Hmmmmm verged on 3 and 4 stars for this one.
I had heard a lot of good things about Mandoon Estate.
Headed there with some family here from overseas, to show them the Swan Valley and a quintessential Australian winery/brewery.
There was no parking left in the car park, so everyone was parking along the road leading to the main road.
We were there on a Saturday and the place was insanely packed. We had to hustle, and watch out for a table then jump on it as soon as one become available (our glares were probably not overly appreciated by those diners lingering over their finished lunches), then when we got that table, we kept an eye out for a bigger table that would fit everyone. The staff don't take any bookings for tables in person, so it's up to you to find something for yourself. Sounds easy, as this is the policy for a lot of venues, but the venue (on a rainy April Saturday) was rammed and very noisy. This place is VERY family friendly, take from that what you will. By the time we got a table I already felt the laid back Saturday lunch vibe had been a little bit ruined by desperately trying to get a table.
You have to order at the counter and the line was long. The food came out reasonably quickly and was delicious.
Perhaps when the new opening buzz of this venue runs out it will be a quieter and more enjoyable experience. But when we went it was manic, and though it's a nice looking venue with great food, they probably need to put in a better process for getting a table and ordering food.
