Beautiful classic renovated Porto house. High ceilings, claw foot bath, small area to make coffee and mini fridge. Super comfortable bed and pillows. A simple but delicious breakfast is included and on a beautiful morning you can sit in the gorgeous garden. I'm a travel agent and I will put clients here not a problem.

We chose this hotel based on the good reviews, and I can only add to the positive experiences most people have had at this pleasant little hotel. We stayed in the garden suite, with the coolest bathroom with the bathtub overlooking the garden. It was spacious, more like a small apartment, with elegant design and comfortable bed. ||||We were received by Laura, a very helpful young woman, and she offered to help us with whatever wishes we had - restaurant reservations (she had some excellent tips), she booked portwine tasting for us, and helped find train schedule and restaurant tips as we wanted to go on a day trip til the Douro valley. You could always reach her or her colleagues on Whats App, very easy and practical. ||||Breakfast was served in a cosy room with access to the garden and a fireplace (guess it has a very nice atmosphere in the winter as well). Don't expect a big breakfast buffet, it was fairly simple, but very tasty! Fresh bread with ham, cheese, eggs and jam, pastry, cereal, and some dangerously delicious pastel de nata... And outside the room you could enjoy the view of the garden, and the curious cats. One grey cat was a regular guest outside, and as I love cats, this was a highlight as well. ||||I would recommend this place to anyone visiting Porto, and when I come back, I will certainly live here again. I would like to come back in summer when it's warm enough to enjoy the garden to the fullest.

Really nice and small hotel. I can recommend visiting! The staff is great and helpful. The rooms are cute. Breakfast feels like it is made with care. Definitely better than some other options in the same neighborhood. I'd visit again.

My wife and I flew into Santiago and took an excursion to Porto via bus. It was a 3.5 hour bus journey but quite comfortable and well worth it. The front desk closes early and we got to the hotel late but it was no problem as Laura gave us the codes to get into the hotel and our room. The room was more like a suite with bed, sofa, kitchenette and large bathroom with old style tub/shower. The kitchen had the basics for cooking but more importantly a small fridge. There is also a kettle for tea or coffee (coffee, tea, snacks and Port are provided but cost extra. The bed was extremely comfortable and cannot fault the room whatsoever. The breakfast is very small but adequate to start the day and you can get eggs to order if you ask. Laura was extremely helpful and worked very hard to make our stay there as comfortable as possible. The hotel is a 10 minute walk from the metro station where you can get to and from the airport and maybe 15 to 20 minute walk from the main train station and is mostly up hill. There are ubers and taxis also so plenty or ways to get to and from. There is a food market within 5 minutes walking and plenty of restaurants equally close. It is also probably a 20 to 25 minute walk to the river front where there are also lot's of restaurants etc. Lot's of hills but again there are taxis and Uber available. Porto is a great 2 to 3 day town and if your staying more, Laura can arrange excursions as well to winery's etc. Our experience was good food, good wine, and lot's to see with a great hotel to come back to and relax. Thanks again to Laura!!

Our party of 6 (3 couples) thoroughly enjoyed the Malmerendas. This being our 1st trip to Porto, prior to arrival we sent many emails with questions and requests and the hotel consistently provided timely and helpful and clear responses. Being an historic building, there is no elevator but the staff generously assisted in carrying our luggage to our room. Based on maps we were uncertain about the location - Would it be too far north from the river and inconvenient to easy sightseeing? That answer is No. We were able to successfully pull our luggage and walk the 10 minutes from the bus station, with no difficulty in finding this hotel. It is even a shorter walk to the BilBoa market and so many sights. Our room faced the peaceful courtyard, an oasis in the city. Note our room had a claw foot tub - Beautiful and not an issue for us, but wanted readers to be aware and request a different room if there are any mobility concerns. Breakfasts are served in the lower floor and tasty with cooked to order eggs, fresh oj and a pastry assortment. Big thanks to HUDSON for being such a friendly and helpful host and making our stay even more wonderful!

We stayed for 5 days in this hotel and found it cozy yet spacious and comfortable. Our room had a separate eat-in kitchen where we could eat dinner and work on our computers. They have kept the rustic touches (original stone) and made the rooms modern. We used the kitchenette often, loved the daily breakfast, and the service was exceptionally warm and helpful. We also loved the garden in the back, complete with 4 cats that would watch us warily when we sat outside. :) There was a supermarket on the corner for supplies (water, milk, snacks) and fantastic places to eat a block away. Easy walking distance to downtown but much quieter and more peaceful without the crowds. A beautiful place, we would definitely stay again.

Wow, such a special boutique hotel in Porto. I stayed here recently with my husband and parents and it was a wonderful stay. The rooms are beautifully appointed (seriously, the furniture is enviable, they have great taste), and the entire staff was warm and welcoming, they truly ensure you have a comfortable and memorable stay. A true delight.

This was my favorite hotel of my trip to Portugal. The location was walking distance to the center of town and the river, and it had a beautiful, peaceful garden with an orange tree and a very friendly cat. My room was the largest in the hotel, I think - it was a mini-apartment, with a very large bedroom, a little eat-in kitchenette, a separate sitting room with a television, and two bathrroms. The bedroom opens onto a bathing area with a giant soaking tub overlooking the garden. There were giant sliding glass doors you could open to get air, with geometric metal screens to provide privacy and security. This room also had its own exterior stairs down to the garden.
