MANDIYA

So good! And the price is right. The restaurant was recommended by my hostel. I stopped by for lunch and love it so much that I got a dinner meal to go (take out is a little cheaper than eating in). Then came next day for another lunch. I would happily eat here every day. I had the fish and sides both times. So well cooked and tender. Very good fish. Absolutely delicious and a wonderful mix of dishes. I took my second lunch as a mid hike meal and it really hit the spot. You don't go hungry. They have options for everyone: fish, meat, vegetarian. Highly recommend!

We had chicken rice and curry. The taste was good, but the portion size was small. We waited about 10 minutes for a table because the dining area is very small.

Food was fantastic! As a tourist we can sometimes be served bland food by default, so it was great to have a meal with proper spice. The best meal I've had so far in Sri Lanka without any exaggeration. I was offered more rice but the original serve was more than enough 🤤 Will definitely return.

Delicious and such good value. We had two meals and a drink which came to under 1500lkr in total. The food was delicious and tasted fresh and home cooked. I enjoyed the chicken curry and mango curry in particular. I had never had a mango curry before but it was excellent. If you are visiting Kandy for a few days, would strongly recommend coming here for lunch (not on Sundays as I believe they are closed)

Wow this is the definition of hole in the wall! Truly a hidden gem in Kandy… no menu, only ask what is available on the day and you’re in for a delicious feast! Head to the back of the small shopping mall and it is up some stairs - atmosphere was okay but still highly recommend for an authentic Sri Lankan meal.

We called in for some rice and curry. It was a little hard to find - at the back of an old shopping mall, but was well worth the effort. We received a warm welcome and had the 5 menu choices explained in good English. We had the veg curry and fish curry. It was wonderful watch the small friendly team preparing numerous take out orders. This was our first meal presented on a banana leaf in Sri Lanka and it was delicious. The food was exactly as advertised - authentic. All fresh and tasty and very reasonably priced - give it a go - you won’t be disappointed.

Absolute gem of a place. This was one of the best meals I had in Sri Lanka. With only 4 tables, the place is so cozy and has such charm. The beef curry was the perfect amount of spicy and the prices were extremely reasonable. Mandiya is a must-visit in Kandy

Had the most amazing experience eating this restaurants food on a train ride from Kandy to Nuwara Eliya. Best food so far in Srilanka and fantastic cultural experience! Can’t wait to visit the restaurant. Highly recommend!!
