Mama's Chalet

I had a really lovely stay here. The family who owns the place is super funny and kind and I really felt at home. The food is prepared rather simple but always tasty and the prices are absolutely okay for the islands. The rooms are basic and yes the bathroom sink could use a scrub but for the price it is such a good value if you are looking for a more budget option and not a resort. No bugs as well

The chalet is average and ok. Very basic room. There are no porter from the jetty which tight to Barat. The restaurant is a good option for those no meal voucher from Barat or Coral View or PIR. Food is Malaysian traditional Malay cuisine. In my opinion much cheaper than next door resort. Taste is okay can try if want to explore.

The food is great here. Must eat here if living in Barat to avoid overpriced food. Their BBQ,Pizza,Drinks and Black pepper chicken and rice were very good.

I spent three nights here with my wife and two children of about 10 years old. The rooms are dirty and full of cockroaches. The bathroom in very bad condition. The sheets were stained with undefined brown marks. We tried to ask for a new room and the staff was not helpful at all. Very bad management. At the restaurant you can choose the fish or meat you prefer, you pay in advance, they cook and bring everything to your table. We got half a kilo of squid and half of it arrived at the table... bad! I won't even go back there for free.

Yes, the Bungalow are maybe Basic. But Clean. The staff was very Kind, the Restaurant affordable and yummy. We were quite satisfied and happy

I just ate in the restaurant. Prices are lower and food tastes good. Lower than the resort I was staying

Besides the fact that the hotel is close to a very nice beach (the one from Perhentian Island Resort), I don’t see any positive point to highlight. First, The chalet is not well accommodated at all: it is dirty, full of insects and sand. Clearly it was not cleaned before I got in. There is not even a bed sheet to go under the bed cover that everyone use (disgusting). The pillows under the pillow case are clearly disgusting (huge stains) . There is no toilet paper, no soap in what can barely be called “a bathroom”. Second, since chalet is made of very thin wood, there is no isolation whatsoever: the mosque in front of the hotel will be your daily 5 am alarm clock, if it is not someone talking outside. Finally, WiFi does not reach the garden chalet, it only works (well) on sea front.
