Manifattura Di Gelato restaurant

It was a big mess. Waiting ages to be seated, waiting ages to be asked to order. Place was not even full, many spare tables left but people had to wait in line to be seated. We shared a salami pizza, food was good. It seemed that tasks among employees were not clear and therefore it all seemed like a big mess. Place has had been recommended to us by many locals but unfortunately the service was a disaster.

Disappointed - we had to wait nearly 30 minutes to have our order taken - despite asking several waiters they kept saying ‘someone is coming’. I finally got a waitress (who said she shouldn’t be serving us) to take the order. The food came in under 10 minutes and tasted delicious…. However the chicken pizza had a bone in it 😢

Delicious food and friendly service. We visited twice (20th and 21st of March) and first night was perfect. Friendly and attentive waiters, delicious food and good prices. Second night one of our waiters (who was not there the night before) misunderstood our orders (we were ordering caprese/carpaccio starters and we were given two pizzas..) at the start and was very rude about it and then refused to serve our table for the rest of the evening meaning we were waiting for a long time in-between courses until other waiters stepped in. We understand mistakes happen and were not upset about that in the slightest but we were made to feel like we were in the wrong, which left a bit of a sour taste on what would’ve been another great night of food.

Definitely the best restaurant on the Praia de Calheta and one the best 5 on Madeira. It's not a simple Italian restaurant, it has sophisticated dishes done to perfection, both in taste and presentation, from Beef Tartar to Osso Buco and Octopus. Their Gelato is freshly made on the premises, definitely you can't find a better one. Definitely the most friendly service on the island. Prices are fair also.

My girlfriend and I had wonderful dinners at the Manifattura Di Gelato. We’ve been one week on Madeira and ate 5 times there. The staff was very friendly and accommodating. They were quick and easy to talk to. The food was delicious and definitely worth the price. We ate different meals and can totally recommend the chocolate mousse - so delicious. If you are around you should definitely give the restaurant a try!

The pizza and salad were absolutely delicious! We also tried the lasagna, which had a bit too much tomato sauce for our taste, but overall, we really enjoyed the food. The ice cream was a delightful treat as well. The staff were friendly, and the location was great!

Pizza was amazing. The caldera and chicken dish was very tasty and well presented. Ice cream was homemade and very creamy and delicious. We came here two times it was so good.

Had an really nice dinner. We ate the bruscertta, Bianca pizza and the squid. The staff working there were very kind. Over all lovely dinner. highly recommended!
