Fabulous time here today! About 20 of us! A great time had by all! Nice spring conditions. Tails were groomed well. Lifts moved fast. Such an epic day!

One of the best resort to ski or hike in altitude north of LA. Between 4 and 5 hours drive from LA, these mountains are a fantastic getaway destination either for ski in the winter or splendid hikes during the summer. Winters can be pretty packed so if you can try to favor off-peak times. Summer is definitely less crowded and it’s one of the best kept secret for long hikes and breathtaking views.

Google
I've been coming to Mammoth in winter and summer as a small child. The mountain has amazing scenery and great snow. I highly recommend a visit for anyone that hasn't been. The only reason I would not give 5 stars is because of what they have done with the Ikon pass. It is no longer fun to go during the weekend, it's just way to over crowded and your stuck waiting in line more than on the slopes unless you have a black pass. That said, mid week it's empty and a great time

Google
Great place to for spring skiing! No lines and a lots of different levels of terrain !

Kyle Cowan

Google
Great in both winter and summer! So much to do...trails, waterfalls, boating, skiing, hot springs 😀

Google
Great place to stay, rooms are well kept and clean. Lots of lifts within walking distance of lodge and a couple down the road. A nice restaurant and general store inside. Heated pool and spa as well. Very friendly and polite staff

Google
Great ski resort! Went in late January and mid June and had a blast both times, never thought I’d be able to ski in the summer! The views are amazing and it has plenty of terrain for all rider levels.

Watch the documentary about Dave & Roma McCoy family on Mammoth Mountain. We are fortunate they pioneered this place when they did. The environmentalist's wouldn't allow something like this to be built today. Thank you McCoys! I try to only go here during off-season. I would have given it five stars if it wasn't so crowded. I started going here in the mid '60s. I have lots of fond memories skiing & backpacking in the '60s and '70s. I only lived here for 20 months but it seemed like 20 years. So may great memories. I miss the quaintness of the town & the friendly locals back then. It's been well discovered and they have built it up nicely. Parts of it reminds me of a European town in the mountains. I would tell you about all the amazing things to do in this town but it would take a book. Go there and you will not be disappointed except by the crowds, over fishing, and some of the costs but that's to be expected here in California.

Yelp
During our visit over Thanksgiving weekend, we found that only one restaurant was open, and unfortunately, several items from their menu were unavailable. Mammoth Mountain is a fantastic destination for beginner skiers, offering a range of gentle slopes and well-groomed runs. For those just starting out, we recommend Schoolyard, a perfect spot with wide, gentle slopes ideal for practicing skiing skills. While Palisades Tahoe earned its title as 'California's largest ski resort' by combining Olympic Valley and Alpine Meadows, Mammoth Mountain surpasses it in terms of elevation and snow coverage. Mammoth tends to receive more snow and offers more open terrain than its Lake Tahoe counterparts. Although Palisades Tahoe has a total slope length of 200 km, Mammoth Mountain stands out as one of the best resorts, particularly for late spring and early summer skiing. Its snow farming operation is considered the best in North America, and they salt the runs, which helps prevent the snow from becoming too sticky during warmer weather. For the best savings, it's advisable to purchase Mammoth lift tickets at least seven days in advance through the resort's website. You can also find discounted lift tickets at select Costco locations during the season. Mammoth Mountain boasts the highest lift-served summit in California, reaching an impressive 11,053 feet. It is known as the leading four-season mountain resort in the state, offering year-round lodging and a wide range of outdoor activities. Compared to other major ski resorts in North America, Mammoth is not one of the most expensive. For example, a day pass at Vail in Colorado can cost as much as $175, making Mammoth a more affordable option for many skiers. The resort justifies its higher price tag in part due to the extensive maintenance of family and terrain parks across the mountain. An interesting tidbit: for the past 20 years, 63-year-old Vince has called the top of the Panorama Gondola his home. As the official gondola caretaker and operator at 11,000 feet in the Sierra Nevada, Vince lives alone among the elements in the gondola building. Mammoth Mountain also caters to expert skiers, with 60 percent of its terrain rated as difficult to extremely difficult, offering challenging runs for seasoned athletes.

Yelp
Mammoth ski area always gets a good amount of snow early season. There's snow is a bit wetter than Utah's.. but the terrain are amazing! They could improve on the food... most of the mountain serve cafeteria style food and taste. I had a bowl of chili, which was a bit bland like cafeteria food. Most restaurants in Mammoth are a bit expensive. The only corporate franchise they have here is Starbucks.. overall, skiing is awesome. Staff are accommodating... I stayed at the Austria Hof hotel, which I will also review.

Yelp
My partner and I recently visited Mammoth (my first time) and it was so much fun, I am in love with this resort. Can't wait to be back. The conditions were fantastic; fresh powder, clear skies, and perfect temperatures for a full day on the slopes. We were impressed by the variety of runs available, catering to all skill levels, and the lifts were efficient, meaning we spent more time boarding and less time waiting. Whether you're a beginner or an expert, there's something for everyone here. We were able to explore different areas of the resort all day long, and the scenery was absolutely stunning. All in all, it was an unforgettable experience, and we can't wait to return!

Yelp
Went and bought the insurance through their tickets for me to be only told that they're not gonna cover because they had two lifts open and that the roads were clear if you were a 4 x 4 with chains so it's just a giant money grab just like all of Alterra's resorts. It was a waste. Better off going to Mountain high or smaller resorts. You also don't have to wait in those massive lines that the employees give zero effs about.

Kc K.

Yelp
Everytime I come here they delay operations or there are massive lines (often +1hr wait times) at the lower lifts. This time 2/13/25 we drove 5hrs to get there because of the fresh snow, paying $500 per night for lodging, rented a 4x4, paid $250 lift tickets and yet Mammoth is closed Friday, delayed operations on Saturday and expecting massive lines. 1. Get your shit together. All other ski resorts are open in tahoe 2. You get more and more people per year yet dont expand lifts to accommodate causing massive lines 3. At the very least. Answer your phones. Update your website (all the runs say they are open so people arrive at 8am and have to sit in their car for hours not knowing what the hell is going on Fuck this place

Yelp
This resort is huge for skiing and snowboarding! There's lots of routes for the beginners to the experts. I appreciate that there's a discounted lift pass for just the beginner routes (4 lifts). They are in different spots though so you'll need to use the shuttle to get around. The resort is really organized and lots of amenities available like seating, heated areas, and bathrooms.

Yelp
Surprised Yelp didn't have Canyon Lodge listed already. I've been going to Mammoth across the better part of 2 decades and this is the newer and nicer lodge, by far. Higher ceilings, large sunny windows, escalators friendly for boots and gear, a bigger Mammoth shop, rental shop, ski school, lockers, cafeteria, rooftop seating and a hopping outdoor bar where a DJ hosts a million young dancers still in snow gear. The parking, though still terrible, is much better laid out in a larger expanse. As it was built more recently, they perhaps had more foresight in making the lot larger than Main Lodge. But still not big enough... You'll still trek uphill for a long walk even when you get here before the slopes open. Take the bus or gondola... The Canyon Lodge is one of the main entry points onto the mountain, the better route if you want to avoid the slow traffic winding down the wee little forest road of Main Lodge. You won't want to need the bathroom while stuck in this line at the end of the day. 7 lifts and the Village Gondola originate from Canyon Lodge. The Village Gondola operated from the lodge through a scenic ride to the town's village (shopping and restaurant area). The area surrounding includes quite the selection of short-term rentals, condos, airbnb, etc. The shuttle will take you to the shops (including grocery store, pharmacy, hotels) further out the main drag of the town. The town is little so the shuttle doubles back soon enough.

Yelp
Had the best time this past Presidents day weekend! Extra shout out to Scar Scott and Urban at the snowmobiles Scar her professionalism and getting our rebooking easily and painless and to Patricia up at museum, she was full of information.

Yelp
Still the best mountain in Cali hands down. I'm a season pass holder and love it here. Downside is the lift ticket prices continue to increase. Lots of terrain for different skill levels. They've recently upgraded the Canyon Lift and it's a state of the art 6 man chair. They definitely need to upgrade chair 25 next! You can park at Main Lodge and go all the way up the mountain, the Village and take the gondola up, Canyon Lodge or Eagle. Lots of options but get there early as the lots fill up and you may have to park away from the lot and take a shuttle. It's about a 4 1/2 hour drive from LA and yes it's worth it.

Yelp
You have to know how to navigate Mammoth... It's a fantastic resort that will please all levels. Here are my tips... Get there when they open. Check the app and when they open upper lifts, go and stay there...22, 23, 25, High Five Express, 9, Upper Gondola if that's your thing...check the map for your level. When they open 12, 13, 14, these are great chairs usually with less lines, 14 has the most line usually. Also where 13 and 14 are on the backside is a great place for a break and a good lunch spot but it has to not be snowing bc it's outside. If you want a good lunch place with tons of options-McCoy station. It's a great place to meet your group especially if you get separated from each other. Tip for McCoy...sit downstairs it's more seating usually and games to play as well as the least crowded bathrooms (ugh I almost don't want to write that last part lol. Keep it between us). Even though I love all the runs off the Eagle Chairlift...I would avoid it, you can get stuck there for a long time and it can make you cranky. Exception is on a weekday. Then Eagle your heart away . If you love just playing around...to the right of canyon there is Schoolyard Express and to the right of that another chair with usually fun jumps setup. When my kids were smaller and wanted to go with their friends I would have them go on those chairs or Chair 8 so they wouldn't get lost. Oh and in the morning--Roller Coaster can be great. There's a park next to it and it tends to get busy as the day goes on.

Yelp
I have skied all around Colorado, Utah and Wyoming but Mammoth is something else! Firstly, bcuz it's just driving distance to LA! With minimal planning, you are in perfect snow! The town is very chill and everything is just walking distance, and eventhough they get amazing snow, the distance from LA to 10 miles to the town is pretty dry and safe, so no crazy mountain drive. The lifts are fast, and slopes are always amazing, it can get windy on top but its mostly great. The restaurants are fast, and pretty good for ski resorts food.

Yelp
Stunning! I live in Michigan and generally barely know how to ski, but have somehow made it out to Mammoth twice and have loved each experience. There are multiple lodges/bases around the mountain, and there are lifts and runs for every kind of skier. For a beginner like me, there are plenty of beautiful and fun green runs. There's a good Mammoth app that I recommend downloading for a trip here, as it conveniently provides a live status of weather, open lifts and run, maps, information about food and drink, and a lot more. If for some reason you get hurt or need help, there's a button to call Mammoth emergency ski patrol and send your coordinates as well. Mammoth and the area surrounding also has a pretty convenient free shuttle services that will take you between the ski area and town and between some of the lodge/base areas. There's a cute village area too with shops and bars/restaurants.

Yelp
I recently visited the resort and, unfortunately, had an experience that didn't meet expectations. While the service was efficient and the establishment seemed well-maintained, I encountered an interaction with a staff member that came across as unprofessional and dismissive and even racist toward my group. Female instructor accused us of "trying to pull a fast one" on them when we had paid for passes. This was around 1:20pm today. She was degrading and disrespectful. She pulled quit the power trip with us!

Yelp
I got persuaded to join some friends for skiing. I had never had the pleasure of partaking in this sport. The people were professional fitting me into boots and selecting my ski size. Thoughts such as "Well 31 is a long and good life." And "These white people are crazy and trying to kill me." Was a thought I had after a number of falls on the bunny slopes. Eventually I got better and made it down the bunny slopes. It was quite the Adrenaline Rush that few other experiences can replicate it

Yelp
Mammoth is downright awesome! I love skiing and when I first heard of this place, I had no idea what to expect but the results were insane. The snow quality is amazing, there are amazing panoramic views from every mountain and there is something for everyone. There are green trails many areas and double blacks for experts. It is big and includes a whole backside. Mammoth is awesome so make sure to put it next on your bucket list!!!

Yelp
I have been to Mammoth Mountain for decades; the experience changes from time to time as they change staffing a lot. One thing is for sure, there instructor are amazing! The young, the old, and everyone in between are 5-Star and worth every penny. CHILD GROUP LESSONS: My child had Maya one day and Abigail another day. He really enjoyed his 5-hour lesson! They were both supportive and made it fun; they listened to me as I explained his skill level and experience on the mountain. I am so grateful to them. My son picked up snowboarding and loves it! ADULT GROUP LESSONS: On Wednesday, Dec 11th, I had a group class with an AMAZING Instructor, Sarah Monsalve. Returning to skis after snowboarding for a decade and a terrible crash in Park City, I just wasn't able to ski again. The legend, Suzanne Nottingham got me back in the game last year with a lesson but I needed to refresh again this year. That's where Sarah came in. She was patient, kind and professional. She told me exactly what I needed to succeed and excel back into intermediate skiing. Thank you to both incredible women! LIFT OPERATORS: The lift operators often do not pay attention. I saw a child almost get crushed because they fell when getting off and we were all screaming for help, but no, they were not paying attention. Very important for safety to better train on the importance of paying attention. And thank you! ON-MOUNTAIN SIGNAGE: The on-mountain signage is not consistent. There is a sign that says "back to chair 4 and back to village" but it also leads back down to the chair you just rode. The signs should say what the trail map says so no one makes wrong turns. I was with someone that accidentally made a turn onto a black diamond for the same reason. Overall, Mammoth is a great experience. They care so much for the runs and you can enjoy yourself all day!

Yelp
I've been coming to Mammoth Mountain for 15 years now and it's by far the best ski resort in California. I've skied many different resorts all over the world and the terrain that Mammoth Mountain offers is unmatched. They truly have runs for every skill level and some of the most gorgeous views ever! Lodging and food at the resort is expensive but overall worth it. Mammoth will always have a special place in my heart!
google avatar

Mor S.

Yelp
This is my home mountain and I am not ashamed to say it. This is the best mountain in California, and although it is very windy at times and there are too many people, it still takes the cake. One suggestion would be to do reservations on ikon pass to help with reducing the number of people on the mountain. The food at the lodges are decent as well, and the ikon early ups are always a blast.

Yelp
If you want to learn how to ski or snowboard, this is definitely the best mountain to go to! After going to Big Bear, I wanted to make a trip out here to not only get better, but also experience fresh powder. I'm still learning how to snowboard, but after going to Mammoth, I think I improved a lot! There were so many mountains at all skill levels, so you'll surely find one best suited for you. At the time I went, there was a snow blizzard the day before, so there was so much fresh powder, which softened my fall. Also, I really liked Mammoth because their mountains are a lot longer than Big Bear's, which gives you more room to practice. This has been one of the most fun snowboarding trips this year. I highly recommend anyone who loves the snow to come here. Everyone is so nice and has great energy. Such a fun experience!

Yelp
f you think about visiting Mammoth lakes. I advise you not to take the snowmobile tour. Almost one year ago (January 26 ,2023)I had a very serious accident during my trip. I broke both arms, ribs and several bruises on my body. My aunt fractured her pelvis, ruptured her bladder and aorta artery, several broken ribs as well... we were at imminent risk of death. After a long time waiting for help, the guide, without any first aid training, put us at risk with inappropriate behavior... We were dragged down the mountain to the base.. and taken to the hospital by ambulance. .. We still have physical consequences from the accident today, and I have never received any assistance from the company. . So, I leave here the story of my terrible experience... so that other people don't go through this. And that we are only alive because of God. Think before buying the tour.. zero for this place .

Yelp
A weekend well spent at the best ski/snowboarding mountain in California! I spend several weekends a year snowboarding here and just love the terrain. The coverage here is quite good throughout the season. This weekend was the busiest I've ever seen with crazy long lines. Lots of snow impacts the lifts and also brings riders to the mountain. The ticket prices have gone up drastically, but by the amount of people out there it must not be a big deal. There are several lodges to stop at throughout the day. McCoy, being in the middle of the mountain is usually my go to for a break and quick bite with The Mill a close 2nd based on location. Although there is a decent amount of parking, lots are always full early on weekends or days right after a storm. Luckily there us a great bus system that runs around town, to various parking lots and to the base lodges to catch lifts.

Yelp
Time for an update, as my last was not stellar. Somehow, they have were able to remain open through tough times during Covid. Customer service has improved and most people are paying attention. Still one of the resorts with the most varied terrain and challenging trails in the Sierra Nevada Mountains. There are some hidden gems in this resort that I have found since my prior review. The Outpost continues to be my favorite spot to break, but I keep finding new ways down. Ski hard, folks.

Yelp
My daughter, grandson and myself went to Mammoth to have lunch, do some activities, and shop. We've eaten at the Yodler Restaurant in the past and ate there again because it's good and mainly the only one there. It has a European design and feel to it. We ordered cheeseburgers and fries and they were very good. They have a lot of activities for adults and kids. You can take a gondola ride up the mountain, bean bag toss, pan fir gems, go on an obstacle course, rent bikes and a track for kids to ride electric bikes. You can also take the bus to devils post pile and other places down the hill, it's beautiful area.
google avatar

Yelp
The best ski area in California, period! A huge amount of different terrain and experiences, and they are spending A LOT of money renovating the lodges for a better experience. Customer service is fantastic, and they are great with my kids in ski lessons.

Yelp
Had a great time at Mammoth, Great views from the gondolas, all the staff there was courteous. Very family oriented resort. Easy to get lost I believe. Definitely coming back!!!

Yelp
So Went for a week to mammoth huge skiing area I would say the lift operation are super lazy and un friendly They don't do any kind of organizing in lines or cleaning snow off chairs. also really disappointed in the food McCoy station only had hamburgers saying they don't care to open fresh food options only on weekends So greedy of the corporation not to give healthy options. Ski patrol would not help with information they just told us to find someone with a yellow ! on there jacket. I was out first time at Mammoth so many be that's just how they operate Still the skiing is good
google avatar

Yelp
I wasn't thrilled to this place it's more of a tourist trap. Very very overpriced for a family of four The gondola ride is cute. But once up on the mountain it's a total tourist trap. I'm gonna give you some advice. If you're gonna charge $19 for panning for rocks, Make sure you don't have the lady behind you filling the rocks up making it look SO fake. Cute concept just overpriced.

Yelp
Absolutely lives up to the hype. One of the best mountain in Cali hands down. I'm a season pass holder and love it here. Downside is the lift ticket prices continue to increase. But there is so much terrain to conquer. Lots of runs for different skill levels. Wide open runs, narrow trails, trails through the trees just lots of options. They blow on certain trails but Mother Nature provides the fluffy stuff all the time. They have a variety of 2 person, 4 person, and even a 6 person chairs. They've recently upgraded Canyon Lodge and added escalators, upgraded the locker room and restrooms. Cool place to hang out for lunch although it gets pretty packed. Good place to park cause it's the middle of the mountain but you need to get there earlier or pay for preferred parking which is pricey. The downside is that more than half the parking is preferred parking so you have to pay $30. Tons of choices to eat and great shops at the different lodges throughout the mountain. For those not wanting to hit the mountain, there's the village which has shops and restaurants. There's a gondola which takes you up to Canyon Lodge. If you want to continue to drive up you'll be at Main Lodge. You can also catch the gondola from there both ti ski or board and also if you just want a scenic ride to the top. .

Yelp
Mammoth is by far the best skiing in CA hands down. I've skied nearly every resort in CA and nothing beats this mountain, it's diverse terrain, and it's management. I grew up skiing on this mountain and it still brings back lots of nostalgic memories for me. Wooly the Mammoth is still around brightening up kids' days. the lines are efficient (although can get long at times) and the staff are always helpful and friendly. the groomers are nice and long and well maintained. there are a good amount of blue/black runs and of course the double black for the more adventurous. The green runs are nice, long, and open - perfect for any beginner. Not only that, the Village has lots of great restaurants, bars, and shopping and downtown main street is a great mix of new, old, and mom and pop shops. there's a little bit of everything for everyone. I bought my last pair of skis and boots in town from a shop we used to rent skis from as kids. they're still around! Get to your slopes early if you want any chance of free parking that's not super far away. Or if you can swing it, pay for parking - although i find it very expensive! Lastly, the free shuttles around town are perfect if you're not an early riser. The last time we visited earlier this season, the lifts were closed for the majority of the day due to high winds. it opened up for 2 hours and we got some epic runs in and had the mountain all to ourselves! The crew here really prioritizes safety and I trust their judgement when it comes to starting/stopping the lifts due to weather. Highly recommend the trip to Mammoth - it's worth the drive!

Yelp
Stayed at an Airbnb 10-15 minutes away. Saturday Feb 5 was POPPIN' compared to Sunday (functioning at maybe 25% capacity of Sat for reference). Got to the ski area around 7:50AM and was able to find free parking along the street, though it was already 50%-75% full or so on Saturday morning. Got to the Canyon lodge for rentals just as they opened and there was a short line outside, but I was VERY impressed at how streamlined each station was: 1. Filling out the waiver: took like 5 minutes for a party of 5. Pay online/ahead of time so you don't have to get in a different line to do so. 2. Boot Rental: Employee directs you to a chair, measures your foot, then quickly gets you boots that don't squeeze your big toe too much and helps you buckle them on if needed. Another 5 minutes or so. 3. Ski and Board Rental: 6-8 stations of experienced bros/gals that call you up and help 2 people at a time to do quick maintenance on the skis and make sure they're a good size to your height. Provided helmets and poles too. Took maybe 10 minutes. PRICE: - Ski Rental ~$70 - Helmet ~$20 - Beginner Lift Tix ~$91 - Locker (big enough for 5 adult shoes) ~$15 As a second time skier, was pretty nervous, but there's plenty of space for a beginner to traverse and practice. Snow wasn't too soft but not too hard either for a ~30 degree sunny day. RUNS: Hit Hansel, Gretel, Roundabout, Schoolyard, and Spring Canyon for a total of about 6 runs on Chairs 7 and 17 by about 2:30PM. Even these beginner runs had options for more difficult slopes and stunts along the way. Pretty cool. Heard Eagle Lodge is more beginner friendly since it's flatter with less turns. FOOD: Got a Chicken/Carne Asada Burrito at the cafeteria on the 4th floor. At $14, it was OK but definitely got sick of it halfway through. At least 3 free water stations in the lodge. Pack your own food or eat at the village if you can. There's a free 5-10minute Gondola Ride to the village. Overall, I like this space much more than Big Bear since it's more streamlined, cleaner, and spacious. All the various accents amongst the employees are neat too lol

Yelp
An amazing mountain. What a great time! We spent time skiing across the entire mountain after many years of no skiing! It's pricey, but you're getting a lot for your money. Special shout-out to Kim Beavers at the Eagle lodge for helping our group out of a bind!

Yelp
30min - Hour long lines on the weekend, yet multiple lifts are closed. If you like to spend your day in line... mammoth is your place

Yelp
Been going on weeekdays only for years and love it. All the lift operators, instructors, etc are all friendly and seem to love what they do. Even on low snow years there still enough to be fun! Easy drive too. No winding roads.

Yelp
We were taking our autistic son to disabled sports at the Main Lodge. My wife doesn't ski. We paid the $35 for preferred parking. The guy came to have us pay. I explained our situation and asked if we could come and go all day to preferred parking. He said no. I then stated that the $35 was good for the whole day. He then told me to leave and didn't need my business. I asked to speak to the manager. He said he was the manager. At this time my autistic son became agitated. I then rephrased and said that we didn't need the same spot. He then said we could return and park in the same day just in any space available. This guy was rude, loud, and made my autistic son upset. I deescalated the situation not him.

Yelp
Whatever you do, do NOT buy an Ikon pass. The parent company (Alterra) will screw you over to high heaven. Do not expect any love from them if you have any issues -- they are rude and downright mean. I'll never ski at another Alterra property again. Besides, since Alterra took over Mammoth Mountain it has completely gone downhilll -- very few lifts are ever open, hardly any employees, and lift lines practically down to the parking lot. Stay away!

Yelp
Let's shred some gnar. My friends/coworkers and I hit up Mammoth Mountain for a few days of skiing this past January! This was my first time in Mammoth, as well as my first ski trip of the 2021-2022 season. Both days of our trip were complete bluebirds - sunny and 50 degrees. Despite the warm conditions the snow was still incredible. Light, fluffy, and perfect for falling.. which I personally did a lot of. They also made it easy to access the slopes with shuttle pick-up/drop-off from local hotels and popular shopping destinations. We had a decent balance of new to advanced skiers/snowboarders in our group, and Mammoth Mountain offered a variety of great runs for everyone. When I wasn't on the slopes I was taking advantage of the ice cold Pacificos at Tusks Bar. They also had a pretty yummy line-up of warm cocktails for Après-ski inside the lodge. My only complaint is the insane pricing. When did Mammoth Mountain become Disneyland? Luckily several members of our group had Ikon passes so we were able to use their buddy discount.

Yelp
Getting there: There are a bunch of places to enter the mountain, but to enter the main lodge you follow minaret all the way to the entrance. It can get crowded so you can park on the side road just before the main entrance and a shuttle will pick you up. Don't forget where you parked! Experience: This was my first time boarding in Mammoth and it did not disappoint! There are so many lifts to choose from, but I decided to stay towards the bottom of the mountain for my first time here. If you aren't there to board or ski you can take a ride up the gondola to sight see. I would highly recommend it as the views are incredible at 11k+ ft.

Yelp
A Mammoth amount of snow, indeed! One of the best ski/snow resorts in the country is currently home to the most snowfall. A winter wonderland paradise for all, skiers , snowboarders, families & friends, mammoth is the best. Take your pick at enjoying Eagle Lodge, Canyon lodge, The Mill, or Main Lodge, tons of terrain for dayyyssz. Parking at the upper lots are $, free parking all around the streets, and great shuttle service all around the mountain. Go Shred!

Yelp
This mountain was so fun to ski down, had amazing rides and views and the snow was great. I gave it four stars just because it was so overcrowded and had to wait in lines for a long time. didn't get as many runs as i wished. the food at the cafe area was mid and overpriced but that's to be expected at a ski resort.

Yelp
The best park crew in the entire nation. Enough said, hopefully this short review doesn't take away from them...AS I believe that is all that needs to be said. They groom, are courteous to me and my family and keep the place safe...salting jumps and building it appropriately for all ages in all their parks. The top manager is awesome as he comes out early in the morning and says hi and keeps the place top-notch. I see him grooming and being a part of the crew, so many resorts can learn from this place.

Yelp
Cool ski resort with fun runs. The only beginner area is on the side with the greens and the rest of the mountain isn't very friendly to beginners. It's really windy though and some lifts closed. The lines are really long and the main lodge gets really crowded. Overall a nice ski resort. The town is also cool and has good dining and shopping. It can be hard to find parking though.

Yelp
This is my second time visiting Mammoth and both times have been great. I'm from Southern California and mammoth blows Big Bear out of the water. There's way more trails, the snow is fresh, and everyone is nice! I'm an intermediate boarder still learning how to carve, so I appreciate the open space to practice carving. The employees working the lifts were diligent in making sure people were wearing their masks at all times. If they weren't, they weren't allowed to get on the lift. Lines were a bit longer than expected, but it's because they didn't allow strangers to ride together. I'm glad that Mammoth is doing their part in slowing the spread of covid. Lift tickets are expensive, but they're expensive everywhere. If you plan to go often, I suggest investing in an Ikon pass.

Yelp
This ski resort is huge compared to Big Bear and Mt. High. You definitely pay for it with the lift tickets. My fitness had an ikon pass which we were able to receive discounts with. We started off at Eagle Lodge which is small side compared to the Main Lodge. However there are usually less people at Eagle. The Lodge itself is a large makeshift tent. The people working at the rentals were extremely nice. They allowed us to borrow helmets for the day. Parking shouldn't be too hard if you get to the lifts before they open. There is a parking lot however it does fill up. Parking usually then gets pushed to the streets.

Yelp
I mean if you have never been here, I would ask why not? With over 3000 vertical feet and 3500 acres of rideable terrain, how can you go wrong? The mountain has a really good layout as well that makes it very easy to transition from area to area. Of course some of the faster routes require a bit of skill, but the whole mountain is fun. So even if you have to take a less direct route, you are going to have fun doing it. If there is no powder, then I love doing speed laps on the groomers. Mammoth does an amazing job at grooming a large percentage of the mountain. So when you wake up you are almost guaranteed to have either powder or corduroy turns. And on some days you get both. I will say, first chair is really difficult to get on a powder day. There are plenty of people who will just camp out. The good news is if you don't want to camp out, just watch the lift lights and when one goes green, jump and you should get some freshies. I was lucky enough to get first chair on chair 23 once. But that was due to proper maneuvering up to the front of the ski patrol line and then somehow surviving the Chinese downhill. Won't likely be there again.

Yelp
It's not Colorado snow, but this is still a great place to ski in California. The town has chill places to stay, or you can stay at one of the nicer places on the mtn for ski in/out. Parking both days that I went was easy peasy and free. I went during the early part of the season (Thanksgiving 2021) so only about 1/4 of the mtn was open, but there were still lots of trails to go on and they cater to all levels. There are also many different lodges on the mtn to grab a bite to eat or drink. I look fwd to returning later in the season when there is more snow! Beware- gas prices in Mammoth are insane ($5+) so be sure to fill up before coming into town.

Yelp
I've been here many times, Mammoth Mountain itself is fantastic. I love snowboarding there. I will state that first. However, I recently purchased two lift tickets with SPOT insurance and missed the exchange date which is three days prior to the date of the ticket use because my wife had a medical emergency. Ok, I'll deal with that, file a claim to the third party. I tried contacting Mammoth Customer Service, they were little help, told me to contact the SPOT insurance company, the third party who holds the insurance for Mammoth Mountain. SPOT insurance company keeps saying they are waiting on IMG and there is nothing they can do. IMG keeps giving me different estimated completion dates, not responded to emails, and when I call tells me to keep waiting and call back in a week (heard that three times now). Countless emails, countless calls, It's super frustrating. I am well over a month now and provided them everything they need and still giving me the run around. SPOT insurance sure does seem like a SCAM at this point. If you don't have an ikon pass, I would advise people to WAIT and PURCHASE THE TICKETS ON THE MOUNTAIN, as opposed to buying ahead of time with the insurance. This will hedge against weather changes, but also if you run into a situation like mine, you won't be out $400+ for two lift tickets. Also, pay with a credit card so you can easily cancel and get refunded quickly. Over a month now since I filed my claim, got no where with the third party insurance company Mammoth uses, so my advice is NOT TO GET SPOT insurance. Buy your tickets on the mountain when you arrive. Avoid the headache I am dealing with.

Yelp
My boys love the summer activities that is offered, from rock climbing, bungee trampoline to zip lining. Jerry, the manager, was very helpful, offered great customer service and kept the line moving.

Yelp
My all time favorite mountain to snowboard whenever I get a chance to get out here. Reason why I prefer Mammoth over other socal location is that they offer many different trails which caters to each and everyone's skill level and you don't have to worry about a trail being over crowded.

Yelp
No wonder everyone talks about Mammoth! The snow is amazing! It's so fluffy and the mountain is soooo huge. There is plenty of space to ski and snowboard. They have areas for all the tricks and boxes. Gondola rides all the way to shred down or just even for the views and dining. It's crazy how huge this place is and how breathtaking everything is. We parked at The Mill before the main lot and shuttled up to main area. There is parking but might be limited. Parking along the road and shuttle stops also. We didn't know the mountain and parking but The Mill has a lift (Stump alley) to take you to the main area. Free parking. People are nice. Lots of dining. So much fluff for March too! Truly amazing.
