Mandarin Oriental Santiago (Santiago, Chile) Verified Reviews | Tablet Hotels

"The distinctive cylindrical tower that once held the Grand Hyatt is now home to the totally reimagined Mandarin Oriental Santiago, a modern luxury hotel with perhaps more personality than you’d imagine it needs to have. Much of this is due to the architecture, specifically the truly vast atrium at the core of the building. And once you’re in the rooms and suites you’re in familiar Mandarin territory, all clean lines, polished hardwood, and modern furnishings and fixtures, along with all the physical comfort we expect from the brand’s hotels. Also of note: Italian and Japanese fine-dining restaurants." - Tablet Hotels

ACUATROMANOS (Massage Spa Chile)

Visiting the Mandarin Oriental Hotel in Santiago is always a real pleasure. The rooms are spacious and perfectly equipped, providing the ideal setting to set up our massage table and enjoy a calm, relaxing session. At Acuatromanos – Four Hands Massage Spa, we offer professional in-room massage services, available on demand 24/7, designed especially for English-speaking travelers who seek rest and recovery at any time. Even though the hotel has its own spa, we’ve had the chance to visit both during its regular hours and after hours, when the spa is closed — often to assist artists and guests who need a massage after a long flight or following a late-night performance. The hotel staff is always attentive, kind, and incredibly helpful, making every visit a smooth and pleasant experience. Overall, providing our service here is always a delight — truly one of my favorite places in Santiago.

Great place to stay with attentive service. We arrived early and Javier was able book us into our room after a long and exhausting flight. How great to be able to check in early and freshen up. The restaurants are very good and bakery should not be missed. They truly made us feel at home.

Mandarin Oriental Santiago – A Masterclass in Mismanagement. What should have been a seamless pre-cruise stay before my Silversea expedition turned into an infuriating display of incompetence and indifference. After a long journey to Santiago, I arrived to discover my room wasn’t ready. Not for an hour. Not for two. I was left waiting until after 9 PM before I could finally access my room—only to have to vacate less than three hours later for my early departure. This wasn’t a hotel stay; it was an expensive shower interrupted by checkout. The cascade of errors that led to this situation was bewildering enough. What made it unforgivable was the response—or rather, the complete absence of any meaningful response—from those who should have intervened. Agustina, the hotel manager, demonstrated a remarkable tolerance for failure. Rather than taking decisive action to rectify a situation that was spiraling out of control, she offered little more than hollow acknowledgments while the hours ticked by. No urgency. No solutions. No apparent understanding that guests don’t pay luxury rates to sit in a lobby watching their evening evaporate. Equally disappointing was Mercedes, the Silversea agent, who seemed content to let this disaster unfold without any effective coordination or advocacy on my behalf. When you book through a premium cruise line, you expect a certain level of support and problem-solving. Instead, I received what felt like passive acceptance of the unacceptable. This wasn’t one mistake—it was a series of failures met with a shrug. At this price point, at a property bearing the Mandarin Oriental name, and in partnership with a luxury cruise line, this level of service is inexcusable. I paid for a night’s stay. I received roughly two hours of access to a room I should have had all evening. Neither the hotel nor Silversea’s representative showed the competence or urgency the situation demanded. Avoid this property if you’re passing through Santiago for a cruise. You deserve better.

Unfortunately this MO location is just okay, not great. Front desk, concierge, and valet are nice and welcoming. Rooms are quiet, we didn’t hear any neighbors or people in hallway, room carpets had stains and aged but the shower and faucet water would randomly turn off for several seconds when in use every time. Location is pretty good, can walk to most fun restaurants if you are up for it.

I must admit, I rarely leave reviews for a hotel in such circumstances unless it is truly terrible. Unfortunately, this Mandarin Oriental hotel is a very poor example. I wouldn’t call myself a loyal fan of Mandarin Oriental, but over the past 30 years, I’ve stayed at various Mandarin Oriental hotels dozens of times, and I am also a member. So I believe I can judge this hotel’s performance based on my own experience. First of all, we arrived at the Mandarin Oriental in Santiago, Chile at 10 a.m. today, but they insisted that I could only get a room at 3 p.m. Although as a member, I would usually have a chance to get a room earlier, I understand this is a reasonable rule, so I waited patiently until three. From the indifferent attitude of the front desk staff, I already had a feeling things wouldn’t go smoothly today. Sure enough, they messed up my room assignment, and the room I ended up with was not the one I originally booked, so I couldn’t connect to the room’s internet. More importantly, the luggage I checked in upon arrival was delivered to a different room, and it took over an hour to retrieve it. Since I usually drink a lot of water, I always ask the hotel for extra complimentary bottled water. In my few experiences staying at Mandarin Oriental hotels, this has never been a problem. However, this afternoon, it became a serious issue. First, the room itself did not provide any complimentary bottled water. And the tap water in Santiago is not suitable for direct consumption. Within an hour and a half, I contacted housekeeping three times to request extra water, but there was no response at all. Eventually, it was the staff member at the lobby who answered the phone who personally brought four bottles of water to my room. I was very grateful for his dedication and explained my drinking habits to him. He promised that after the evening turndown service, he would send ten more bottles of water to my room. After dinner, we returned to the room and found only two complimentary bottles of water. So I called the front desk to inquire. To my surprise, they asked if there was any medical reason that required me to drink so much water. At that moment, I felt I really could not tolerate it any further. I was shocked that this hotel is the designated hotel for Silver Seas Cruise’s Antarctic journey, and even more puzzled as to how it could be part of the Mandarin Oriental Hotel Group.

I stayed here 1 night before my Antarctic cruise. Very nice hotel, wonderful pool area, fantastic breakfast buffet. Just a quick 10 minute walk to the Hop O, Hop Off bus stop, which is nice. Check In and Check Out was a breeze. I had an issue with signing on to the wifi, they sent someone from IT immediately, literally within 3 minutes! I asked for an adapter from US to S American Electric (I forgot mine). Again, within 3 minutes I had someone at the door offering me 2!! Top notch Service - and with a SMILE!
