Malmaison Leeds (Leeds, UK) 2 Verified Reviews | Tablet Hotels

"There's something of a revolution afoot in the UK — we all know London as the world's most competitive (and expensive) hotel market, the central front in the battle of chic high-design boutiques against stuffy, old-fashioned hotels. But there are interesting things going on all across the country, as the UK, more than any other country, is turning run-down industrial areas (and in some cases, entire cities) into hip retail and commercial destinations." - Tablet Hotels

Absolutely fantastic! Such a better afternoon tea than your run of the mill sandwiches.each savoury piece was carefully crafted and tasted delicious. The brisket bites were amazing and the sticky toffee scones were delightful. Great flavours and such a lovely treat. Thank you

Booked a night away to relax and do some Christmas shopping then complicated it by deciding to arrive in Leeds early to do a parkrun (you can get an A at Armley parkrun if your doing the alphabet challenge).||Reception were incredibly accommodating and allowed us to drop off our bags at 10AM then arranged an early check in so we could come back and shower / change shortly after lunch.||Champagne was delivered to the room mid afternoon which we ended up taking down to the bar for a pre drink before our three course meal in the restaurant. The food was excellent, the staff were great and we had a lovely evening.||The room was comfortable and breakfast the following morning was everything you could hope for.

We had our Christmas meal at the Malmaison for the first and we had a excellent experience. Our party was well catered for by the staff and we had an excellent evening. Service was great and the food quality was as well. We went as a group of 35 and it went perfectly. If you are looking for a venue for such a work event I would definitely recommend.

We had our Christmas party at Malmaison Leeds, and it was a fantastic experience from start to finish. The evening included a three-course meal followed by a party, and everything was really well organised.|The food was delicious and beautifully presented, with all courses arriving on time and hot. The service throughout the night was excellent – the staff were friendly, attentive, and made sure everyone was well looked after without it ever feeling rushed.|After the meal, the party atmosphere was great and made for a brilliant end to the evening. Overall, it was a really enjoyable Christmas celebration and a venue we’d happily recommend for a work party or special event.

We booked our Christmas Do at the Malmaison and it was amazing, one of the best Christmas Dos I have been to. It was very easy to organise, Michelle did an amazing job, kept us informed and up to date and was very accommodating if changes needed to be made.||All staff on the day were very welcoming, friendly and provided excellent service. Can't really ask for anything more.

I stayed here for one night. It's notable that the Malmaison brand which was some years ago 'disruptive' is now an oasis of proper facilities rather than having a hotel, room with no wardrobe, an iron in a laundry room down the hall and no tea or coffee making facilities. My room had all these amenities.||||The hotel is not easy to find from Leeds station but once you arrive it's set in an imposing building which clearly has some history, the building was originally the head office of Leeds City Tramways, later converted into the boutique-style Malmaison hotel in the nineties.....so it was an early Malmaison.||||The staff were good and the room (231) was a good size with a high ceiling. Alas, no view to speak of (an office building on the other side of a courtyard). The bath was nice and deep and the room was quiet. Breakfast was very well appointed with a great cooked menu (I just had the cornflakes) and of note although the staff had just experienced a problem with the toaster (and apologised for the smoke) another toaster appeared within minutes. In fact all the staff at breakfast were very attentive and need congratulating on this.||||Negative points? Only that the 'hip' lighting made the room somewhat dark and, again, breakfast was very dark, not helped by the late dawn breaking and a typical northern grey day. I was also a bit miffed that a checkout request to 12 noon would have been chargeable (I didn't opt in). Oh - and I probably didn't need the coffee machine to tell me how many calories were in the Latte!||||But overall, a pleasant stay and I would recommend.

We stayed here last Friday as we were taking in a concert at the arena, We chose this hotel specifically for the location, just a 15 min walk and close to the city centre. Easy to find when driving in and the car park booking (Q Parks) worked a treat, Check in was swift and easy, the room was ready 30 mins prior to check in which was a bonus. The upgraded room was nice, no problems with noise up on the 4th floor and the room facilities were as you would expect. Nothing flashy that blew your mind but it was a good size, very clean and a nice bathroom. Food wise we only ate Breakfast there and it was very good. I tried a bit of the chef's grenola and it was the best I have had anywhere, seriously. The full English was on point, a nice sized portion without going over the top. My only gripe would be the bar and breakfast area, it was too dark in there for my liking, I appreciate it's in the cellar so there wasn't much natural light but the decor was dark and drab too. It needs brightening up to put you in a good mood. Overall it was a great overnight stay, we go to Leeds often and we have stayed in numerous hotels but providing it remains competitively priced, it will be our go to hotel in the future

Yelp
The cheeky Depot Suite has a wicked 6ft plunge pool made for two, great Bose sound system and comfy sofas in the lounge. A nice big king bed on the bedroom. Not the biggest suite ever but packed with goodies ;)

Yelp
Situated near the station and only a few minutes walk to the city centre, this Mal really has it all. The entrance is decadent and luxurious, really oozing the appeal it so claims to have. I was reluctant to give my bag over for storage as we couldn't check in (due to a previous horrible experience at the Manchester Deansgate Hilton where my make up and jewellery bag got swiped) but the girl behind the desk was reassuring and friendly, asking questions and giving us good advise on the best way to get into town and where to shop/eat. Upon returning the new man behind the desk recognised my mum instantly and had our key cards ready before we'd even reached him. Impeccable service. (This man alone deserves 5 stars as he recognised us when we were leaving as well, which always makes you feel important. I didn't catch a name but he was French [doesn't help in a hotel where they hire a lot of French people] and had more charm than you could shake a stick at, but he was never seedy, a balance that charming people don't always quite get right. Anyway, I digress.) One of the lifts was out of service, which knocked off half a star, and the room was really cold at times, taking off the other half. The room itself was lovely a good size with a great bathroom, lots of space for us to unpack and spread out. As mentioned we couldn't quite get to grips with the air con/heating system so we were a touch iced at times; maybe we were being slow or maybe their system is too complicated, you decide. The lifts speak French which threw us off completely on our first trip but was fun to imitate on other times. The surrounding area felt safe, maybe as it was the gay area and when you're two women it's nice to know that noone around you is interested, and it was an inviting and comfortable place to go back to in between our day and evening activities. Some great offers to be taken advantage of and a great experience all round.

Yelp
Malmaison...famous for its naughty advertising ("Check out the Mrs...check in the Mistress") exudes decadence and encourages the flirtatious side of even the most prim and proper businessman. Large, self-indulgent rooms packed full of tempting tipples and nibbles & luxurious bathing products make Malmaison my number one hotel to stay & play in. Pop down to the Brasserie for a gorgeous meal and the wickedly delicious cocktail list - I recommend a Pornstar Martini - to get the party started before finally lying to rest in your grandiose room. Malmaison encourages secrets, flirtations, dalliances and liasons. What will your Mal secret be?

Yelp
I only visited the restaurant area, but I'm sure the rest is very nice indeed!! But the restaurant area is very nice, and the service is very polite and professional. I ordered the rump steak which was the only steak to include chips, as others were separately ordered. I had the luxury of using the hi-life card, but in these cases, it's well worth it, being 2 for 1 on courses. My steak was nicely cooked, and my preferred fries as the accompaniment to my steaks, which came in a little basket. The interior is nicely furnished too, so offering its guests a fine dining experience and its location is conveniently situated close to the train station. Next time would be great to stay in the hotel, and visit the city!!

Yelp
I had high hopes for Malmaison and I have to admit to being a bit disappointed. Having paid £145 for a spacious superior room for one night, I was hoping for a bit of luxury. And whilst the room was indeed spacious, I felt the service a little lacking and certainly not value for money. Despite the check in time of 2pm, our room was still not ready when we arrived at 4pm. When we finally got to our room, a member of staff was in there chatting on the phone. The room itself was clean and very nicely decorated, although the light switches took a bit of working out (in odd locations). The air conditioning kept switching itself off also. Whilst we were settling in, another member of staff walked into our room without knocking or any other warning - just as well we were fully clothed! Our room was overlooking the street to the side of the hotel and as it was a Saturday night, was quite noisy. I ended up putting ear plugs in to sleep. We had been promised bathrobes in the room, these were missing. The bed was a little hard but the pillows are divine. The hotel seemed busy, but I really felt that the personal attention mentioned by other reviewers was sadly lacking on this occasion. Whilst the accommodation itself is fine, the service needs to be improved before I'll return.

Yelp
Malmaison is only a few minutes walk from the Headrow and Briggate area of Leeds but it does feel worlds apart. It is so pretty inside, but every single time I have been there it has been so quiet, that it has been totally devoid of any atmosphere. The food is nice, and the staff are too, but it's really strange having dinner somewhere so very quiet, you feel like all eyes are on you! I'm sure it gets busier round christmas and new years time but wow, it is sooo not that busy the rest of the year. Maybe it is the lack of free parking or the extortionate cost of the hotel rooms - it's cheaper to stay in the Hilton and that's saying something. Basically if I could get 50 people to go there all at once we'd have a great time. But I can't recommend that 2 people go there because I don't think they'd have a nice time. So it's a strange dilemma for Malmaison - maybe if they dropped their prices a little or advertised more they'd be popular.

Yelp
I have visited Malmaison a few times for a drink in their bar, so I am rating the place on this and not necessarily the hotel or restaurant. Malmaison is pretty luxurious - I dread to see how much it would cost to stay over! The lighting is soft, and so are the furnishings. It's a great place to meet for a drink after work or to hold a meeting. The prices are at the higher end; expect to pay £3 for a pint of lager, but I suppose the atmosphere makes up. The bar itself is hidden away down some steps when you enter the building, creating a cosy area to relax with friends.

Yelp
The Mal is a fair class act. Bit better than the Radisson, bit more consistent than Quebecs. It has incredibly dark, comfortable rooms, that are mostly purple, but stylish. The pillows are awesome, I always wanted to steal one.

Yelp
By Farrr, my favourite chain of Hotels. Leeds Branch was rrright in the thick of it. I should have realised when reception asked me if I wanted a large room, or a quiet room. It being a thursday night, some of the rooms face the pub across the road, but to be honest I didn't hear any of it. These hotels are the epitome of style, and I will always return to them.

Yelp
A lovely hotel in a good location - the resturant is fantastic, really good food and I was suprized as it was really good value too! The rooms are lovely but pricey, but a nice place to stay for a treat! Parking is a bit of an issue too, but if you were going to Leeds by train it would be ideal!

Yelp
A while back I had gone on a location recce and discovered the beautiful interiors of this very beautiful hotel right in the middle of a very bustling Leeds City Centre. I promised myself then, I will return as a guest to enjoy its unashamed luxury.
