19 Best Restaurants in Bali, Offering Indonesian Classics, Vegan Tasting Menus, and More

"Mama San is among the island’s most popular restaurants, still filling up its two industrial loft-style floors with flavor hunters since it opened in 2010. It also hosts perhaps Bali’s most famous restaurant mural: a striking hand-painted portrait of fictional young madame Mama San, never too far to keep an eye on her 1920s gentlemen club-style space where “she” serves Balinese, Indonesian, Thai, and Chinese dishes (via chef Will Meyrick) with fine dining twists. Thank goodness the terms “popular” and “excellent” don’t have to be mutually exclusive. Meyrick hasn’t at all lost his touch in the kitchen, creating standout Asian flavors like prawn curry, roasted peking duck with cranberry hoisin sauce, and slow cooked beef rendang. There's also a hefty and well-curated wine selection as well as a strong cocktail program." - Regan Stephens

We went 4 of us for lunch as a treat on our second last day of our holiday and it was a treat indeed. We ordered 2 entrees of dim sum - generous serves and very delicious along with a cocktail each to start off. Then we did the lamb shoulder, Peking duck and char siu pork, which the waiter recommended. All of the dishes were sensational. The waiter very kindly informed us that we had probably ordered enough dishes as we were contemplating ordering a rice dish also and we were grateful for his advice as there was plenty of food and left us room for desserts! We had a lovely bottle of wine and beers too. The price isn’t cheap but we felt it was worth every penny for a beautiful meal and drinks and great service. Would highly recommend and will definitely be back.

Brought my partner here for dinner, as I've had amazing food and service on previous visits.. and it did not disappoint. My partner was blown away by the flavour of all the dishes.. we had about 7 dishes including the pork hock with mandarin pancakes. Every dish was just wow! A real flavour party in every dish. This place is a must on any visit to Bali.

Beautiful restaurant, food is Asian fusion and exceptionally well done. It’s a must do dining experience. I’m a plain eater, so had Peking duck which was delicious. My other party members had much more exciting dishes which they really loved. We shared the Tiramisu and the chocolate donut, AWESOME!

This is good place to chill out and gathering with friends and family. The atmosphere is cosy and relax. It has many varieties of cocktails. We ordered much food to try. The beef carpaccio was excellent, the chili lime fish was bad - it was supposed to be deboned but so many bones in the fish and not tasty. The pork tomahawk was excellent, the red snapper was good with acar, the lobster popcorn is not good as the batter overpower the taste. The sour dough nan was good. The pulut hitam sweet was not bad but other dessert like dark chocolate cream is not good

We’ve visited this restaurant several times during our trips to Bali, and it continues to impress. It’s my wife’s absolute favorite spot on the island, and for good reason. We recently celebrated her birthday here, and everything from the food to the service to the ambiance was exceptional. The staff went above and beyond to make the evening special. I also have specific dietary restrictions, and the team was incredibly attentive and accommodating, ensuring everything was prepared perfectly and safely. If you’re planning a trip to Bali, this place is an absolute must. Consistently amazing—highly recommended!

If I could rate higher than 5 stars I would!! Had lunch here at the recommendation of a friend. The pad thai was delicious along with the pork belly. Dishes came out with utmost attention to detail and presented beautifully. I cannot recommend the Mango Pavlova enough, as an Aussie I’ve eaten my fair share of pavlovas, the dessert from here is next level. Nice ambience and great service.

Great spot for Asian fusion in Bali! Big space over 2 levels that can accommodate big groups if needed. Different seating options available depending on what you’re after… lounge, tall tables, booths, long tables, bar… Staff were welcoming, helpful and super smiley - very attentive. Cocktails were AWESOME and although a little on the $ side, it shows in the high quality of what is delivered. Food was very tasty and if you like spice…. They can deliver!!! (But also - you can ask for no spice if it’s not your thing). Everything came out pretty quick but there is a great ambiance at night with low lighting (upstairs) and a small table lamp, comfy seats and soft deep house music flowing in the background and lots of art and cool things to look at while you wait. Bike parking on sight and the attendant is super helpful to get you in. We had some naan, stir fry veg and the red curry pork belly fried rice and a coconut pancake scallop starter. Everything was really high quality. Would 100% recommend & will definitely be back again.

Review of Mamasan Bali: A Timeless Culinary Gem I recently revisited Mamasan Bali after more than 10 years, and I’m delighted to say that it has aged beautifully. The restaurant has expanded into a larger space, which now includes a stylish bar and lounging area, making it an even more inviting destination. The menu remains a fantastic blend of Chinese, Thai, and classic dishes, and the quality of the food is just as impressive as I remembered. Each dish is crafted with care, showcasing bold flavors and fresh ingredients. However, I do wish they offered a bar snacks menu alongside their drinks, as it would enhance the overall experience for those enjoying the lounge area. Service at Mamasan is consistently good, with attentive staff who are knowledgeable about the menu. Given the restaurant's popularity, I highly recommend making a reservation to secure your spot. Parking is handled by valet service, but it is somewhat limited, so plan accordingly. Overall, Mamasan Bali continues to be a delightful culinary gem that I’m glad to have rediscovered. It’s a perfect spot for a casual dinner or a night out with friends, and I look forward to my next visit!
