Super friendly and efficient service, really large servings. Got a bonus spring roll for waiting slightly longer for my food to come out, which was nice. Beef pho soup was really tasty - among the best in Perth! Slightly let down by the beef being slightly tougher than it should be and noodles a little too soft. Stuffed chicken wings were okay, but not the tastiest - definitely benefits from dipping in some Sriracha. Overall would recommend :)

Very tasty and authentic Vietnamese food. It gets chockers in here during lunchtime. Love the help yourself condiments and free tea! If you don't like coriander you will have to ask them to not put it in as it is in most of the dishes.

Great spot for lunch, plenty of seating from table for two or you can fit a large group in here. Place was clean and tidy, great customer service! Food was good, reasonable prices and a great choice of items. Love the complimentary tea from the area they have set up. Also great selection of condiments, fresh beans, chili, lemon and the like, help yourself. Well set up place for good value meal that is very welcoming.

I’m looking forward to trying Mama Tran a second time. I had the Rare Beef Rice Noodle soup and it was good, but just missed the mark. The rare beef was not quite as rare as I expected, there was no red left in it. But it was not over cooked either. The broth base was very tasty and the best part about the soup. I just felt that it was missing the strong infusion of flavours it needed, especially for $13.5 This being said, this place is clearly an institution. It’s lunch time on a Wednesday and there is a steady stream of business professionals coming and going and enjoying their lunches. Long communal tables inside and a small selection of seating outside gives you at choices of seating wether it’s lunch for one, of Friday Funch Day with the whole office. So, I’ll be back to give them another shot. I’m keen to try the Vietnamese Rolls and one of their coffees to see if I can improve my rating.

The broken rice wasn’t too bad but the Pho was a disappointment, basically they filled the bowl with mountain of noodle with not much meat in it and no character taste to it, just a fish sauce taste. It’s not bad if you’re in rush for a quick lunch but for the price, I would go to a proper Vietnamese Pho restaurants.

Fast service even when very busy during the suit and tie workers lunch breaks. Food was tasty and portions seemed reasonable. Average price from $9-$13 for the bowls.

Google
Not a bad place at all. Service was fast, and it’s obviously a popular spot for locals, it was bustling. I had a bowl of chicken pho, a meal I eat in America regularly as it’s one of my favorites. The bowl of pho was not bad, but I think I prefer a richer broth, as well as I never did find any Basil. And they did have a wide variety of common Vietnamese meals to choose from. I think I will venture to another shop to compare Perth’s Pho.. I wish I had time to hit every spot.

A good Vietnamese casual cafe with takeaway and fast food - either prepared or made fast. Good pricing, good quality and friendly staff

Yelp
I got high expectation from the reviews yet I found the food was just alright. I ordered pho tai or rice noodles with raw beef. Apparently, beef slices were in tiny pieces and cooked. Compared portion of beef to noodles and bowl size, it is not well balanced. Less meat and more noodles. 2 deep fried spring rolls for $4. Crispy and yummy with sweet chili sauce. I also order broken rice with grilled pork to go. Well packed. It smells great. Overall, the place is clean and organized. You order, pay, and wait to get food. There are stations where you could get selection of sauce, fresh basil leaves, chili, lemon and hot tea.

Yelp
Anywhere that has ample lashings of hot c*ck sauce at the ready makes me smile. There is something magical about Sriracha Sauce! We popped into Mama Tran for a quick bite before a Wildcats game. We eat a lot of Vietnamese as it is a fresh, cheap and reasonably healthy way to get food into your belly if you are in a rush. We ordered the bun cha gio ga nuong (vermicelli chicken salad with spring rolls), coated it in Sriracha and loved every bite. Perfect spot for a quick meal before a show or a catch up with friends.

Yelp
Mad love for this spicy sauceress! Props to Ben G for suggesting MT for our lunch catch up, and introducing me to my new favourite lunch haunt. This cafeteria style eatery delivers a bowl of super fresh flavours in a chilled friendly environment. Everyone you're sharing a table with will be all smiles while they're biting into a spicy banh mi, so it makes it a very enjoyable lunch spot. Look forward to seeing you again soon Mama.

Yelp
Such an awesome place. Definitely 5 stars. Oh mama!!! What can I say? Annie L & I decided to catch up over Vietnamese lunch in the city & chose Mama Tran. As I walked in, there was ample table seating with heaps of tables adjoined to each other. Time was 11:30am. As I was waiting for Annie, I walked around browsing through the Asian groceries at the back of the shop. Thought that was nice to sell a small but good range of Asian groceries. Over the front counter, there's hot & cold food for sale. From boxed rice lunches, bahn mi, spring rolls to Vietnamese rice paper rolls. Just looking at them all is enough to make me salivate. I had no choice but to start without Annie. Bought myself the rice paper rolls & seated right at the back of the shop(where the drinks are). Few mins into me stuffing my face with those delicious rolls, office workers started pouring in.... OMG, soon my sight was mostly people in black suits. Service was so efficient. I cannot believe how quick the service was. We ordered as soon as Annie arrived. Within 5 mins, our orders were ready. We were given a buzzer & geez I'm still amazed at how efficient their service is at peak hour. Unlike other Vietnamese noodle cafés where you'll be served with Vietnamese mint, lemon slice, chilies & bean spouts... Here you gotta get those yourself. Including sauces & a cup of tea. At the table, you get serviettes. Now, you must be wondering how's the crowd dealing with limited seating. Mmm..seems like everyone eats & go. It's a smooth operation. I love it. I ordered Vermicelli noodles with grilled chicken & spring rolls. I have been thinking about this since I saw Laura D's posting some time back. Always wanted to eat this & it has become my new favorite. By the way, it's a cold dish. The sauce is salty(fish sauce) & sweet. The balance is just nice when they are all mixed together. The grilled chicken is perfectly seasoned & grilled. Spring rolls crunchy. PERFECT. Salivating again just thinking about it. Annie L has the traditional Pho. She says it's good. I'll have to take her word for it. After all, she says she's quite fussy with Vietnamese pho. Not sure if there's a bathroom. Might check it out next time *wink* Love this place truly. Simple yet efficient. Would I recommend Mama Tran to anyone? Oh I definitely would... especially all my mates that work in the city or near Milligan street. Thumbs up. Very happy.

Yelp
I'm a loyal fan of Mama Tran and have probably contributed to them being able to open up their new branch in Carillon upper food court. Delish Bahn Mi with Chicken Pate. I'm a sucker for their Beef Noodle soups but everything on their menu is delectable and worth trying over the free tea provided. There's even a supermarket to pick up your oriental goods if you have to. Great idea as it doubles as a pantry for the restaurant. My favourite Vietnamese in Perth. These guys are also featured in the Entertainment Book so come spoil your friends.

Yelp
Excellent Vietnamese, a bit more modern and " clean " in the setting of the restaurant, but the food tasted very good and fresh. They have a condiment bar so you can help yourself to as much sauce as you'd like.

Yelp
I am a more frequent visitor of Mama Tran other store in the CBD however I decided to take Claire F here on Thursday night since we both felt like something simple and warm given the unexpected weather. It was everything I had come to expect, with the added bonus that they allow BYO beer and wine and with a Bottle-o very close by you don't even have to overly come prepared. The food was fresh, tasty and really enjoyable; the prices are fantastic, and the staff efficient. It's probably not a date spot with the atmosphere but it is good for groups if you have plans to head on out somewhere else on a Thursday or Friday night. Of course their core business is the weekday lunch crowd and as long as you get in earlish you be certain to get a seat, else you may have to hunt for an opening.

Yelp
Just cannot get enough of this place! Everything here is DELICIOUS! They have heaps of sauces and garnishes available even if you personally do not value the deliciousness that is Mama Tran. I've had the soups, salads and banh mi (sp?) here and all have been so so so addictive / amazing. I would however recommend skipping the banh mi from here only due to it being $10+ and you can get on from city provisions which is the same deliciousness for $7. I'd recommend eating in here if you can get a table and treat yourself to a soup, salad or meat & rice. Though if you want to get a seat on a week day lunch time then you will need a strategy. I'll give mine away for free: don't rock up between 12 and 12:10 or 12:30 and 12:40. Be smart; get there at like 11:55 or 12:45, because this place is CRAZY quick and all those suckers in the line who leave work at exactly the same time everyday (on the hour or half hour) for lunch will be cleared by Mama for you to waltz in and make your order in peace. So now I'll need to change my lunch time, but I feel that I will be rewarded for my gift to humanity... With Vietnamese salad.

Yelp
Fresh, healthy, inexpensive and tasty. If that doesn't warrant five stars then i don't know what does. Seriously. If you work in the city and are starting to forget that lunch doesn't have to be served between two slices of bread this is place is a god send.

Yelp
This place is so well run, providing delicious fresh food while being insanely packed out. I rocked up yesterday afternoon smack bang in the middle of the 12.30 lunch rush, found a car park right out the front and was in & out with takeaway banh mi's in under 10 minutes. AMAZING! When I first walked in the line was wound all the way around the restaurant and I considered going elsewhere but the two staff members at the tills were doing the most amazing job taking down orders and getting food out in record time. The 2 pork banh mi rolls with pate that I ordered takeaway were fresh and so delicious. I will definitely be back to try more on the menu as the noodle dishes looked perfect for these wintery Perth days.

Yelp
The food is quite average - you need to get out to Girrawheen to experience authentic Vietnamese. You'll really notice the difference. But for lunch, I find Mama Tran is quite OK. Incredibly busy (not much good food down this area that's reasonably priced) so try to come early. They are very efficient at serving .

Yelp
It's packed! I got here just past 12 and almost all tables full and a line up ... BUT the speedy which they deliver the food is fantastic.. A short wait to order and till my order was ready. Fast, fresh, yummy.. Mi Kho was delicious. My pic is halfway through meal.. I was starving!

Yelp
I have been wanting to try this place for ages and finally got here last week for lunch- yummm! I love the est up of the place, it has a semi cafeteria feel- but in a good, chilled way! I ordered the Pho thai and my partner ordered a Bahn min roll. We sat down with our buzzer and only had to wait a short 3 minutes for our meals to come out. I loved how they had a stand which had all the essentials for a meal such as these including fresh cut lemon, mint, chilli sauce, hoisin sauce and more. I loaded up on all of them and my Pho was delicious! The bahn mi roll was sooooo good to and I will definitely be going back to try out more!

Yelp
So Mama Tran has now opened in the Carillion, it was a little hard to find first up as it is hidden up in the Level 3 Eatery next to Sasellas! It's a spin off of the insanely busy Milligan Street one so I was happy to hear there was another one opening as sometimes just entering the original one can be considered a lunchtime sport at times! I have been here three times since it opened in December, the first time the actual food hall was like a ghost town, the second time the food court was insanely busy and this week there was no wait, walked straight up and ordered and had my food in about 2 minutes, the food hall was quiet! I am a sucker for a good Vietnamese noodle salad (Bún Bò Nng & Bún Gà Nng) and whilst this isn't the best one I have ever had (Tao currently leads in this race) I have been here three times in as many weeks so I have no real complaints about the food. They have a good menu consisting mostly of soups, noodle dishes and rice paper rolls. The food is fresh and tasty, I love that Vietnamese food has very little fat content and relies heavily on fresh contents and herbs and I am becoming a fan of this place. My only quibble would be the price, for lunch in the CBD $11.50/$12.50 definately tips the high end of the scales for me!

Yelp
If you have ever been to Vietnam and crave authentic Vietnamese food back at home, then this is the closest you will find here in Perth in my opinion. I eat lunch here more than once a week usually due to the close proximity to my workplace. Every time I have been Mama has never disappointed me! My favorite dishes the Mi Kho (Egg Noodles with some amazing sauce, pork and prawns), Rare Beef Pho and the Banh Mi (Vietnamese Rolls), Spicy Beef and Noodle Soup and surprisingly they make an awesome Laksa (On Fridays only) which is not a Vietnamese dish but still delicious. Be warned here, that if your thinking it will be a breeze to walk in snag a table and order straight away at exactly 12pm then you will be sorely mistaken, this place is a popular lunch spot. Best to get here at 11:45am to beat the rush. If you do go in the peak period they are amazingly efficient given the number of people they are serving, just expect to have to hunt around for a seat.

Yelp
I'm lucky enough to be able to indulge at Mama's a couple of times a week and I can't see myself bucking this trend for some time to come. It's perfect for lunch if you are looking for something quick, fresh, great value and bursting with flavour. You can tell that the chefs put their heart into what they do as everything tastes fantastic. Despite the number of times I go, I still haven't tried everything on the menu, but I can recommend any of the Pho or noodle dishes. The Mi Kho is my favourite and the baguettes are excellent if you want to grab something to go. I love the communal seating as it doesn't matter if you are alone or in a group you can always find somewhere to sit. Do yourself a favour and check Mama's out.

Yelp
Like Saul on his way to Damascus, I was converted by Mama Tran's stunning flavor combinations overlayed by a freshness that is quintessentially Vietnamese cuisine. This is well executed thoughtful street food served in a modern clean environment (bonus gluten free dishes....avoid the bloating). The Banh Mi Ga was delicious, a crispy rice roll filled with a dressed salad and chicken, the pièce de résistance was the Bun Bo Nuong a delicate noodle salad topped with beef strips. Two points of contention, the huge portion size, and the lack of JW Root beer, minor distractions in the culinary dance that is the Mama Tran. Congrats to the trustee's of Mama Tran CQ Trust.

Yelp
It's cheap, clean and has a great atmosphere what's not to love? Lunches around the $10 to $12 mark , fast service and very busy, the food is wonderful. They have a small supermarket of Vietnamese/Asian foods you can peruse whilst your lining up but the line moves quickly so you wont get bored. They also have Vietnamese milk iced coffee on tap with ice available. Great for a casual lunch.

Yelp
What can I say that hasn't already been said? It's exceptionally great value. It's fresh, it's quick and it's absolutely delicious. From my one trip of two weeks to Vietnam, it's pretty close to authentic, too. If you are anywhere near and have an hankering for noodles, it's definitely worth a look-in.

Alex L.

Yelp
sadly they had run out of the classic pork banh mi so I settled for the 'healthier' banh mi - the chicken however it was full of flavour and I actually enjoyed it more than I thought I would! service is fast, efficient, friendly and there's heaps of seating!! Overall I love Mama Tran and I'll for sure be back again and again and.... again :)

Charly L.

Yelp
Excellent lunch spot for a quick and tasty Vietnamese lunch. I had the Pho Tai which was cooked beautifully. The broth was seasoned to perfection and the meat was plentiful and tender. You can top your Pho with tonnes of thinly sliced green chillies, lemons and mint. There is complimentary tea and water available which is great if you are thirsty! The meals came out really quickly. The toilets were clean and there was a mirror. It looks as though there is another restaurant open on the 3rd floor of Carillion Arcade. You may need to get there before 12 to get a seat, but it is well worth the queues and the wait!

Yelp
Mama tran is a godsend! We just moved to Perth and have been shocked at the lack of fresh and delicious vietnamese food. We dropped into Mama Tran right at the end of their lunch service hoping it would give us faith that we could get good vietnamese in our new home - we were far from disappointed. Mama hooked up a great sandwich despite having the kitchen closed and the prices are extremely reasonable - especially in a city where everything seems ungodly expensive without being of high quality. Mama Tran is delicious AND a great price. This will for sure be one of our regular spots.

Paul Fletch M.

Yelp
Wow... Was surprised with the size of the meal for such a good price. Mmm... So fresh and yummy... A flavor explosion :)

Pixie P.

Yelp
Mama Tran, since opening up at the food court, had been a regular lunch spot. My favourite on their menu is Bun Cha Gio - rice vermicelli with spring rolls. Their magic salad dressing is what makes this dish so super awesome. Oh the spring rolls are possibly the best I had in Perth. I've always been a fan of Vietnamese food. It's their style of delicate balance of the different flavours, a surprise with every bite.

May M.

Yelp
a good vietnamese place for delicious pho & banh mi. lunch hour is usually packed with ppl, it's like a battlefield. they've also got some asian groceries on the shelf available for purchase~
