My wife and I are Californians who stayed 8 nights in a motel studio of Manly Paradise during our visit to Sydney. It was over Christmas and New Year 2024 / 2025. ||Our Aussie friends recommended Manly Beach. We managed to find a reasonable price of a studio in Manly Paradise. Then again, we realized that this studio did not have that much space nor amenities. We were in it more for the convenient location and the enjoyment of beach front living. ||Around the Holiday season and Australian summer, Manly Beach was a happening place. The Corso one block South of the motel was always full of people among the shops, bars, and restaurants. The crowds on the beach and on the strand made for great people watching. We noticed how convenient that we could sneaked in and out of our motel and be in the middle of things – such as watching fireworks in the harbor from Manly Wharf. ||Being in the heart of the Manly restaurants and shops was practical also. I made it a habit to grab a lite bite for lunch or brunch at Norma’s every day. For supper, we bought cooked dishes from Cole’s supermarket nearby. We did a bit of shopping on the Corso, not as a dedicated shopping trip but instead based on happenstance. One practical need took a bit more effort though. The motel did not offer laundry facilities and I ended up walking 15 minutes to a laundromat a few times. ||One key attraction for us was the famed Manly Beach to Shelly Beach ocean swim. We enjoyed doing that swim with hundreds of others on warm sunny morning. When the weather, or when the ocean conditions, was not so inviting, we would walk the mile or so to the very nice Boy Charlton aquatic center to swim in the 50-meter pool. Staying in Manly would indeed make a swimmer happy. ||While in Manly, we had a casual itinerary of mixing beach activities with sightseeing in the city. On days when we headed to the CBD, the Manly ferry was an enjoyable mode of transportation. That included one late night return ferry trip after seeing a show at the Opera House. We also explored other Northern Beaches. We walked to Freshwater for a picnic and some swimming. We took the bus to Dee Why where we spent a better part of a day. My wife also found the North Head hikes fascinating.||The Manly Paradise staff were all friendly and warm. We made friends with our housekeeper and felt at home. I would recommend this motel for a short beach vacation.
