What a wonderful place! Glad we found them for lunch on the way to Key West. Great comfortable atmosphere on covered outdoor patio. We started with the bacon wrapped dates… very good, I had the caprese salad with blackened shrimp… absolutely delicious. Hubby had the Cuban Reuben … he said it was very good with just the right amount of thousand island and sauerkraut. All staff were extremely friendly and helped each other out at all times.

Google
Very friendly service. Indoor and outdoor seating available. Full bar available. I ordered their fried fresh catch of the day basket. The fish was triple fin, and it came with fries. Delicious. My husband ordered their Cuban Rueben, and said it was outstanding and unique.

Angie Wynn

Google
Amazing food, cozy tropical atmosphere. The staff here was attentive and pleasant. I can not wait to visit again and try some different dishes.

Dan Tompkins

Google
The family and I stopped here on the way to Key West during "Reggae Sunday." Loved the atmosphere and the people working there. I ordered the "catch of the day" fish sandwich, which was Cobia. I ordered it blackened. It was fantastic. Also, some of the best French Fries I had in the whole trip.

Michelle Fuhr

Google
Oh my WOW. This food was outstanding! The waitress was fantastic! The drinks were great! We will be back!!!

Amber Hyde

Google
We stopped by Mangrove Mama’s during our trip—cute spot with a laid-back vibe. Unfortunately, the food we ordered was pretty underwhelming and lacked seasoning, which was disappointing given the hype. However, the Key Lime Pie saved the day! It was rich, tart, and had the perfect graham cracker crust. If you go, maybe just skip straight to dessert.

Google
Wonderful selection of food . The atmosphere was laid back and very Florida Keys centered . Food was quick and well prepared and plenty of it . Our server was attentive and a pleasure . I highly recommend and will return .

Google
The food was great. I had the burger and my wife had the shrimp basket. Although more shrimp would have been nice for $18. It felt like there was only 6 shrimp total. I also had the Key lime pie, which was good. The food was fresh and the service was overall good. Definitely a good place to stop on the way to Key West.

Yelp
Delightful spot with excellent service. We enjoyed the Wahoo. Mine was lightly blacken and my partner's was panko-crusted. Both plates were prepared quickly and piping hot!! The fish, zucchini and mashed potatoes were fllavorful. However, I did not care for their Key lime pie. The crust tasted like it had a spice in it that detracted from the experience. The accompanying guitarist was excellent and chatted with the customers. We will definitely return.

Yelp
Our first visit was just for something to drink. But .... The staff was amazingly fast and friendly. The food going to other tables looked good !! We will definitely have to stop for food next visit !!

Yelp
So we actually stayed at the KOA right up the street from this little treasure. First of all, there's plenty of great parking. Second of all a lot of the restaurants that we go into whenever we are on one of our road trips seem staged, and you don't get the vibe always of where you actually are. This place has a fantastic vibe, the staff is super fun and super friendly. They got our orders all correct and we're all pretty picky eaters, also kept checking back in to make sure my husband got plenty of hydration(wink wink) but the food on top of all the other things that I just mentioned was my favorite meal of our 14 day trip. We drove down from North Georgia and back but mangrove mamas was our favorite stop. We never take our leftovers because we're camping and we just eat a lot ha ha but we definitely took these... anyway mangrove mamas we will see you in December

Yelp
We came here in February, this is the end of May and ordered the same thing! Exactly the same! Absolutely delicious! This food is like a high class restaurant, but casual! Very old Florida look. We always sit at the bar and we always have excellent service. We will come here over and over!

Yelp
Large restaurant off the beaten path. Plenty of seating and parking but enough people here to still feel lively at dinner time. Was worried about the quality of food but it'd say it was 3.5-4 start food. The quantity of food made up for it. Really large portions.
google avatar

Amy D.

Yelp
Nice music. Food was just ok but they did have some interesting choices on the menu! We loved the conch fritters.

Jose M.

Yelp
Overall highly disappointing. Dead on a Saturday evening, but service was somehow still slow and bad. They forgot an entree we ordered (family of four so one adult went hungry), charged for fixings for the kids burger which only comes with bun and literally a burger patty cut in 1/4ths, couldn't ask for a check fast enough to get home and make dinner (which this was supposed to be). Hate writing bad reviews, so I will say at least the shrimp/scallop appetizer was good. Two kids cheeseburger meals with lettuce and tomato was $26, so FYI if you must for kids just order the main burger and cut in half for each kid, I expect it would be better and save you some $. Based on other reviews other folks seem to have better luck, but we won't be back personally as it doesn't really hit any spot. I'll either go to a local hole in the wall, or drive to key west for decent overpriced food.
google avatar

Yelp
Great fresh food and great service. Laid back atmosphere with spacious indoor and outdoor seating. I would highly recommend stopping and trying if you're passing through sugarloaf key. They also have happy hour drinks 3-6 m-f.

Yelp
Mangrove mama's new menu is so impressive. I think they have new ownership and maybe a new chef. It really made a world of difference. The pizza offering is phenomenal and I'm so glad to have a solid pizza place so close by it's crispy and chewy and just done right and the crust is handmade. Everything else we ordered last couple times we were there was super good. I highly recommend mangrove mamas again!!! You can tell that they are really trying to revamp the food scene there, and they are doing an amazing job.
google avatar

Yelp
Fantastic surprise. We walked over from the KOA expecting to find bar food. Wow. Homemade at great prices and large portions. Risotto was delicious. Quesadillas were expertly seasoned. Very friendly staff especially Dyan (pronounced "Dianne")

Yelp
So! It has been a while since I have posted anything! The site wants a picture of me? Why? Anyway last July 2024 this place sucked. I didn't want to pay bill cause it was plain bad. ! Today I saw all the cars and decided to try again it was under new ownership !! My son n law got the pork sliders and fry's. Two things the slider were unreal and 2nd thing was fry's were hot and very good. Not typical stuff with all the batter !!! Real HOT Fries ! So I order Pepperoni pizza red sauce with mushroom!!! Yeah baby came out hot and excellent!!! My baby girl got Margarita pizza and I didn't try it but she was gobbling down !! Service was excellent and they had little band starting up as we paid bill ! Had grand daughter 2 months old so we had to leave. I was FLIPPED over the change and wish the new owners best of lot! Headed back to the Carolinas Tuesday. But my girl will enjoy this place

Yelp
Fantastic food and Patio. White grape gazpacho soup was great and something I haven't seen at other places. Steak nachos are loaded with meat.

J M.

Yelp
Ordered 'mini surf and turf'' . Big helping of mashed potatoes, topped an overcooked, burnt to death piece of old meat and one ,half dollar sized, curled up overcooked shrimp. I realize it's cheap at $18, and one shrimp is fine, but why serve old (really small) crap. I ordered a coke and automatically got a Diet Coke without even asking me.

Yelp
Cozy little spot gives the perfect keys vibe. We were greeted and seated immediately, our server was also the bartender inside and was kind and attentive. Firecracker Shrimp special was amazing. Catch of the Day was Golden Tile and was great. French fries are hot and crispy. We didn't get anything to drink but their Happy Hour specials are a deal.

Jayne H.

Yelp
Newer ownership is providing outstanding "bar" food. The pizza is outstanding with a crispy crust, great sauce! Definitely the best pizza around. The appetizer surf and turf is exceptional. Great flavors decent price, great bartenders and servers. This place has been up and down in the past but it's definitely delicious!

Yelp
We were looking for a place for a quick dinner on our way back from a day in Key West. This came up on Yelp and we decided to give it a try. The menu has many items that are just not our usual food faire but luckily the specials and fresh catch dishes gave us some options. We decided to order the seafood extraordinaire which was a pasta dish. Usually we do not order pasta but the types of seafood had us hooked. There was good portions of lobster, shrimp and scallops on it. We did not care for the fish that was used on it (kind of dark and not moist) but my husband was good with the mussels. The best part was usually pasta dishes are heavy with cheese or a heavy pasta sauce but this one has a light, flavorful sauce which we loved. Overall we were happy with our shared entree (and it was a very large portion so great for splitting). We did not get any drinks but the choices looked tempting. Our server (who it sounds like is sadly moving across country) was just the right amount of attentiveness. There was live music outside which was nice but the flies became so bad we ended up moving inside to enjoy our meal.

Yelp
Amazing food, ambience was perfect. Everyone was friendly and the service was excellent! I got the Jamaican chicken sandwich and oh my!!!
google avatar

Yelp
Decided to stop for a quick lunch here after seeing good reviews. It's a hidden gem in the area. Although it's unassuming from the outside, it's well worth it! We had an amazing server named Dawn who gave us great recommendations. The best cocktail was definitely their Mango Margarita, which has the perfect kick with a little jalapeño. Unfortunately, they were out of the Mac & Cheese Bites so we started with Dawn's recommendation and ordered the potato skins. They are fried so they're crunchy and very good! For my meal, I ordered the Shrimp St. Jacques which was insane it was so good. Apparently it's a favorite and I can see why! It's so creamy and full of flavor! They serve it with an incredible garlic bread. You can smell the garlic when it gets to your table. Can't wait to go back. I'll definitely save room to try the key lime pie!

Cheryl H.

Yelp
Food was good and atmosphere was enjoyable. What made the evening was the music. But the service was very disappointing. Took our order and never saw her again.
google avatar

Seema Z.

Yelp
We stopped on our drive to key west here to sample their famous key lime pie. They also have a chefs variation that adds blackberries to it. The pie filling was good, but a tad sweet. The graham cracker crust while balanced could be thicker. Happy hour menu was interesting and the drinks discounted. We tried the mangrove mama drink which is basically a mix of differnt Vodkas. Note - they closed Tuesday due to short of manpower

Yelp
Just OK. Went the next day to Square Grouper grill, and so much better. This place charges a fee for credit card usage. Fish sandwich had a strong fish taste. Not what I wanted after I got it. I won't be back. Not that good
google avatar

Yelp
I truly dislike posting this review. I stop by Mamas on a regular basis while going into work. The reason I am so disappointed is I was the only customer in the entire restaurant. Yet I was served burnt and nasty fries along with my hamburger that was supposed to be Medium. It was medium but very rare inside. I asked my server if there was a new or different cook working. She said No and took my money. To be very honest I am so tired of going to restaurants and being inconsistent to the point of disappointment and frustration. A $30.00 hamburger and a side of coleslaw should not be that hard to full fill. It's not just the cook that didn't do their job but the server should have noticed the disgusting looking fries.
google avatar

Kit G.

Yelp
Stopped in to see the music and have some snacks. chicken wings, salads, grilled mahi, and some drinks was great. Food was good atmosphere wonderful. There's an outside bar covered and an inside bar outside dining and inside dining very comfortable little oasis off Route one clearly a lot of locals TVs for sports but you don't have to watch umbrellas on all the tables, in case it's a little weather. Clean restrooms and nice ambiance overall.
google avatar

Anna B.

Yelp
The new owners did a great job renovating. There are two bars to choose from, the inside tavern and an outside tiki bar as well as plenty of inside and outdoor restaurant seating. They have live music on the weekends performed on a pontoon boat which is a nice "Keysie" touch! Food is great and reasonably priced for the area. If you haven't been in a while definitely check out the NEW and IMPROVED Mangrove Mamas!
google avatar

Thomas G.

Yelp
New owners have done a great job with this iconic place. Food is excellent and the bands have been good as well.
google avatar

Dave W.

Yelp
I'm a fan. This place has a very long history and fresh seafood. I'd recommend reading about the history as it dates back to the Flagler overseas railroad which was the first way to get to Key West besides by boat. It's not exotic or crazy creative but the grilled grouper meal is good and lasts me or a couple meals due to the portion size and my cancer surgeries altered tiny stomach. I also like the service, the building and the atmosphere. It's Florida keys unique and it is air conditioned! Life is good with fresh grouper and AC!

Mark K.

Yelp
Not very good at all. The food is average at best. I was very disappointed compared to what the place used to be. I'm not going back.
google avatar

Kim H.

Yelp
Food was mediocre. Service was very slow. Went on a Sunday at around 6 pm. I've been here before a few years ago and it was better. Not comfortable seating. Had conch chowder, cracked conch and conch fritters.

Chad B.

Yelp
We have passed this place many times & never stopped, what a mistake! This is a timeless treasure that's somehow weathered a lot of storms & still stands with a classic keys style ambiance. We received great service on both of our visits. The food was great, tried several menu items, swordfish-conch-a salad-burger-chicken-meatloaf, all were good. Definitely worth your time to check out.
google avatar

Zanda G.

Yelp
The atmosphere is great. This is a really cute place. But the food was just a massive let down. We ordered conch fritters which had a bunch of tough pieces in them, like hard cartilage. The sauce was like a basic salad dressing. Nothing was seasoned really at all. I ordered pork tacos that were really dry on raw tortillas. They could have heat the tortillas up at a minimum. The taco filling consisted of dry, raw shredded cabbage and a topping of really overpowering pickled onions. Service was just ok. No one even bothered to ask how the food was though 3/4 of my plate was left uneaten. I wouldn't return or recommend dining here.
google avatar

Ruth S.

Yelp
Conch fritters were just ok Calamari was soggy Fish & chips fish was ok fries were soggy How do you mess up a Rib eye???? No flavor veggies were just steamed maybe boiled no seasoning. People were nice. NEVER going again.
google avatar

Deb M.

Yelp
Great Philly Cheesesteak - fries respectable- wonderful New England Clam chowder- glad they are open again - pleasant barmaid- we will be back - oh and anyone who serves French's Ketchup gets an extra nod from me

Twinkle T.

Yelp
Just had one of the worst meals of my life from here. The catch of the day - tile fish, grilled slimy and tasteless. served w obviously frozen vegetables that still tasted like the freezer and for an up charge I received a small order of stale French fries instead of mashed potatoes. Any place that can't even get French fries right should not be in business. they serve quickly and do take out but haven't got the most important aspect down - the food! Do yourself a favor and keep driving.
google avatar

Prasad K.

Yelp
ambience - 5/5 service- 5/5 Food - 4.5 What a great food. Its worth a try multiple times. Its was busy place and the quality didn't get affected due to busy time. Great place to have nice food.
google avatar

Melissa N.

Yelp
Mangrove Mama's is a charming and lively restaurant located right on Highway 1. It would be very hard to miss since it's colorful. It always draw my attention when I pass by. Finally, I decided to try it out. I think the food is just okay. I ordered the smoked fish dip and the mahi tacos. I liked the fish dip very much actually. But I did not enjoyed the seasoning on the chips that accompanies the dip. As for the tacos, they were not bad. I would probably order them again. 3 stars

Yelp
Super cute outdoor dining area food is fire and the drink prices are chill. Enjoy... Okay so I have to write more or yelp wont post this.
google avatar

Katey J.

Yelp
This place is really awesome! Allow me to list the ways! delicious food w plenty of choices, the fantastic chef will adjust orders within reason. I personally recommend the "Shrimp St. Jaque" which has the most scrumptious semi-Cajun creamy cheese sauce! Live music every night. many different indoor rooms, in addition to bar area, big outdoor area where the soundstage is & 2nd bar, I believe there is even a small outdoor patio near the entrance, and they sell merchandise there. SUPER friendly staff there used to be a resident Golden Retriever, but he might only be there during the day not very far from key west airport if u are heading to any of the Keys north of key west but starving or wanting a cocktail. I usually don't do my posts as a list, but there are too many things I love about this place, it would have turned into a dissertation if I wrote it out in paragraph form!!! Can't believe it took so long for me to write this review! Please go check it out! Prices not out of control.

Yelp
Thanks to the wonderful Yelpers our there, I chose thIs place to eat due to the abundance of positive reviews and pictures. I chose this spot maybe ten minutes before we arrived. We were starving and had a long drive ahead of us to get back home. We pull in, park, and take our munchkin for a walk. It was the middle of December and hot as hell out. Since we had our dog, we had to sit outside. The restaurant was pretty dead and we were the only ones sitting outside. We were greeted right away and offered a bowl of water for our pup and these huge fans to be turned on. We placed our drink orders without server and did not have to wait long. I ordered a rum runner without grenadine because that just adds too much sugar. It was good but unfortunately, it was melting quickly. I ordered a wedge salad with extra dressing and gumbo. My salad came out super quick. Hubs ordered tacos. The food came in huge portions and of course I was unable to finish my food. The heat and abundance of bugs made it difficult to eat comfortably but that was not the restaurant's fault. I must have been bitten 40 times! I also used the restroom before we left and they had that scrub you rub on your hands! I love that stuff! They do sell it there and stupid me did not purchase it. I have to say, this was one of the best experiences I have had in Florida. The service was superb. Everyone was so friendly and funny. The food was so delicious. The prices were reasonable. The inside looked small but the outdoor area was massive. I wanted to stay much longer and it seemed like a regulars place that was very homey. We are definitely stopping when we visit the Keys again.
google avatar

Alexandra A.

Yelp
Key west atmosphere, food was not good. Fried food was over fried, food was dry, beer was hot. Waitress took her time and has attitude came to the car asking for more tip. I don't mind spending money as long as the food is tasty.Lobster Rueben Sandwich has 2 small pieces of meat.
google avatar

Lorraine S.

Yelp
The restaurant has just reopened under new ownership! The food was amazing and Dana took great care of us! I will definitely come back when we are in the area!!!
google avatar

Rachel W.

Yelp
Great fish tacos and amazing fish sandwich! Patio seating is really fun and the entertainment was one of the best we've seen so far.
google avatar

Jonathan H.

Yelp
On vacation. We had a great fish dinner and key lime pie and hung out for live music.
google avatar

Jeff W.

Yelp
Stopped here for lunch on our trip back to the mainland. Okay place. Lots of history, which is quite interesting. Nice relaxing atmosphere. My wife had the Shrimp St. Jacques and I had the Chicken Wings. Food is good. The only problem is they work on Island Time. So if you're going to hang out - then this is the place for you. If you're looking to eat and run - not so much.
google avatar

Michele S.

Yelp
Food was "ok" - definitely get the shrimp! Blackened fish over cooked, fried conch fritters not great. Bean / corn / rice side I had to spit in my napkin. Server took an hour and a half. Bathrooms are nasty I will say cool vibe and live music was great.
google avatar

Joel R.

Yelp
They are temporarily closed. Something about new management. They have been doing some construction as well

Deborah S.

Yelp
I just had the BEST Jamaican Jerk chicken sandwich I have ever had! The pineapple salsa made it amazing. My husband loved his Cuban. We both highly recommend this place. It looks like they are going to have live music as well. Great job
google avatar

Audra A.

Yelp
Wish we'd been hungry! We had breakfast and took a ride with the top down to find some fresh shrimp for dinner. Sunday mid-morning we ended up in search of cocktails as well, and happened upon Mangrove Mama's. The pina coladas were best ever, literally. Margarita was excellent. Strawberry daiquiri was good but very sweet. When we asked what their pina colada recipe calls for, we found out it was island oasis but they have the good ice machine. I was expecting a long list or a homemade recipe. They have a brunch buffet which we all checked out en route to the ladies room. I was surprised to see seared tuna, shrimp cocktail, and all the traditional options. There were lots of folks enjoying the brunch buffet, and I suspect a good many were local.
google avatar

Kayla R.

Yelp
We luckily stumbled upon this gem and fell in love with this place! Great drinks and good food. I got the meatloaf and my fiancé got the teriyaki mahi stir fry special and both were delicious!! We also heard good things about the lobster roll. We went back for just drinks multiple nights. Dog friendly! Every worker we encountered was super nice and welcoming. Great music as well! We cannot wait to come back.
google avatar

Elton H.

Yelp
Besides a great song this spot is a must of your looking for the true keys experience !! The location is easy to get to , the outdoor seat with live music is solid !! The beer is cold and the food is tasty !!!
