Food, service and atmosphere was impeccable. I was so impressed by the quality and standard of food. I have not had Italian food like it since being in Italy. Also if you have young children, the staff are so fun and helpful to make your experience enjoyable. I will definitely be back in the future!

We were planning to celebrate our friend's birthday and tried to get a table for 8 in a few places in Stirling and ended up in Mamma Mia. It was a lovely Italian restaurant with really good food! Ordered the vegetarian pizzas and pastas and had the best tiramisu I have ever had. The waiters were really lovely too. Mr. Saverio found out that we were celebrating the birthday and gave the tiramisu for free!!!! Definitely look forward to going there again and trying other foods!

The reason for dropping a star is because one member of staff was quite abrupt when we arrived which kinda set the tone, although as time went on the behaviour became more positive. The food is delicious and piping hot and overall Mamma Mia is a great wee restaurant. I just wish the staff would raise their game as this is the one part that lets the overall experience down.

Google
Despite some mixed reviews , we thought why not ? Tbh can't understand why there negative comments about staff as they were all really nice and looked after us very well. We shared a starter of King prawns on a nice sauce with toasted bread..yum. Pizzas were absolutely delicious ( we've been to Italy many times so know a good one when we see & taste it ) proper home made base , thin with raised edges , the cheese and tomato used was of the finest quality & all topped off with a generous portion of pepperoni. As the Pizzas were a good size we shared a desert and chase the lemon and mint cheesecake and despite it sounding a bit of a strange combination again it was lovely. The decor had the Italian vibe and atmosphere was relaxed with a nice buzz. No hesitation in recommending , enjoy.

My husband and I visited Mamma Mia when visiting Stirling for our 4th anniversary. The food and service was outstanding and was one of the best meals out I have had. The wine was delicious too. The staff were so attentive and helpful. I could not recommend this place enough and I will be definitely revisiting if I am in the area again!

Google
Great food, tasty and everything you would want it to be. We arrived hot from walking (25-min walk) and had water and a fan provided straight away by the attentive and helpful staff. I can not say how great the staff were for our whole experience. Great building, just up the road from the main town with indoor and outdoor tables and stunning flavours. Highly recommended

Google
Upstairs so nice and airy . Very good service for 5 people from a fairly young but very attentive waiter . All of us had something different from the menu and all were delighted with the food . Would go again when in Stirling .

Google
My partner and I dined at Mamma Mia last weekend and had a great experience. The food was delicious, and the service was great. Our server (Junior was his name) did an excellent job making sure we were well taken care of. We’ll definitely be back!

Yelp
We're seated immediately with 8 people no reservation. Bathroom falling apart no way to wash hands toilets clogged. Spaghetti Bolognese was really good.

Yelp
This was the best food we've had in Scotland, well, ever. We had the signature dish, Sugo mamma Mia, and spaghetti carbonara. They were amazing. Our drinks and desserts were also delicious and the service was just right. I would eat here every day if I could.

Yelp
Stopped in for lunch after touring the castle. Staff were very friendly and attentive and the food was amazing. Highly recommend the house special!

Yelp
UNEXPECTED ITALIAN TREASURE! we walked in with no expectations! SECRET CENTURIES OLD RECIPES! Who would've thought that we could find true amazing Italian pizza in the heart of Sterling Scotland? Not to mention over the top 10 star tiramisu? The specialty that was the Mamma Mia pasta with short ribs was phenomenal. The sa sa pizza had such amazing flavor with the tomato sauce, and the crust was to die for. My friend judges Italian restaurants all over the world based on their tiramisu, and she gave them a 10 star out of five stars! It was light real double cream, and just enough brandy and cocoa to balance the wonderful flavors. The cream sauce with the prawns took seafood to a much higher level compared to most restaurants and I would recommend ordering a side dish of it to dip the pizza crust inThe owner has family recipes and he takes great pride in it. The waiter Junior was phenomenal and attentive. What a great lunch surprise.

Yelp
Couldn't make me an amaretto sour. We paid £7.50 for 2 pieces of bruschetta. My mom and son really liked their respective pastas (spaghetti bolognese and the house special). I had the Margherita pizza, and it was tasty, but lacked tomatoes and only had two tiny pieces of shriveled basil. Good crust and cheese though. The Tira misu- supposedly an award-winning specialty- was soggy. Parking is also tricky. Overall, I would go back if necessary, but would prefer to try a different restaurant if I had the choice.

Yelp
We decided to go to Mamma Mia on our first night in Stirling because it was close to our Airbnb. What a good choice. A lovely cosy restaurant with great food. A trio of bon bons as starter followed by pizza, spaghetti carbonara, gnocchi and braised ox cheeks as mains. The dishes on the specials menu are great. Lovely quality!

Yelp
Best food we had in Scotland. A little family restaurant on a side street in downtown Sterling, have been recommended by some locals, and it was definitely worth the recommendation. The pasta was hand made the sauces were deep and Rich.. definitely worth a stop

Yelp
Decent food, but too expensive for the quality. Not impressed with the owner. Small place so don't plan on a large group.

Yelp
If you are traveling near Stirling Scotland be sure to go here! Best Italian food! We back 2nd day for pizza! There were 6 in our group and everyone had a delicious meal!

Yelp
As someone with an Italian background that grew up with Italian cooking, my standards for Italian food are quite high -- it's hard to pass so-so Italian cooking by me! This restaurant definitely passed my standards. I loved the cozy inside ambiance, the staff was nice, and finally (the most important part) the food was very well made. If you want a taste of very high quality, home style Italian cooking, this would be a good place to check out. The owner says his vision is to make traditional food just like his "Mamma used to make", and they certainly do just that. Would certainly recommend.

Yelp
This was the most delicious Italian food I have had since arriving to Scotland 10 days ago. The pasta was homemade and melted in your mouth! I would highly recommend the lasagna. Service was impeccable . Bon appétit!

Dougall L.

Yelp
Cozy small Italian restaurant in Stirling. Ordered the lasagna and it was so good with amazing flavor. Husband had the house special, loved it. Dessert was a great way to end the dinner. Cheese cake and tiramisu.

Yelp
Loved Mamma Mia! Great atmosphere, with the most friendly servers who served us well. We felt very welcomed and a table was set up for us even though we didn't have a reservation. Our pasta and risotto was perfectly prepared, a lovely pairing of wine and the dessert was the best ending to our meal. We were never hurried and truly enjoyed our evening. Would highly recommend Mamma Mia!

Yelp
We had seen this restaurant as we were strolling along the streets of Stirling. It is really close to the Stirling Highland Hotel. After reading the other reviews we tried it. Thank you, Yelp. The food, service and ambience were A+. We had the special bruschetta to start with a bottle of Montepulciano d'Abruzzo-their house wine. This is a wine from a spectacular part of Italy. For mains we ordered three different pastas/l-all delicious, then shared tiramisu for dessert. Friendly service and wonderful evening.

Yelp
If you're reading this right now, GO TO THIS RESTAURANT. I'm honestly stunned this restaurant doesn't more reviews. It was fabulous - better than most of the Italian food we had on our trip to Italy. The service was wonderful (I believe all the staff were Italian), the atmosphere was cozy, the drinks were great, our meal was to die for (we both got gnocchi), and the dessert was a blessing. As someone who loves pasta a bit too much, I give this place 11/10! (Not sure about parking; we walked from our hotel.)

Yelp
Awesome place in an awesome town. We really loved Stirling and the area around it, and had seen this restaurant during our first passage a week earlier when it was unfortunately closed. But the second try was successfull and we were able to enjoy a stellar Italian dinner at this homely, friendly place just off the road to the Castle. They have amazing pasta's, very fine wine suggestions (they can tell you all about it) all ran with genuine Southern Italian charm and hospitality. Definitely worth it!

Yelp
This place is a gem! We visited Stirling Castle late in the day with two little American kids (5 and 2) who were starting to tire of British and Scottish fare. Mamma Mia was very friendly and accommodating, the service was excellent, and the food authentic and delicious (both the owner and chef are from Italy). Five stars.

Yelp
This restaurant was fantastic, the food was excellent, the atmosphere vibrant and the service was one of a kind. The owner/manager would attend to every table personally to greet the diners and explain each dish on the menu as well as the specialities of the day. All throughout the meal he would check that everything was going well and if you so wish would explain which regions in Italy the dishes were coming from and why they are so special. All in all an exceptional experience that I would recommend to anyone.

Yelp
By far the best Italian food I have ever tasted. Every bite was heaven! You can clearly see this food is prepared with love and care. Amazing!

Yelp
This was a total bummer. I don't understand why everyone is giving this such good marks. The Bruschetta I had a starter was just plain toast with somethings on top, it had nothing to do with Italian Bruschetta. For the main course I had a spaghetti which was very plain as well and barely "al dente" very under cooked, it was just spicy. My friend had the risotto with truffel oil, but there was absolutely no truffel flavor what so ever. The wine was the cheapest crap I've ever had and they ask a ridiculous £5.25 for it! The waiting staff was not friendly or enthusiastic at all. The ambiance was extremely fake and a total cliché. The hand towels in the toilet were missing, and it looked dirty and the toilet reservoir was leaking. I'm really sorry, but I can't give this anything better than 1 star. I really wished it was a better experience, especially after reading all the good reviews.

Yelp
Mama Mia's is a lovely wee Italian with great staff & amazing food. You can choose to sit outside as we did when the weather is nice (rare for Scotland). I would recommend this restaurant to any Italian food lover.

Yelp
Although a warm welcome is always given, the food is always freshly cooked and well presented, with attentive, friendly service - the pricing at Mama Mia has become disappointing. At nearly £18 for a seafood risotto (albeit beautifully cooked), this tops any restaurant even in Edinburgh or Glasgow. The waitress told us what desserts were available, and I opted for the Lemon Sorbet with Limoncello Cream Liqueur. While eating mine, I overheard another table of diners querying an item on their bill, for Limoncello Cream Liqueur priced £3, which was eventually removed from their bill. When I received my bill, I was shocked to find that my Lemon Sorbet was £4.10, with an extra £3 for the Limoncello Cream Liqueur - totalling over £7 for a sorbet dessert! At no point was it mentioned that the liqueur would be an extra cost - had it been, I would have preferred the sorbet without the liqueur, as it was very strong and overpowering. We ordered 2 double espressos to finish the evening, which turned out to be £2.85 each. Where in most restaurants and cafes, the price of a double espresso is normally 40 or 50p more than a single espresso - they had actually doubled the price. All in all, a very expensive evening. I felt that there should have been menus given out, detailing the dessert specials and coffee, so you are aware of what price you are paying before ordering. Great food, great atmosphere, great service, however terribly overpriced.

Yelp
This is a must visit but remember to book so as not to be disappointed. Small family run restaurant which serves food like mama used to make.

Yelp
This is the best restaurant I have been to while visiting the UK. The food is absolutely fantastic. The service was outstanding. I felt like everything I wanted or needed was there before I could think to ask for it. To be perfectly honest the service was so great I felt like royalty. Not to mention the ambience ....it was just perfect. If you are in Stirling or even close by.....GO. You will love it!!!

Yelp
LOVED this place! Terrific food, good wine, and absolutely fantastic service. The owner visited our table, told us his story, and was as friendly as could be. This was one of the most pleasant surprises of my entire trip to the UK...I wasn't looking for Italian cuisine in Scotland but I was thrilled to stumble upon this spot - and when I make it back to Stirling I'll be dining here again for sure!

Yelp
It looks teeny but you'll be surprised. - There's a second floor. The service was brilliant and the food was fast! I'd say it's a little pricey for the portion size but the food is certainly delicious. Main course wasn't enough (lovely beef and mozzarella cannelloni) so dessert was a must! The cheesecake (with mascerpone cheese and chocolate sauce) was heavenly. I'm not a huge cheesecake fan but it was just so yummy and light and the chocolate sauce was so rich. I'd say it's perfect for a date - very quaint and romantic. (How many days to get a significant other for Valentine's day?!) The decor is beautiful and me and my friend couldn't stop looking at the wall paintings, they were so lovely! If you want a sophisticated dinner then this is the perfect place! Bonus points for the handsome Italian waiters!

Yelp
The pasta was yum, and dessert was the best. Service was very friendly.

Yelp
We were in Scotland for ten days, on the seventh we found this place and it really saved our trip. We ate here the last three nights. The first night I started with the mussels and wished I had not ordered a main course they were so good I would have been happy to have had more bread to soak up the wonderful broth. This was almost like having a personal chef, they will go off menu and try to fix anything you want. Great restaurant, food, service and atmosphere. Tried to talk owner into moving to Dallas.

Bill S.

Yelp
A unique restaurant in Stirling just down from the castle. Real authentic Italian atmosphere and food which are both first class. The owner provides such a personal service and is totally attentive at all times. If you are in Stirling you must simply escape to italy by spending a couple of hours in Mama Mia.
