Mango Bay resort is a pretty cool resort for some chill-out time. The staff were helpful and friendly. The food was wonderful and way above a 3-star for this. My friend did find for small kids' meals, it got pretty pricey without many allowances being made.| It is located close to other eateries and small shops within walking distance, however it's very dark for your walk home if you eat out. All the bungalows are built amongst nature and trees, with some lovely lighting features on the pathways throughout the resort. The beds were so comfy, and every bed has a full mosquito net over it with lighting inside the 4 poster bed for reading. Every room and bungalow are open in that they have slats in the walls and shutter windows, and open bathrooms to nature outside (fully private) but very open with some cane blinds to come down at night. They are very cool!! |They provide mosquito coils, which I couldn't use, and although I never got bitten as I shut up blinds and doors at 5pm there is a lot of bug life around and in rooms at times. The evening room service is way too late to prevent bugs from coming in to your room. I did this an hour earlier than the staff did, and it really helped.|My biggest disappointment was that I was in room V02, These rooms are joined together (not bungalows), and for my entire stay, I had two lots of people on either side of me who smoked. The deck area outside this room is fabulous, with a hammock and nice seating. I was smoked out every morning and every evening, the smoke came into my room due to the slats in the walls. It was just awful, and when I mentioned it to the staff, they just shrugged. They were more onside with being a smoking resort than my comfort. Why on earth they allow people to smoke in an area that is a massive fire hazard- dry leaves, wooden, thatched bungalows is bizarre and in an area where other people are right next to you. If you book in here and don't like smoke then ask the staff to not book smokers around you.
