"One of Sydney’s most famous surf spots, Manly Beach is a huge sweep of golden sand backed by pretty pine trees. It’s actually three beaches in one—South Steyne, North Steyne, and surf-friendly Queenscliff, stretching almost two kilometers—and is the first of the city’s Northern Beaches which run from here up to Palm Beach. Take the iconic half-hour Manly Ferry from Circular Quay to Manly Wharf for its fantastic views of the Sydney Harbour Bridge, Sydney Opera House and city skyline (especially if you bag a seat outside), and on arrival, hit either the family-friendly harbor beaches on both sides of the wharf, or head down The Corso, a short pedestrian street across the peninsula, to oceanfront Manly Beach." - Sophie Davies

Manly Beach in Sydney is a true slice of paradise, offering the perfect mix of natural beauty, vibrant energy, and laid-back coastal charm. Just a short ferry ride from Circular Quay, the journey itself is a scenic adventure with stunning views of Sydney Harbour. The beach is renowned for its golden sands, crystal-clear waters, and excellent surf conditions, making it a favorite for swimmers, surfers, and sunbathers alike. The lively Corso, lined with shops, cafes, and restaurants, adds to the experience, providing plenty of options for a post-beach meal or a leisurely stroll. What sets Manly Beach apart is its versatility—whether you’re looking to relax under the sun, enjoy water sports, or explore the scenic coastal walks, there’s something for everyone. The atmosphere is welcoming and family-friendly, making it an ideal destination for both locals and visitors. Manly Beach embodies the best of Sydney’s coastal lifestyle and is a must-visit for anyone seeking a blend of natural beauty and vibrant culture.

Super busy and crowded in the summer. This is our first time swimming in an Australian beach. The sand is very fine. The water is ice cold. Lots of people go here to sunbathe and relax. Always prioritise your safety by swimming between the flags. Lifeguards and volunteers regularly remind the people to be safe. Please also keep the beach clean. Some visitors leave their trash at this beautiful beach. I also recommend bringing coolcabana portable tents/shade as the sun's UV rays are extremely dangerous. You can feel the sun burning your skin.

Manly Beach is not getting five stars because we saw quite a few dead blue bottles on the shore. They could be the non-stinging variety, but I don’t like worrying about jellyfish when I’m in the water! That said, they were plenty of families playing in the water. It’s a beautiful beach with nice, clear, warmish water and soft sand that also features a wonderful beach-walk where you can take dramatic photos on the rocks (See photos). Fantastic, well-paved beach walk that also features a delightful beachfront, free swimming pool. (Also, see photos). The surrounding town has a great deal of cute little restaurants and shops to pop into as well! Just a little worrisome that there were jellies.

A great day trip from Sydney - wish we'd taken our bathers! Caught the public ferry from Circular Quay, quick walk from the warf to the surf beach, then stroll along the beachfront to Shelly Beach. Lots of lizards and a couple of bush turkeys in the nature reserve and cooler under the trees. Heaps of choices for food. Free water taps along the beachfront.

I think Manly Beach is one of the most beautiful and most popular beaches in the world! The sand was great, and I had a wonderful time in the ocean. And what I love about it is that there are always lifeguards there, which makes it safe. The photo uploaded was taken on the south side of the beach.

Not very crowded when we visited there. Beach surrounded by good walk way and also having a shower station.

The visit to Manly Beach by ferry is an exhilarating ride. Saves a lot of time too. The beach is very long but many areas have a strong and dangerous undertow. Swim only between the flags placed as guides & avoid the water in the dangerous areas.

A short ferry ride from Circular Quay to Manly Beach on a glorious day, started the day for my friends & I. The short scenic walk from Manly Ferry to Shelly Beach was fantastic. The beachfront & nooks were littered with benches. Kiddies will enjoy hunting for little statues of penguins, scuba divers, octopus etc almost hidden on the flora. Plenty of tables & benches at the promenade to enjoy a fish & chips. I find that Manly Beach is well-designed & people friendly, catering for the old & young. I wished I took more photos to share - next time...
