Where to Eat in London

"A landmark destination for anyone who knows their lattes from their flat whites. Located on Monmouth Street, this shop has been roasting coffee beans onsite since 1978. It’s a local favorite — something that’s easily noticed thanks to the constant queue that snakes around the corner. Despite the line, the wait is rarely too long.Where: 27 Monmouth St, London WC2H 9EU, United Kingdom" - MATADOR_NETWORK

The service is very nice here, but the food is just blah and for the price it's just not good. The lemonade is really good if you have a sweeter taste palate, but I wouldn't recommend. It's like a last resort for food and drinks if you can't think of any other place. I'm also not fond of the dog allowance policy where dogs are allowed to enter the cafe. Just a preference not to be around pets that aren't my own and food.

Google
Stopped by for a quick coffee and ended up grabbing a breakfast sandwich (egg and cheese, added vegetarian sausage) on the ciabatta. Legitimately one of the better breakfast sandwiches I've had in a while. Bread was great, a TON of egg, sausage was tasty, and cheese was perfectly melted. Everything was well seasoned. And a solid cold brew to boot. Extremely friendly staff and good vibe. Will definitely make a point to stop by again the next time I'm in the neighborhood.

This place simply rules. Immediately upon walking in there's a warmth from the staff most immediately, but the actual cafe itself is biiig cozy. Sidebar: super sick how they have art all on the walls drawn by kids. Real cute honestly. I ordered a bacon egg and cheese on ciabatta with vegan bacon and while waiting had an awesome time kicking it with the owners. They're both huge chillers of the warmest caliber, and I'm just a dude who stopped in because he was hungry. This is long, but I promise I'm of sound mind, I just firmly believe that anyone in the area should stop in for some insanely delicious made to order sandwiches, smoothies, coffee, pastries, or whatever to experience this local gem. Also immediately got the vibe that it's probably a safe and fun space for alt/queer/punks (kind punks to be precise) anyone who's cool and not a shithead. TLDR They left a major impression after my first visit, and it's a joy to stumble upon such a great local business. I hope they stick around for a long ass time, and I also hope you check em out. Ill definitely be back. Thanks guys!

Google
Checked this place out today. They have a good breakfast menu, fresh pastries and excellent coffee. The barista was friendly and the vibe was chill.

Google
Look, this place don't play!!! All are welcome! Just enter, order your food and be on your way!!! If you dine, you might eat twice. Yes! The their breakfast is superb.

Google

Google
Really good coffee and the breakfast sandwich with the vegan sausage was pretty good. It also has a nice decor and is very clean.

Google
Local coffee jawn is the GO TO for tasty coffee, scrumptious eats, and very friendly baristas. My (and me pup Luna's) favorite place to start the day :)

Yelp
This is a cute, very small and quirky coffee shop. Easy to miss along the sprawling street of Spring Garden but worth a quick stop for a pastry and a quick cup. The staff are the reason to keep coming back! They were so friendly and sweet. Truthfully not the best nor the worst coffee in the area, but this is the kind of cafe you support because it feels good to know your local businesses, they're affordable, and they're close by!

Yelp
Nice neighborhood coffee shop. I passed this place several times but never had the opportunity to order. Mostly this place was closed due to limited hours. So note the hours before coming in. Anyways, super friendly people. They let my pup come in. They have variety of coffee and matcha and some bakery goods. We ordered matcha Latte and customized it with syrup of Rose and Pistachio. The taste was very nice. I had the same drink at One Shot before, but this place was better. And from a price standpoint, it's slightly cheaper than One Shot. Bakery good were nice. The kid loved it. Overall, I would recommend this place if you are around and craving some nice coffee. PS: They had great Vietnamese Coffee, so hopefully they will bring it back.

Yelp
So many amazing vegan and veggie options! However, it is expensive!! We only come here every couple months since the prices are $10 for an egg and cheese with NO add ons and the coffee is $5. Inside there isn't much seating, but they have lots of cute decor and quirky items.

Yelp
Really cool place. The storefront appears really run down and is easy to miss, but in my opinion only adds to the ambiance of the cafe. I even think the graffitied sign out front adds a sense of intrigue to it and embraces its location, in a way. The interior is super cool, sort of cabin-rustic. The music is an appropriate volume and matches the vibe well. The lady working here when I went was kind, welcoming, and quick. The menu is extensive and has something for everyone. The two workers here were also serving and conversing with a couple construction workers from outside, which was nice to see. Not too much space to sit, but enough for a couple people catching up or someone going to do some work. I got an everything bagel with cream cheese and it was great! The bagel itself was a good size though not as fluffy as some others I've had. The cream cheese was so fluffy and very abundant, which is important to me. They are also very transparent about prices here! They list prominently the price of everything, including sides and add-ons. They even listed prices of refrigerated drinks, so you won't be fooled by the prices at all, and they're super reasonable. Something cute was that they had drawings by kids on one of the walls, and they were priced by the kids (one was $1000), which is just a cute little detail. Great experience, would go again!

Yelp
Small coffee shop on Girard with vegetarian and vegan options. Tried the egg breakfast sandwich on a bagel, which was something different, but the flavor was alright. Americano and coffee is standard, and the matcha latte here is a good flavor. They also have other muffins, breads and treats to go with your coffee.

Yelp
Had a latte and it was delicious. Ate a vegan bacon egg and cheese on a everything bagel and it tasted great too. I'm not vegan but I like it! The bagel was really really good!

Yelp
Don't waste your time so many other better coffee places in this area to go to this place is terrible. Would rather go to a 7/11 than mammoth coffee
google avatar

Kaysie B.

Yelp
Would give a three star because it only has steps so when I went to bring in my stroller I needed help & I I'm giving four stars because the owner was kind enough to help me lift my stroller up the steps. I got an iced coffee that I didn't like at all but they had a lot of other good treats!
google avatar

Benjamin S.

Yelp
Best coffee in philly!! They also have a bunch of vegan stuff, and decent breakfast sandwiches. The coffee is really awesome though
google avatar

Latavia H.

Yelp
They have been consistent open on time. To my surprise they have also expanded their vegan food/pastry option. The Oreo Cheesecake bites melt in your mouth.

Yelp
This is a cute coffee shop with a lot of personality. I ordered the hummus and cheddar cheese sandwich with sriacha on a ciabatta. It was very tasty. Alongside it I ordered a fluffer nutter latte. It had hints of peanut butter and marshmallow without being overpowering. Definitely a neat place. Bathrooms are nice

Yelp
Been loving this Fishtown coffee spot. Very unassuming but great chai, interesting sandwich choices, and unpretentious pricing. Rotating donut flavors from Dotties. Counter chicks are super friendly and I've had a laugh every time I've been in. A few tables and even a printer for those looking to camp out and get work done too.
google avatar

Yelp
Great coffee spot with amazing service. Went for the Print with Me service and grabbed some coffee. Will definitely be back for some coffee and donuts.
google avatar

Danit H.

Yelp
This little coffee shop is perfect for vegan and animal lovers. Its dogs friendly and they have so many vegan options. I was able to work quietly for few hours, the barista kept filling up my cup with fresh coffee, I couldn't ask for more!

Ashley G.

Yelp
Food is subpar, coffee is pretty good but low rating because how do you open a coffee shop but not open before 8?
google avatar

Alex L.

Yelp
Walking in, I had quite low expectations due to the outside and location but I was pleasantly surprised! This place is budget friendly, vegan friendly, and perfect for studies! They have a printer available for people who really need to get things done as well. They allow dogs inside which is AMAZING. Anyways, they offer too much for this place to not be booming yet! AWESOME.

Nate P.

Yelp
Got a loaded bagel with veggie cream cheese. One of the best bagels ove had. Fresh and tasty. Gonna go back so much!

Yelp
This is my new happy place. I spent the last couple of days here doing work and enjoying all sorts of delicious offerings. Their coffee is great, and I had a lovely latte as well (plus a cappuccino, a chai latte, and my boyfriend had an iced tea and Vietnamese coffee... I was there a long time!!) And their food... just delicious! Between the baked goods (I had a vegan banana chocolate chip doughnut to die for) and the sandwiches they're rolling out... utterly delightful. They have great options for vegetarians and vegans, and prices are great! They are also friendly, and super patient... I stayed there forever, and they were so accommodating. Also, they have wifi, and it's not too loud! I'm 100% sold. It makes doing work so much more tolerable, and that's not just the caffeine. Thanks Mammoth Coffee! So glad you're in the neighborhood!!

Yelp
Cute little coffee shop right around the corner from my friends apt. Have yet to try the food, but the espressos is on point. Will definitely be coming back for more coffee & will update my review after I try their food. Okay- so the food wasn't as great as we hoped. We have only tried the bagels and they are just not good. They freeze their bagels which might be the reason why. Staff couldn't be more friendly and helpful though!

Dizzy W.

Yelp
I like this place a lot and would give it 5 stars most likely if they improved 2 things. The drip coffee is meh, but their iced coffee and espresso drinks are great! I don't know why the regular coffee is not great, get a different blend? Bagels are huge and filling w/your favorite vegan options. Baristas are chill, cool people coming in and out and a decent place in the neighborhood to chat with your neighbors. But I would really love some comfy chairs like a couch etc. It's just barstools and tables, even Starbucks has better options. This is the main reason I end up not going. Still trying to find my local coffee hang place, really surprised not a good option in this area.

Yelp
I hardly ever post reviews but I just had to because this is my new favorite coffee place! A little hidden but its well worth it once you find it! The service is amazing and the price is so good. Only $6.24 for a bagel and iced coffee. Highly highly recommend!!! Also the bagels are delicious!!!

Yelp
I love this place! Coffee is delicious, it's unpretentious, reasonably priced, and offers vegan/vegetarian options. Ambiance is very cute and the owners seem to take pride in their shop and enjoy what they do. They make everything in house including their honey so it can be made vegan.
google avatar

Lisa C.

Yelp
This is my go-to place. The staff is nice and I can always get them to mix me a yummy flavored coffee. The vegan cookies and other sweets are very good.

Laura B.

Yelp
I walked to get lunch at 1:10 and there was a sign that said back at 1:15. so i waited 10 minutes and finally someone showed up and said "do you need something?" i said yes i was waiting to order. she said we're closed. why would you put a sign up to say when you were coming back to close? why does yelp say closes at 5? she was incredibly rude to me for no reason. also this isn't the first time they have been closed during the open hours on here, they were closed more than an hour after it said they opened a week ago. the website says closes at 3, which means they should still be open at 1:20 pm even if they have reduced hours right now.
google avatar

Paiea K.

Yelp
Sandwiches were great. Coffee is coffee but it is a cute breakfast spot. Def would go again doe some quick efficient healthy breakfast.
google avatar

Krissy G.

Yelp
Great little coffee shop, with good chai tea lattes! Atmosphere is cozy and good for studying/reading as well. Reasonably priced too!
google avatar

Yelp
Great coffee place! It's a great new addition to the northern liberties area. The staff is very friendly and welcoming. Every time I come here they are very attentive and kind.
google avatar

Daniel S.

Yelp
Walking in, I was pleasantly surprised by the quaintness of this cafe. From the outside, it appears to be a hole in the wall coffee fix, yet the inside is nicely done with a hip menu. Their food is delicious, with multiple vegan items to choose from. They also regularly have Dottie's Donuts which is a plus for me!
google avatar

Yelp
Saw this place pop up on my Facebook and I am always interested in trying a nee coffee spot. I went here yesterday and I very much enjoyed the place. As soon as yoy walk in, you're greeted with a friendly hello from the staff. I decided to just go for a coffee and bagel with cream cheese. The coffee was really good. It was not too strong nor weak. It is also nice they have a bottomless cup option in case you want to sit and stay. This is a nice and relaxing coffee shop that I hope to return to soon.

troy c.

Yelp
This place sucks. The coffee is expensive, taste like crap and is no where near la columbe caliber (who charges the same for large black coffee). I don't know how this place is still open because everything here is terrible. I live across the street and only come here for emergency caffeine injections. Also the ambiance is terrible and unwelcoming, i'd never spend more than 10 minutes in this dump. I'm legit upset this is my neighborhood coffee shop option.
google avatar

Jeff J.

Yelp
Great coffee shop that isn't La Colombe. Don't get get me wrong LC is great but when everyone is using it then you don't get to try something different. Mammoth is high quality and very friendly. This new shop will be my recommendation to people moving to the area.
google avatar

Wendy G.

Yelp
Such a great little place! I had a fantastic pistachio-matcha donut (vegan, no less) and a well-made latte. The shop is very comfortable and welcoming -- a nice space to hang out in. I'm looking forward to trying more of the menu!

Alex S.

Yelp
This shop looked cute online but was quite the disappointment. We arrived around 1pm on a Sunday and ordered sandwiches. There was only one woman working so service was extremely slow. It took about 30 minutes to receive 4 simple sandwiches, that were overpriced in my opinion. While our order was being prepared, the worker told me that they did not have two of the three ingredients in the sandwich I got. I swapped for another, that also had missing ingredients. Additionally, the setup of the shop was very odd. If you order a bottled beverage you help yourself to the item in the fridge, leaving room for error to forget to get it. There is also minimal seating. I would definitely not return.
google avatar

Lily S.

Yelp
Love this place and the employees and art but their bagels just aren't the best quality or freshest tasting and their breakfast sammiches are lacking and skimpy in toppings (cream cheese, veggies etc) and the eggs are just kind of rubbery and gross because they don't have a panini press or George Forman grill or anything to properly cook an egg just a microwave and the tiny amount of egg and cheese you get for a big dry bagel is kind of ridiculous. Maybe I've been spoiled by living downtown and in West philly and near Milkcrate. Sadly there's just nothing there for me to eat I enjoy, I would rather eat a breakfast sandwich from any lunch cart or diner or any other cafe in town. But that doesn't stop me from going here for cold brew. Two larges will run you $7-8 bucks with tip which isn't cheap but their coffee is excellent. Two bagels w cream cheese and two iced coffees is like $20 w tip so it's not the cheapest place for being pretty bare bones not super delicious and kind of mediocre. I know I'm gonna sound like a total heathen but I prefer the bagels at Dunkin. Maybe mammoth's are vegan. Still idk I really just love the staff and vibe here, it's cozy and friendly and not pretentious.

Kaelynn H.

Yelp
Giving five stars because everything I've gotten there has been good! Very friendly staff. Sometimes they are slow, but I know it takes time to become a fast barista and the store hasn't been open that long.

Money Lane V.

Yelp
Had a great experience today. Its a very clean place, also very nice staff. They work pretty fast as well virtually no wait at all. And cant forget the food was great.
google avatar

Kelly C.

Yelp
I've been going here before work for coffee and a bagel somewhat regularly for a couple months. Most of the time everything is great. One day there was a sign up on the door that said "be back in 5 minutes" I thought this was weird because it was 8:15 am and probably not the best time to take a break at a coffee shop but whatever stuff happens. I've now seen that sign on three occasions. Today the staff was putting it up as I was walking in and agreed to take my order before leaving. The bagel I ordered had hardly any CC and wasn't cut. I work in the industry too and my boss would kill me if I regularly left at peak times to do who knows what. I won't be going here before work anymore but it's a cute shop and I will possibly return on the weekends.

Colleen C.

Yelp
I go to coffee shops for coffee. I'm a coffee shop junkie and regularly go to Mammoth. The quality of the coffee is superb and has a very distinct, delicious taste (iced or hot). My favorite barista (the one with the bright hair!) makes an absolutely killer latte. It's a small space, but ample seating is available. This is one of my go-to stops for caffeine when I'm in the neighborhood.

Tim S.

Yelp
So they got swamped with 4 orders, all involving a microwave, even the "grilled" cheese with egg. Half my order was forgotten. The part of my order that they didn't forget was done wrong and it wasn't worth waiting another ten minutes for a corrected loaded bagel. I even paid an extra dollar for avocado that wasn't put on. I mean the food wasn't bad once I got it but still was not worth it. Also two of there whopping 13 chairs were taken up with employees belongings....like why?

Dan W.

Yelp
Very good Chai Latte and scone. Also was a nice space to hang out and read a book. Very friendly staff took good care of me. Will very likely come back.
google avatar

Dylan P.

Yelp
mammoth sure is great, I tell you. the employee Austin is very friendly, probably too friendly, but that's okay by me. he showed me where the bathroom was with ease. the sinks work great in there. i wanted to leave him a pretty big tip, but instead I just didn't. that's okay, I'll be back.

Jessica W.

Yelp
I've stopped by a number of times for coffee and a bagel. I'm always greeting with a warm and friendly welcome. The coffee, bagels, and donuts are always great. So happy to have them in the neighborhood!

Melinda C.

Yelp
I really want to like this place. The coffee is fine and the bagels are good. Some of the staff are okay. Today marks the second occasion where I've been here in the early afternoon and the staff and/or staff's friends have been extremely loud and using really inappropriate language. I'm not averse to cursing, but maybe keep it down a bit? Sure, there weren't a lot of people in here, but I don't think I'm the only one who doesn't want to be interrupting by yelling when I'm trying to enjoy a coffee and get some work done.
