfast food was poor, with small portions and toaster food continually burnt, which didn't help rectify things. We were told the toaster 'always burnt things' - so why not just invest in a new toaster??? Very odd. Seems to me like great service staff (Yasmine at reception = fantastic) set up for failure by a stingy and uncustomer focussed management team. Three stars. Four if you don't spend money on the restaurant; it's just bad value.

Yelp
Really nice hotel. Offers nice rooms and 4 star service. Great price as we paid £99 for Dinner, bed and breakfast for 2 people. Restaurant food is good and the hotel is better than the malmaison in Newcastle. Its not in the town centre but ideal for a quieter weekend close to restaurants the the atlantic terminal shopping centre. Highly recommend the Britannia boat tour

Yelp
Mailmaison, Edinburgh is a 3-star hotel. It's accompanying Brasserie has also been awarded 2 AA Rosettes - and they deserved them! Upon arrival at the check-in desk, we were warmly greeted by the receptionist. One of the managers who was walking past even stopped to chat to us. We were staying in the Port o' Leith Master Suite and if you want something special, go for this! The room is large and beautifully decorated with a magnificent 4 poster bed. The decor is luscious, yet tasteful. There is a comfy couch facing a flat screen, wall mounted TV as well as stereo and DVD player. There is the usual coffee making facilities as well as a well-stocked mini-bar, discreetly hidden away in one of the wardrobes. A frosted double door leads to a large bathroom that features a free-standing bathtub - one of the deepest I have seen (I could float in it) that easily fits two people! There is another flatscreen TV above the tub if you want to watch TV or a DVD while you have a soak. There's also a large separate shower (with two shower heads?) and a double sink. One of the lovely things about Malmaison is that they actively encourage you to take the toiletries provided away with you. These ones weren't of the typical hotel standard but were large sized Arran Aromatics' brand, and there was more than shampoo and conditioner - we also had bath soak, massage oil and body lotion (and they are all now sitting in our bathroom at home!) We had booked a table in the Brasserie for dinner and were quickly seated. The food was amazing. They offer two menus - A 'Homegrown and Local' one and the usual a la carte menu. The homegrown and local one was surprisingly cheap at just under £16 for three courses. As the name suggests, the menu uses food sourced from local suppliers and Scottish farmers and it's a nice touch that they give you more information on the menu about where the food you're eating comes from. The a la carte menu was a more typically priced menu for a hotel of this stature but sounded just as delicious! I ordered Monkfish Grand Mer while my partner has entrecote (steak). The steak was served with marrowbone butter, which to be honest, I balked at however he hoovered it all up as well as his side order of freshly cut chips with a bloody-mary sauce. The fish was perfectly cooked and not at all over-done as many places tend to do. I had a side of spinach and mozerella and the portion was definately on the large side (Malmaison aren't stingy when it comes to portions)! The veg was fresh and the presentation could not be faulted at all! We retired to our room and room service were more than happy to send up some DVDs for us to watch on the flatscreen TV as well as another bottle of wine. We missed breakfast the next day due to sleeping in (purely our own fault) but I will definately be making it to the breakfast the next time we stay!

Yelp
Never been disappointed with this place. I use it for business and can normally get a good rate off their website. Food and wine excellent. Yes they take a pre authorisation on your card when you arrive( another reviewer queried this) but that is standard practice in any top quality hotel. Definitely recommend it.
