"If Mandapa feels more like a community than a hotel, that’s because it is. The resort occupies 24 lush acres on property previously owned by a group of neighboring families who retain access to the land and its resident temple; as a result, it maintains three acres of rice paddies and a traditional rice barn on stilts, and the villagers bring daily offerings to the temple, giving Mandapa a strong connection to local culture. The hotel’s open-air lobby sits 300 feet above the Ayung River valley, overlooking 35 hillside suites with views of the jungle and rice paddies and 25 villas along the flowing river. The suites are furnished with traditional Balinese pieces and artwork as well as stand-alone soaking tubs, while the high-ceilinged villas, decorated with ornate and vividly colored botanical panels, have large pools and separate master suites. Everywhere, local materials and design elements feature prominently, from the thatched roofs to the fringed umbrellas that shade the lounge chairs by the pools.Golf carts driven by staff members carry guests along the steep paths between the lobby, the villas, and the riverside Mandapa Spa. Yet, as dreamy as the hotel seems, it’s only a 10-minute drive from Ubud,Bali’s cultural center."

After 5 nights here , I still pinch myself every day to make sure this isn’t a dream…I never imagined that such a resort could ever exist. The beauty of the place is unreal and unmatched even at other big names in the area. Positive vibes and the most wonderful people that work here, they operate in a smooth and orderly manner making everything seamless. The butler service is impeccable and they are always ready! The room is huge and feels like it was built yesterday! No faults can be found. I loved the activities, pool, restaurants, especially the Ambar Japanese bar and restaurant that is a spectacular place for the sunset. To each and every person that makes this place paradise , thank you! Special thanks to the lovely waitress Oci with the beautiful smile for her great service this week. Glad to have so many friends at Mandapa that I look forward to seeing next time! Truly the best resort in the world!

Mandapa, a Ritz-Carlton Reserve is one of those unique and special properties that stays with you for a lifetime. ||My husband and I stayed for 3 nights and we could’ve easily stayed for a week. The service from the moment we were picked up from our first Bali resort to our departure was exceptional. I’ve stayed at many 5 star properties and Mandapa is at the top of the list.||As soon we arrived at the property, we were greeted by the general manager and were given a Tridatu bracelet (which I’m still wearing over a month later). We were offered a delicious welcome drink and given an overview of the property. We then met our Patih, Niti, who was exceptional in every way. I appreciated how Niti gave us her WhatsApp number so we could reach out to her at any time. She would even find us around the property when she hadn’t heard from us just to make sure our stay was to our liking.||We stayed in riverfront villa #23 and it was undoubtedly one of the best villas at Mandapa. We enjoyed drinking our morning coffee and eating breakfast in the detached living room and listening to the river rapids. I really appreciated how you could have the included breakfast delivered to your room at no extra charge. If you’re staying in a riverfront villa, then I would definitely recommend opting for the room service option for breakfast. I’m still thinking about the banana pancakes too over a month later! ||We took 2 excursions organized by Mandapa during our stay. We took the half-day Volkswagen vintage tour which is an absolute must do. Our guide was phenomenal and extremely knowledgeable. We thoroughly enjoyed our conversations with our guide throughout the day and she really enhanced our appreciation for Bali as a whole. We also took the Bali Beans family tour, which was great as well. As coffee lovers, it was interesting to trek along a coffee plantation and learn not only about coffee plants, but a variety of local vegetation as well. We also loved our guide on this tour and appreciated his willingness to engage in conversations about a variety of topics about life on Bali.||The food at Mandapa was exceptional. We ate at Ambar, Sawah Terrace, and Kubu and each meal exceeded our expectations. The sushi at Ambar was some of the best we’ve ever had and I loved how the meal included so many unique components, such as a welcome drink and delicious nibbles to hold you over until your food arrived. The cocktails were also a work of art. We ate lunch at Sawah Terrace each day and the food was also top notch. The meal was also an experience, where we were offered a bowl of natural disinfectants to wash our hands. The small bites offered before the meal were also a 10/10. We ate at Kubu for our last dinner and sat in a private cocoon facing the river. We loved the pork, beef, and beans courses the most, but each course was delicious and beautifully presented. I also opted for one of the wine pairings, which enhanced the experience. ||We were also very, very fortunate to stay during Mandapa’s 10th anniversary and we were invited to their anniversary celebration, which was one of the coolest things I’ve experienced in all of my travels. The celebration included a cocktail hour, 6-course gourmet dinner, wine, Kecak performance, and fireworks show. Of course, not every guest will experience this, but it was such a unique experience and I appreciated how we were able to be a small part of Mandapa’s 10-year story.||I never wanted to leave Mandapa, but Mandapa will never leave me. Trust me, you will not regret staying here.

I cannot begin to tell you how much we have enjoyed staying at the Ritz Mandapa Reserve. From 3-4 weeks prior to arrival, the team began their communication with me, ensuring that each day was carefully planned to suit our wishes and needs. As this is a property that’s on the river, I wanted for my husband and I to spend some time enjoying the hotel as well as spend time sightseeing. The staff made sure I received an equal amount of attention while on property and off. Our butler Jeje was nothing but helpful with all of our requests and constant changing of plans. I wanted to make sure we were able to experience as much of what the hotel had to offer as possible and Jeje helped me to achieve that. From ironing our clothes, to making photography reservations, to schedule spa appointments and changing dinner times around at the onsite restaurants, she was SO accommodating and that made me feel so important. I am a busy mother of 5 with a full time job and for someone to make it their full time job to attend to my needs for a change was the best experience I could have asked for. The location was just unreal. We got the Strand Villa Riverview and I could not imagine a better room. This is a must see and experience hotel. I will be recommending to all my friends and family. Thank you Ritz for making this a truly memorable trip for my husband and I.

We stayed at Mandapa for 2 nights in August, and it felt like a hidden paradise in Ubud. The drive to the resort was a bit rough, but as soon as we arrived, we forgot everything. The place was peaceful, green, and beautifully kept.||||Our daughter loved the kids program so much. She kept asking to see the two cows, Manda and Dapa, again. Even now after coming back home, she still talks about them almost every day. That shows how special the experience was for her (and for us).||||We had a personal Patih (butler), Niti, who looked after our family with such care. Nothing was too much trouble, and she always checked if we were comfortable. Because of her, we didn’t have to worry about anything.||||We also met Tom, who was very kind and warm. It was extra nice to learn that he has Korean roots, which made us feel even more connected.||||And of course, thank you to Desy Setiawati, the resort manager. She told us that next time she will make our stay even better. Honestly, I can’t imagine how it could be better, because it already felt perfect.||||Food was another highlight. We tried the Pool Bar, Ambar, and Sawah Terrace. Breakfast at Sawah Terrace was amazing — every à la carte dish was fresh and tasty. Ambar has such a beautiful view, especially at sunset. Only small thing: at night on the terrace there were a few mosquitos, but that’s just part of being in the jungle.||||Mandapa is not just a hotel for us, it’s a memory. We left with happy hearts, and if we go back to Bali, this is the first place we want to return to.

Mandapa is the gold standard for luxury hotels in Ubud, and the crown jewel of Marriott hotels portfolio. ||Not only is the property itself teaming with raw beauty, the service standard is unmatched. Mandapa staff anticipate your needs, take note of all preferences and really take care in personalizing the perfect stay. ||We cannot thank enough Niti, our butler who for two consecutive years of visiting Mandapa has made our trips as special as they have been. Special thank you as well to Gunawan, and Iwayan Suarjaya for your excellent hospitality and elevating our overall experience. ||Mandapas property situated on the Ayung River boasts plentiful activities on and offsite, while the hotel itself is such a pleasure to relax and soak up the lush jungle oasis. ||We very much look forward to returning.

I stayed at this hotel to propose to my girlfriend, and everything was absolutely perfect! The landscape was breathtaking. The villa was spacious, comfortable, and spotless. The restaurants were excellent. And Caca, our butler, was always so warm and helpful. Her hospitality truly went above and beyond our expectations, and I am deeply grateful to her. I highly recommend this hotel if you want to make your trip to Bali truly unforgettable.

This was probably my 5th or 6th time at Mandapa, and while it’s still one of the best resorts in the world, I did notice a decline compared to the absolutely impeccable, otherworldly quality I’ve experienced here before. Service: Staff are still warm and welcoming, but the service wasn’t quite as attentive this time. Our orders were mixed up a few times, which I had never experienced at Mandapa before. They’re still best in class, but not at the flawless level they once were. Food & Breakfast: Breakfast has gone down in quality. There are fewer options now, much of the à la carte menu is gone, and even the French toast (which used to be a highlight) was smaller and didn’t taste the same. In past visits, breakfast was one of the most memorable parts of the stay—this time it felt pared back. Resort Atmosphere: The resort also felt more crowded. In previous stays, you rarely even saw other guests because everything was managed so seamlessly. This time, golf carts were piling up and it made arrivals/departures less smooth. Mandapa still holds a very special place in my heart—my partner and I got engaged here, and we’ve created so many beautiful memories. That’s why it was disappointing to see some of these changes. I share this as constructive feedback in the hope that Mandapa will return to the level of excellence that once made it my favorite place on earth. Update: We want to add that the management team at Mandapa responded to our feedback with great care and attentiveness. Their reply was thoughtful, sincere, and made it clear that they are committed to addressing the areas we mentioned. We truly appreciate the time they took to listen to us and the effort they are putting into maintaining the exceptional standards that make Mandapa so special.
