Mandarin Oriental, Muscat

We had the great pleasure of staying in the spacious suite 508 with its cinema -screen type panoramic view of the mountains with the beautiful traditional Omani white buildings below. Watching the spectacular sunrise every morning from the balcony was a truly magical and memorable experience. ||The suite was exemplary in both its interior design and its level of luxury comfort. The room was kept spotless by the discreet and extremely friendly housekeeping team. ||Every aspect of the design of this immaculate new hotel from the stunning grand entrance lobby down to the choice of tableware is a visual pleasure. It’s impressive scale and the facilities offered together with the numerous dining options means that there is always something new to discover. ||The food and beverage are of the highest standard with only the freshest ingredients and always beautifully presented - the breakfasts and dinners were truly delicious.| |Above all this it was the welcoming and friendly hotel team which really made our stay the most memorable. Even by Mandarin Oriental’s high level of service, the team exceeded in all areas. The management team - Martino Del Buono and Felix Otto took time each day to ensure that our stay was going smoothly and that any request had been actioned. An outstanding hotel. Extremely well thought out room with lovely interior design touches. Very comfortable. Well trained staff. A big shout out to two in particular - David who attended to us by the pool & Mohammed who waitered in the pool side restaurant. Charming people who looked after us with natural hospitality, charm & humour.

Superb hotel, exceeded our expectations big time. We stayed 7 nights in a junior suite, with sea view. The service and attention to detail are exceptional. The food at Essenzia (Italian) is amazing as well as at the food in Rawya. We had the afternoon tea ceremony- one of the best we ever had anywhere in the world. Hotel guests are served complimentary mocktails by the pool and ice cream/sorbet, really nice detail. Breakfast was amazing every day - buffet as well as a-la-carte egg dishes. Try the Sidr honey at breakfast- the staff even sourced a bottle of this honey for us and delivered it in the room. The area the hotel is in is very well appointed- there is also a private beach for guests.

I had the pleasure of spending a week at this hotel, and within seconds of stepping into the lobby it was clear that this would be a truly one-of-a-kind experience. I received a wonderfully warm welcome from the Front Office Manager, who chatted with me throughout the check-in process, before I was led to my room, which offered breathtaking views of Muscat’s mountainside. The room was immaculate, with a luxurious design that blended beautifully with Muscat’s stunning surroundings. A particularly thoughtful touch was the “Strongholds of Heritage” book about Oman’s ancient and majestic forts and castles, placed on the table as an invitation to explore the country’s rich cultural heritage. I can wholeheartedly recommend a mountainside room if you’d like to watch the sunrise over the mountains—or let the first rays of sun be your natural alarm clock. The true highlight of the hotel, however, is the exceptional team of superstars at Rawya and the pool. They delivered an impressively professional and highly personalized service at breakfast, lunch, and dinner. They noticed even the smallest details and comments I made and remembered them throughout my stay, offering outstanding recommendations—even when a different team member was serving me on another day. In particular, I would like to recognize Thamrongsak, who took such wonderful care of me both at the beach and in the restaurant. I especially appreciated his warm, thoughtful, and attentive manner. When I chose the camel burger for dinner and mentioned that I enjoy trying more exotic dishes, he immediately returned with an excellent local restaurant recommendation from the kitchen team.

Great service and location. Peaceful place along the beach. Food is great and have tasty drinks. Perfect place for vacation. There are some good restaurants nearby, which could make you feel like you’re at home.

Outstanding hotel ! No details were spared in the high quality finishes and the beautiful design! Absolutely wonderful service at the beach/pool, in particular from David who was always very attentive and hospitable. We absolutely loved the cake shop/lobby cafe, and in particular the matcha tea time: the setting and quality of food/pastries was stellar. Excellent service by the whole team there, Kimberly and the very kind Egyptian gentlemen among others. Service at the pool side restaurant was also wonderful: we had an excellent dinner where a Thai gentlemen who was restaurant supervisor was a perfect Ambassador of Mandarin Oriental excellence. Service at breakfast was also very efficient, friendly and attentive!

The location of this hotel is exceptional — a beautiful property with stunning views and direct beach access. The food was very good, but the menu is surprisingly limited, with almost no Omani dishes. It’s disappointing that there isn’t more local representation, especially at a property of this level. Service was inconsistent. One woman at the front desk was notably rude, condescending, and unpleasant, and appeared far warmer toward white guests than others. It left a very uncomfortable impression. The operator was extremely difficult to reach. All requests must go through them, but calls often went unanswered, requiring repeated attempts. When they did answer, the tone felt curt and dismissive — not what you expect from a Mandarin Oriental. On the positive side, the concierge was excellent — helpful, professional, and reliable. The spa is beautiful, though the massage itself was average. I would return for the location alone, but I would also seriously consider alternative properties with more consistently professional and welcoming service. This was a disappointing experience, especially given Mandarin Oriental’s otherwise outstanding global reputation.

Mohammed, David, Shirin, and the room service and pool crew were all incredibly attentive and welcoming. The breakfast was outstanding, with an exceptional variety of high quality food and drinks. Our experience at Mandarin Oriental Muscat was truly memorable.
