The 52 Best Hotels in Paris

"Transport yourself out of Paris with this high-gloss hotel, where the past—charming, though it is—doesn't trump the present. You might call it another elegance; but it makes sense that this would be the case at a Mandarin, where the codes for 'luxury' are different, where guests and staff alike swear by impeccable service from start to finish; stylish modern decor; and high-class dining and spa options. The unapologetically modern Thierry Marx overseeing Sur Mesure and Camélia is another way to bridge the divide: having him on board is a clear nod to the local culture and culinary prowess, but his inventiveness and diverse culinary background matches the hotel's contemporary spirit. Another feature that sets Mandarin apart? The to-go Cake Shop located at the entrance to Camélia, one of the only properties in Paris that has this on offer." - Sandra Ramani, Lindsey Tramuta

Mandarin Oriental, Paris

"So, what can you tell us about this place?Of the 10 Palace hotels in Paris, only one stands out from the rest in updated decor. After entering the marble lobby and craning my neck upward to take in the leafy courtyard garden and cascading greens from the massive floor-to-ceiling windows, I felt transported out of Paris and into a more contemporary city where the past isn't brandished quite so heavily as a selling point. Makes sense that this is a the Mandarin, an Asian group with different codes for luxury. "Another elegance" is what I said to myself the first time I visited the hotel. And that extends through to the restaurants, the rooms and spa. And the service was impeccable from start to finish. We like the sound of something different. What’s the crowd like?Mandarin devotees from around the world, high-profile public figures, and the fashion set, drawn to the hotel's location on one of the city's most upscale shopping streets. Makes sense. Now, onto the good stuff: Tell us about the digs.Rooms vary in size and color palette but all offer soft rugs, silk throws, a neutral but warm color scheme with accent colors like purple, floral bouquets, and large beds just asking to be jumped on. I visited the Deluxe room which was Art Deco in style, had a walk in shower, and contemporary art lining the walls. It was peaceful and quiet. Perfect. We’re craving some deep, restorative sleep. They got us?The bed had 500 thread count linens and a robust pillow menu to meet different needs. They attend to all types, it seems. How about the little things, like the mini bar, or shower goodies? What would you sneak back, if you could?I would snatch the Bang & Olufsen audio accessories, a more upscale alternative to the Marshall amps seen in more and more properties. Good call. And please tell us the bathroom won’t let us down? What can we expect?Walk-in shower, separate bathtub, beautiful and extremely bright. Frette linen bathrobes were soft, not overly cumbersome like most robes tend to be. Nice, local touch: Diptyque toiletries with a scent created especially for the hotel. Oh, Diptyque is a favorite. Maybe the most important topic of all: Wi-Fi. What’s the word?Wifi's free. Excellent. Anything stand out about other services and features? Whether it’s childcare, gyms, spas, even parking—whatever stuck with you.Thierry Marx oversees Sur Mesure and Camélia, a wise choice in culinary lead given that among the country's leading French chefs, Marx is someone who is always on the bleeding edge. Having him on board is a clear nod to the local culture and culinary prowess but his inventiveness and diverse culinary background matches the hotel's contemporary spirit. Sur Mesure benefits from intimate dining nooks, soft round (almost futuristic) lines and all white/off white color scheme. Put this place in space and it wouldn't be an unusual sight. Over at the spa, there's a 14-meter pool, and a host of treatments. There's also a garden/courtyard for coffee, snacks and drinks—a gorgeous space in the warmer months—and a to-go Cake Shop located at the entrance to Camélia, one of the only properties in Paris to offer this. Wow—there's a lot to see. Bottom line: Is this place worth a stay?It doesn't feel distinctly Parisian, despite the cuisine and the views, but someone who books the Mandarin knows that ahead of time. The service, the location and the comfort in-room makes it memorable by default."

We would like to thank Paul for making our dinner truly exceptional. His personal touch made all the difference — he listened to us attentively and offered recommendations for both dishes and wine with genuine care. It’s rare and special to feel so thoughtfully looked after. There was a kind of magic in the way he seemed invisible, yet appeared at just the right moments, anticipating our every need with quiet precision. The food was amazing, and the service elevated the entire experience to another level. Highly recommended.

We are currently staying at the hotel while we celebrate our 25th wedding anniversary. We couldn't be happier with the hotel and its staff. Our stay began with an introduction to the hotel by Anna, who demonstrated the perfect combination of warmth and professionalism, something that we would come to see from staff member. From the bartender to the concierge team to the housekeeper who brought fresh fruit, we have been extremely impressed by the quality each attendant. In particular, we enjoyed talking with Johann while we were waiting for our car to arrive; and when the Uber driver failed to arrive at our location, Johann immediately took the initiative to have the hotel car/driver take us to dinner, a gesture that created another memorable experience. ||I am surprised by a few comments that the hotel is old or overpriced. In contrast, we are extremely impressed with the size of the room as well as the way in which it is perfectly appointed. As with other MO hotels, the quality of the room and the personalized service are well worth the cost. We highly recommend a stay at the Mandarin Oriental, Paris!

When seeing the cost of the room we expected so much more. And the prices of drinks and food are extortionate. The staff are excellent, though - they gave very good service. There is a courtyard bar that is nice. Works well. But the bar menu is very limited. |The bathrooms are split either side of the room entrance lobby. So, after using the shower or toilet you have to come out and walk across carpet into the other part of the bathroom (!) to wash your hands and brush your teeth. Odd set up. R|The room is just ‘ok’. I expected more. It’s clean etc., but just didn’t seem MO. |Restaurant is expensive, but that’s expected. |Really good staff, and hotel is in good location - and seems safer area than others - but due to the cost of the stay I wont be going back.

From check in to check the Mandarin Oriental Paris was truly amazing. We have never been to Paris and wanted to stay in an area close to many sites and also have luxurious accommodations. The room was one of the quietest rooms we have ever stayed in which helped for a restful nights sleep. All the staff was friendly and informative. The concierge team was amazing! I literally did not have any plans set up and they helped me with restaurants and tours. Special thanks to Jean and Vincent for all their help. Jean helped to set up a perfume making class that my daughter and I really enjoyed and last minute reservations at a fantastic restaurant! | Also, I asked if there was a place they could recommend to watch the fireworks for Bastille Day, maybe a rooftop somewhere close or a restaurant. To our surprise, Mathilde, from guest experiences, opened one of their rooftop suites with a great view and had drinks and champagne for some of the guests to enjoy! They really go above and beyond to make your stay comfortable and special.

The hotel met and exceeded all of our expectations for our recent trip to Paris. Immediately upon arrival everyone already seemed to know our names, and their guest services department was able to arrange for a special bottle of champagne on arrival. The rooms are beautiful, spacious and immaculate. The entire staff seems to enjoy working here and you are always greeted with a smile and a staff that is willing to do whatever they can to assure you have an amazing experience. The front door staff are extremely friendly and every time we returned to the hotel it felt as if we were coming home. ||We dined at the hotel regularly in both the restaurant and room service, everything was excellent. They also have an in house pastry shop with excellent desserts. There is nothing about our stay that I would not rate as a five star experience. This will definitely be our home whenever we visit Paris in the future.

This hotel was one of the best parts of our stay in Paris. From the moment we arrived everyone at the hotel seemed to already know our names. The staff is incredible and go out of their way to be helpful. Everyone was pleasant and seemed to enjoy their job there, there was not a single person who didn’t greet us with a smile no matter the time of day. The food at the hotel restaurant and from room service is excellent. The breakfast had some of the best croissants we tasted, and the pastries from the on site pastry shop are amazing. The location is beautiful and convenient to many sites. The rooms are some of the largest we have seen in Europe and they are immaculate. The rooms have a modern decor with every amenity you would need. This is one of the best hotels we have stayed at and I wouldn’t even think of staying anywhere else on our next trip to Paris.

This is a very nice hotel with great, convenient location. The rooms are well appointed and the restaurant/terrace is really great, especially during nice weather. Service is overall good but there were some housekeeping lapses on multiple occasions which is not expected at this level/price point.

We had an absolutely wonderful dinner at Camélia restaurant at Mandarin Oriental Paris, and we want to give a special thanks to Paul for the incredible service. It wasn’t just a dinner — it was a true experience, elevated by his professionalism and charm. Paul has that rare ability to read the mood of the guests instantly. He was attentive, polite, stylish, and had a great sense of humor. Everything — from his thoughtful recommendations to the flawless presentation — was handled with elegance. He created an atmosphere of comfort and effortless sophistication that made us never want to leave. Thank you, Paul, for making our evening so special. You are truly the heart of Camélia. We’ll remember this night for a long time and can’t wait to come back!

Yelp
The service is fantastic, from the moment you walk in the door! A little slow with dinner but very kind and attentive staff. The food however, I can't say the same about. Our table had the 98 euro per person tasting menu. It was verging on inedible. By the time I had my last dish, I was moving the food around on my plate to make it look like I had eaten it so that I didn't upset my friend who had taken us to dinner there. I could tell everyone else at our table had a similar opinion on the quality of the dishes. Unfortunately the only good thing was the wine and the birthday cake that we brought for dessert.

Yelp
Sunday brunch at Camélia is a more elegant buffet than I'm used to. For 98€/pp you have the buffet, an entree, and coffee or juice. The buffet consists of breads, pastries, cheeses, meats Parisienne ham, jamon), a smattering of sushi, and salads. While it's not exactly extensive, it's decent. The entree choices range from fish to meat, pasta, and a vegetarian option. The menu doesn't really specify so it's vague. We ended up ordering dish and meat. Both of which were pretty tasty and well cooked. For dessert, you can select from a dessert case of fancy mousses, some mini drinks, and macrons. I think this is where you can do some real damage because they also sell these same items for quite a lot of Euro. Service is usually quite good but our server seemed inexperienced and spaced out if you ask me. The other servers (outside in the garden) seemed more professional and expeditious. This isn't exactly the type of brunch where you chow down and put away plates of food. Somehow it just didn't seem quite right given the elegant setting and fancy clientele. While we didn't leave hungry I think we probably could've eaten more. Overall, I'm glad we experienced brunch at Camélia. Would I return? For the price and selection, probably not. There are just too many other options for brunch in Paris.

Yelp
If your coming here for truffles, they're only in season in the winter. They don't have truffles in August. The porklet. Pork ribs with the bone removed and chicken stuff in its place. It was tender but lacked in flavor. The sauce was just salty no enough flavor or melted collegen you would expect from ribs. The veal tartare was good but the mention of truffles sauce was a joke. 5 stars for the atmosphere 3 stars for the service 3 stars for the food. It was good but at that price and small portion I expect perfection.

Yelp
After an afternoon of shopping and wandering around in the 1st arrondissement, we decided to take a short break and let our feet rest. Camelia is a lounge located in the Mandarin Oriental, Paris. We arrived in the late afternoon on a weekday, and the restaurant was not packed at all. We ordered two pastries and some tea to go with it. Wow are their pastries are out of the world! I especially enjoyed Charlotte:) I would never be able to find sophisticated pastries like it in LA.

Yelp
Great space for meal and a drink. I had a club sandwich and it was pretty good. The fries were big and greasy - I like the thin and crispy kind and these were the opposite. Big, soft and dropping with oil. I'd come back though just to sit and enjoy the air and the space.
google avatar

Yelp
You cannot go to Paris without dropping by the MO wether for lunch at Camelia or Sur Mesure or for tea time Even after 10 years in Paris, I still rank the place in my favorite top 10 for a good tea and pastry Cons? Definitely price :p

John B.

Yelp
Louis and Yasmin were perfect... very gracious and well served and I felt really at home. So friendly as Paris can sometimes be a little cold. This place is great

Jack L.

Yelp
I stayed at the Mandarin oriental and came in for breakfast. The service in my opinion is top notch. As of June 2018 54 euros for a buffet breakfast and eggs. Salmon ham cold cut meats are at minimum in regards to selection but pastries you had a lot more choice. I thought each one was delicious, light and a lot to choose from Different types of bread Cheese fruit yogurt cereal are also available. The wait staff is fluent in English and French. Always attentive. Refilling water. Aldin if I'm ok. when my coffee was almost finished they were asking if I'd like another (not waiting until done) and new cup not top off. So far other restaurants are pretty laid back and slow compared to what I'm used to but the eggs came out surprisingly quick. Possibly cheaper alternatives but if you're at the hotel solid choice
google avatar

Yelp
The Mandarin Oriental has 2 restaurants, with Camelia being the "little sister" to Sur Mesure. I had brunch here and found that despite the 50 euro prix fix, the restaurant still needs to work out its kinks particularly regarding the service which was attentive and nice but a bit confused. For example, I came at 10:30 AM and the staff debated internally first if they could serve me and then if they would serve me breakfast or lunch. Similarly, when I asked to replace the bacon on my eggs benedict with salmon, my server said he was unsure and wanted to check with the kitchen. Now, one might say that's overly picky of me, but the reality is that this is the Mandarin Oriental, and for a guest that has probably just invested 1,000 euros in a room and a breakfast, the correct answer is "yes". The food was very good - my eggs benedict were even topped with black truffles and had a sprinkle of wild flowers. By the time I got them, they were cold though. Of note, the coffee was outstanding.

Yelp
Great service great place! We had a great time here! Food is delicious and delicate. Dress code: smart casual works well for this 2 Michelin stars restaurant.
google avatar

Moses A.

Yelp
Unless you're staying at the Mandarin Oriental in Paris, you may not think to go in for a bite, especially given the vast variety of options available in the city. But make no mistake, if you go to Camélia, you're in for a real treat. I know, I know; you expected me to rave about Sur Mesure, the formal restaurant, which boasts two Michelin stars--but it's dressier and harder to get a reservation. Camélia is a bit more laid back, yet still a fine dining restaurant (not an inexpensive place) and doesn't have a dress code. The food is outstanding and the outdoor courtyard seating, weather permitting, pleasant. The sea bass is a great choice, though other seafood, pasta, chicken and meat are on the menu as well. But if you don't save for dessert you could either teach courses on self control or you are impossible to impress. The desserts are simply out of this world; small, artfully presented, and beyond delicious. They, alone, are worth the trip. Go ahead, indulge already!

Yelp
The service is outstanding, from the moment you walk through the doors. The food was the worst I have had in Paris. At 82 euros I got an undercooked egg in luke warm soup and the saddest duck in western Europe, a bottle of water, a glass of wine and an expresso. I saw the same look of disappointment on the faces of many of my fellow diners. Not worth the money, not in this city where you can get awesome meals for half that price.
