Mama Sofia

All round a very good restaurant, we was recommended it as we have had some bad experiences in the old town and it didn't fail us. Friendly funny staff and food was out fairly quickly, which was impressive as the places was packed. It's not Michelin star food it's just good honest tasty food which isn't expensive. When we got there the front seating was full and we was led through to a red painted walled courtyard in the back which was very nice and by the end of the meal that was full so obviously it has a good reputation.

We are a family of 5 so it’s not always easy to find places that everyone loves. From the moment we entered Mama Sofia, we were greeted with a warm, inviting atmosphere. The charming décor reflects a traditional Greek style, making it a perfect spot for a lovely meal. The staff truly impressed us with their exceptional service. They were attentive, friendly, and genuinely cared about our dining experience, making us feel right at home, even speaking our native language. Now, onto the food—absolutely delicious! Each dish was flavorful and beautifully presented, with generous portions that made us feel like we were enjoying a meal with family. The fresh ingredients and authentic Greek flavors were truly delightful. Mama Sofia exceeded our expectations with its outstanding food and welcoming atmosphere. We can’t wait to return and enjoy more of their incredible dishes. Highly recommend!

Mama Sofia’s sons run a wonderful restaurant. The service was some of the best we had in Rhodes. They told us the story of the restaurant and were very attentive. Our family of four shared the 2 person Greek platter and it was plenty of food. The food was delicious. I especially liked the meatballs and the pita. The fresh squeezed orange juice was also very tasty. On the slightly more expensive side, but well worth it.

I chose this spot for my special birthday dinner and it did not disappoint! I was sooo excited to try the platter for two, to try a little bit of everything! It was so great to have dishes like moussaka that normally have gluten in them ☺️ allergens aren’t marked on the menu but the servers are so confident and knowledgeable in what can be GF - they can make most of the menu gluten free!! The only down side were the chicken kebabs which were so chewy and almost inedible. Overall great vibes though and delicious cocktails!

A fantastic traditional Greek restaurant! The Greek salad and Döner gyros were absolutely delicious—fresh, flavourful, and generously portioned. Service was quick and efficient, with friendly and attentive staff who made us feel very welcome. I highly recommend this place to anyone looking for authentic Greek food in a relaxed and pleasant atmosphere.

Mama Sofia was our favourite restaurant. We did travel during their off peak season and had been unlucky with the weather. However, we stumbled across Mama Sofia and returned 3 times. All the food was delicious and I would highly recommend their focaccia and pizza. The staffs were all extremely friendly and welcoming and made our experience memorable. I would highly recommend you to give Mama Sofia at least a try once. You will not be disappointed. I’m missing you already Mama Sofia!

I’ll definitely take a moment to talk about this place because it holds a special place in my heart. It’s probably my favorite restaurant memory from the Old Town of Rhodes. Mama Sofia is a place where you truly feel like you’re having dinner with a Greek family. The gyros was delicious and the portions were… HUGE! There are also plenty of vegetarian options available. The drinks were really tasty too. And the gem of this place is Mr. Alex, who invited us in—such an incredibly positive and smiling person. I have to say, it’s been a long time since I felt so good in any place. I highly, highly recommend it :) If I ever return to Rhodes, my first meal will definitely be there!

AMAZING SERVICE, they were sooooo kind it was unbelievable! My friend doesn’t like cats so they sat us upstairs in a private area and treated us like family! The owner was there and he was soooooo lovely honestly, wishing him and his restaurant the best for the future. Also the food was AMAZING, I loved the bruschetta and the feta cheese with honey, and the portion sizes for the main were massive
