Staying at Maniumpathy was a wonderful start to our first ever trip to Sri Lanka. A small Colonial-style boutique hotel with 7 rooms and a swimming pool, our suite was spacious, beautifully designed and furnished, with an outside balcony overlooking the pretty manicured gardens and pool. The bathroom not only had a shower, but there was a standalone bath, and ‘his and hers’ basins. Originally a house owned by the same family for several generations, attention to detail runs throughout the whole property, with all the reception areas feeling very homely with large comfy sofas, antique furnishings and family photographs. The outside dining area overlooks the gardens, and the food is absolutely delicious. There is a separate bar, again beautifully furnished, and the cocktails are amazing. As for the staff, what can one say - brilliant, brilliant, brilliant. Nothing is too much trouble, they will all stop and have a friendly chat, and they will go out of their way to fulfill any requests you may have - all done with beaming smiles on their faces. We were very sorry to leave, but would like to thank Shannon and all his lovely staff for making us feel very welcome and looking after us so well.
