"Among the island’s most popular restaurants, this two-floor, industrial loft-style space has been filling up with flavor hunters since it opened in 2010 and was revamped in 2023. It also hosts perhaps Bali’s most famous restaurant mural: a striking hand-painted portrait of fictional young madame Mama San, never too far to keep an eye on her 1920s gentlemen club-style space where “she” serves Balinese, Indonesian, Thai, and Chinese dishes (via chef Will Meyrick) with fine dining twists. Thank goodness the terms “popular” and “excellent” don’t have to be mutually exclusive. Meyrick hasn’t at all lost his touch in the kitchen, creating standout Asian flavors like prawn curry, roasted peking duck with cranberry hoisin sauce, and slow cooked beef rendang. Beautiful night in Mamasan Bali! Highly recommend for anyone love fusion or a date night. Family friendly too however not much variety for kids to choose from. We have picked the feed me menu which have plenty of food that we can’t even finish. I wish I can continue however we were just too full from all the amazing food. Make sure to order no spicy if you are not spicy tolerant :) ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ highly recommend!

Food was mostly good here, the best was; spicy tuna ceviche, scallop & prawn pocket dumplings, prawn toast and chicken & truffle siu mai. The rendang donut was a bit dry inside and not flavourful, lobster popcorn was nice but not huge stand out and the white chocolate fudge cake was a bit too dense and hard. The service staff forgot to put our drinks in, had to follow up 40mins later, this was a bit disappointing as the restaurant wasn’t busy, there was only 4-5 tables of people and we were quite thirsty as they didn’t even offer us water. The restaurants fit out/decor was beautiful.

The foods are amazing, especially the black sticky rice with lychee and coconut ice cream. Shoutout to Mbak Winny & Mbak Anggi for being so friendly to me and my daughter! Definitely will come back next time.

Decided to visit Mama San after seeing it recommended across social media. The restaurant has a beautiful setup with a stylish, comfortable ambience, and the service staff were attentive, friendly, and genuinely welcoming — definitely a strong point of the experience. We ordered the dishes they recommended (as shown in the pictures), but the food unfortunately didn’t live up to expectations. Although served hot, the deep-fried items weren’t crispy at all — the batter felt soft and lacked the light crunch you would expect. The flavours were also surprisingly muted, without the punch or depth that Mama San is usually known for. For a place with such a strong reputation, the dishes tasted flat and one-dimensional. Overall, it’s a lovely place with great service and atmosphere, but the food needs more attention to texture and flavour execution to match its hype.

Wow what an amazing feast we had today! We had the prawn gyoza, scallop pancakes, beef carpaccio, lobster shrimp pop corn, soft shell crab and tuna on squid ink and sago crisps. Please see the photos below. The photos don’t do the flavours justice! The sauces are paired so perfectly! The food is extremely reasonable for the exceptional taste! Our bill was only increased because of a bottle of cheapest bubbles which was $75 (fairly normal in Bali). The service was impeccable, the atmosphere was perfect, and the aircon comfort to die for! My husband and I have our secret love Nobu but this has just become one of our must go to’s!

Christmas Eve cocktails and dinner with family and we absolutely loved it. We started with cocktails at the bar and the team were engaging and made fantastic 🍹 to kick off the evening. We then transitioned into dinner and picked the set menu and every dish was yum 😋 and generous. Dinner team were just as attentive and made our evening special. Thank you Mama Sam, been here 3 times and you absolutely still deliver a great experience.

The last time I was here was a few years ago, before they expanded the restaurant. Now it’s twice the size—and it was my husband’s first visit. He’s a very picky eater who loves trying interesting flavors, and he said it was ABOVE his expectations. All the staff were incredibly friendly and attentive. The only downside was that the tables for 2–4 people are a bit close to each other, so having a private conversation might be challenging. That said, the food was an absolutely fantastic experience. Was in the Seminyak area and decided to head here for Lunch based solely on having eaten at a number of the owners restaurants in the past both in Bali and Australia. Not disappointed at all. Had 3 smaller dishes as Starters and my favourite was the Fish Cakes, but the Betel Leaf Chicken was excellent as well. The chicken stir fry was lovely and fragrant and enough spicy heat to enjoy. Impeccable service and in a wonderful building and great comfortable seats. So glad I was able to make time for lunch amd didnt disappoint
