Ate here a number of times on our visit in was not disappointed with the menu at all. We ate the pepperberry and coconut soup with wild mushrooms, the lamb shank, and the pasta; all which rated very well. The cocktails were lovely and the wine list was quite good. Prices are more expensive but this is to be expected as it is in the middle of nowhere, so obtaining Fresh produce can be tricky. Had no complaints about anything we had and the stuff were very attentive.

We had gone there for lunch and ordered cauliflower and veg burger. Cauliflower was okay and burger also just average. But it came with fries. The ambience was nice and we were the first one to come in for lunch at 11 am. The girl who took the order was very rude. We asked for some vegetarian options. They had a pasta and we requested if the chef could do a vegetarian version for us. This girl got upset and wasn’t happy to go and check. All you want in a nice place like this is to have consideration and patience for all kind of dietary requirements. The manager came and explained the situation why they can’t do a vegetarian pasta and he was nice enough to come and talk to us nicely. Wish we could say the same about the waitress though. All it takes is a smile and an apology if you can’t do any changes. Do NOT recommend this place if you have any specific dietary needs.

We shared the kangaroo kebabs, poke bowl and warm chocolate fondant. All of them were exquisite... and we may return. We didn't choose any of the bigger mains so expect to spend $40-60 per person if you order them. Attentive service and grand decor.

We have been twice for lunch at Mangata and each time has been fantastic. The food is fresh and vibrant and a little bit special. The staff are polite, welcoming and very friendly, thanks Ife and Shoka

3.5 stars for the Kangaroo loin. It was good and a lot nicer than I was expecting. The shave that comes with it is really nice. Wish there was a bigger size for the price point. I think the restaurant could use 1 or 2 more employees to help manage the lunch time rush of people. Not enough staff to go around..

Some dishes better than others. Would highly recommend the squid appetizer and the iced tea. We tried wallaby for the first time, not sure if it was done well vs personal tastes but it was okay. The fish was cooked well, but nothing spectacular. Overall pleasantly surprised by the food given we are in the middle of a desert.

Had our wedding anniversary dinner here. Food was a solid 4.5/5, especially after a day of hiking in the cold rain. We had the chef's kiss salt and pepper squid which was so tender and paired well w thai sweet chilli sauce, highlight of the night. There were Pork ribs and kangaroo kebab, which were not tough to eat nor too gamey and enjoyable as well. As for the sides that can with the ribs, the sweet potato fries were the perfect thinness for a person that hardly finds sweet potato easy to swallow. I think it was well balanced by the crispiness. Unfortunately, the coleslaw tasted like dried out leftovers. Overall it was a well balanced meal. Not too sure why the service was rated poorly here, the staff were friendly and kind even with the rush hour dinner crowd. Even took a great photo for us. Only flaw perhaps was that they didnt let us sample the wine first? But we also not that atas la.

The meal started nicely, our startes were very good. It all went a bit downhill from there. The mains were a long time and the vegetables on the kangaroo loin were Luke warm. The staff were very pleasant and friendly and it was a very busy service. In my opinion not enough staff for the volume of customers which was a shame.
