Mandarin Oriental Santiago (Santiago, Chile) Verified Reviews | Tablet Hotels

"The distinctive cylindrical tower that once held the Grand Hyatt is now home to the totally reimagined Mandarin Oriental Santiago, a modern luxury hotel with perhaps more personality than you’d imagine it needs to have. Much of this is due to the architecture, specifically the truly vast atrium at the core of the building. And once you’re in the rooms and suites you’re in familiar Mandarin territory, all clean lines, polished hardwood, and modern furnishings and fixtures, along with all the physical comfort we expect from the brand’s hotels. Also of note: Italian and Japanese fine-dining restaurants." - Tablet Hotels

Incredible staff up at the club lounge. Arantza is AMAZING!! So beyond helpful and kind. She treated us as if we were her own family. Diego was also wonderful. Would recommend the hotel based on the club lounge staff and their hospitality. The hotel itself is very nice, but the AC was not as strong as we would have liked.

- no one helped us with our luggage when we came out - no one opened our car door - when we were checking in they said they’d email us when it’s ready. Well they didn’t we had to go ask. - when we were checking in they said they’d bring our luggage to us, they didn’t we had to call at 4 - check out is 12 PM, it’s 11:15 am and they sent someone in person to check our mini bar. They said this was normal and they check everyone’s. I have never had this treatment in my life especially at a five star hotel. Ps the room service is amazing and delicious and super expeditious. Would recommend. Update; so I actually had two separate stays and the second time was much better. We had to leave our luggage to go to Atacama so it was easier to stay with them. However I also realized in my first stay we did not have slippers the first time around and we only had one bottle of water between two people. In addition we ordered coffee in the morning and we left for a tour. They forgot milk so we had to call and ask for milk. We were in a rush so didn’t drink most of our coffee either. When we came back about 4 hours later house keeping had put our coffee outside of our room on the floor… it was still on the floor outside actually. However there were also many great things, I also want to shoutout Antonia. She was at the front desk and was very kind and attentive. Shoutout to Marco who made our stay super special and was able to find my friend a coveted pen!!!! I also think they did a great job listening to feedback. We were not bothered this time by the mini fridge. PS the gym is great! Overall I think they just need to fix some consistency. There are clearly great people here.

My wife and I spent one night here. The hotel and the grounds are beautiful.||We had a deluxe view king room that was spacious and very nice. It had a large picture window with great views. We got a few English tv channels which was a bonus. The bathroom was also large and very nice. It didn’t have a door for privacy in the shower, though, which we didn’t like.||In terms of service, things got off to a good start @ check-in. The woman at the front deskwas helpful and efficient. Things went downhill fast after that, though. ||It started with not getting the luggage rack that the baggage porter said he would drop off. Then the woman who functioned as a quasi-Maitre D’ for the hotel’s restaurants indicated that we could only eat at their expensive Asian or Italian restaurants. She spoke little English and conveniently neglected to mention that the cheaper Atrium lounge had availability. ||The server at the Atrium Lounge took our order and never returned - no water refills; no chance to order another round of drinks; etc. We had to chase someone down to get a bill. ||We returned to our room and discovered that the turn-down service only gave us one water bottle, candy serving and one pair of slippers even though the room was registered for 2 people and we had two large suitcases. ||None of the service issues, standing alone, were significant. Taken as a whole, though, it seemed like widespread incompetence. For the prices that they charge I expect more and do not recommend the hotel.

Phenomenal service, room quality and overall experience. Everyone at the hotel goes above and beyond to make your stay enjoyable. Rooms were 11/10, amazing amenities, daily snack and housekeeping service. Blows the other 5-star hotels in the area out of the water.

This was an exceptional hotel. Felt as luxurious as expected. Room service was delicious. The Mountain View was amazing and worth it. The staff were really great and thoughtful. Also, Susan from the pool bar gave us exceptional service and made our stay exceptional! The oasis vibe was perfect for ending our 2 week honeymoon.

One of the most disappointing hotel experiences I’ve ever had. I arrived expecting my room to be ready at the promised check-in time of 3:00 pm, yet I was only given access after 9:00 pm—a full six hours late—with no proactive communication, apology, or meaningful solution offered. The situation was handled extremely poorly by the manager, Agustina, whose attitude was dismissive and unhelpful throughout. Instead of taking ownership or providing alternatives, she allowed the issue to drag on while guests were left waiting with no clear information. Beyond the unacceptable delay, the hotel itself is far below the standard it tries to present. The property feels cheap, run-down, and neglected, with worn-out furnishings and a general lack of maintenance that immediately gives the impression of a budget motel—yet the prices are anything but budget-friendly. For what they charge, the quality is truly shocking. The atmosphere inside the hotel is also uncomfortable. Throughout my stay I encountered shady, unsettling characters lingering in hallways and common areas, which made the place feel unsafe and poorly managed. The overall environment is not what any traveler would expect from a reputable hotel. Considering the combination of extremely poor service, unprofessional management, unacceptable delays, and the low-quality, uncomfortable environment, I can confidently say this is one of the worst hotels I have ever stayed in. I would strongly advise others to avoid it. There are far better options at the same price point—or even cheaper—that actually deliver on basic standards of hospitality and safety.

Great place to stay with attentive service. We arrived early and Javier was able book us into our room after a long and exhausting flight. How great to be able to check in early and freshen up. The restaurants are very good and bakery should not be missed. They truly made us feel at home.

My wife and I stayed here for four nights to kick off the South American portion of our month-long vacation to South America and Antarctica. Having never been in Santiago before, we wanted to stay in a reputable hotel with luxury brand. This hotel fit the bill. Our room was on the 16th floor (out of 18) and was not facing the busy President Kennedy Avenue, which cut down noise, but didn’t eliminate it. We could still hear traffic from other streets even though we were pretty high up, and in fact I wore ear plugs to deal with it. The bed itself was quite firm, but the first room they assigned us had an absolutely rock-hard bed which I objected to, so they moved us down the hall a few doors, and while still really firm, it was acceptable. Nerve pain in my legs result when beds are too hard, and would have happened here if we didn’t change rooms. The view of the Andes from our room was striking, and the room itself was sizable. Breakfast buffet is very good and with a wide variety of selections, including items that can be ordered off a menu. The restaurant Sensa has excellent food if eating dinner there, and the service provided there and the entire hotel is consistent with the Mandarin Oriental brand. I just wish road noise was less, and beds were softer.
