On the Grid : Mana! Cafe

"No hipster neighborhood is whole without a conscientious eatery of organic vegetarian fare. In Poho, Mana! Cafe is it. Located in a leafy quiet area accessible only by foot, its next door neighbor is a yoga studio creating an enclave of wholesome goodness. Wraps served flat, like a pizza, dominate the menu. Try the excellent coffee and juices too. If you're looking for some chill time there are books to read and electrical outlets to plug in your laptop so you can take advantage of the wifi. This cafe is part of a trio of Mana outlets co-founded by Bobsy - a champion of the environmental and organic movement in Hong Kong for the last 20 years." - Angela Ho

"Beverly Grove’s Manna Cafe, which opened earlier this year, begins serving a new dinner menu this week that is inspired by summer campfires. Chef Brian Hill aims to highlight American and Asian influences in dishes like kimchi and mayo grilled cheese, prime hanger steak with tom yum mushroom and green peppercorn vinaigrette, roasted figs, smoked salmon deviled eggs, watermelon salad, and macaroni and cheese with roasted corn and jalapeños." - Virali_Dave

Beautiful coffee shop with delicious pastries and excellent coffee (expresso, latte, americano, cold brew, drip...) Friendly staff. Very clean, bright, and relaxing space. We need more coffee shops like that in LA!

Google
This place is sooo cute and has such a nice vibe. The lavender latte was amazing, as was the tuna sandwich. With gorgeous rooftop views and a great staff, we will definitely be back!!

Found this cute cafe after lunch at the Thai restaurant nextdoor. I was amazed by how organic, chic and elegant these interiors made. Fresh flowers were prepared by the baristas. I saw them arranging freshly arrived flowers in between making coffee. So beautiful and heartfelt. The cortado was top notch! Great blanace of milk and espresso. I particularly like the windows- be able to see through and feel the rainy day vibe. 🦋 Will definitely come back often.

Google
The avocado toast was delicious and just the right amount of food. The staff was friendly and helpful, and the entire establishment was clean + nicely decorated.

Google
Great spot. It’s got coffee, wine and a lot of great things. I totally recommend it. Especially if you like Italian wines and other wines.

Google
Nice spot across from CBS Television City (p.s. I support the 2023 WGA Strike!) Drip coffee is from Laidrey Roasters. They were serving El Salvador beans when I was there. I prefer a slightly darker roast but this was still great coffee and also strong.

Antoine Kunsch

Google
Very pleasant interior and great simple food (omelette sandwich). Glad I found this new location to enjoy and that I could charge my phone and laptop during LA power outages!

Google
Manna Cafe is so much more than a coffee shop, their food and wine is LEGIT! We finally tried their dinner menu and the dishes were SPECIAL! The lamb ribs, the wings, the Mac n cheese, and the little gem salad were so tasty. Also, their manager Jesus was so nice and fun. Can't wait to come back for dinner again soon!

Yelp
Excellent! Started with the best Latte I have had in LA followed by Breakfast tacos with homemade mole! Incredible bursting with flavor. Homemade tortilla and home made hot sauce. Was my Birthday so they brought out Taramisu that was also wonderful! Will be back again and again!!!

Yelp
I'm always on the hunt for a good breakfast spot. When the place we wanted to go to wasn't open we cruised around and found Manna Cafe. All we really wanted was a good breakfast and a good bloody Mary. And Manna Café did not disappoint. The bloody Mary's came out and they were delicious. When we ordered the brisket sandwich to share and it was so good I couldn't even I mean I can't even explain to you. Maybe the pictures will help you see how good it was but it was like brisket and coleslaw, and then you dip it in the au jus, which has a little bit of horseradish in it. It was fabulous. Seriously if you're looking for a breakfast party in your mouth, your mouth will thank you for coming to Manna Café.

Yelp
Amazing service! Seated right away. Free water and puppuccinos! Oaxacan latte and hot chocolate. Crème brûlée. They have a Events for paint & sip. They also have wine and food!

Yelp
I really loved the ambience of this place and attention to detail! It's such a calm atmosphere and they are remote worker friendly and the staff were all so kind. The food was amazing and I love the idea of this place to have both coffee and wine ( if you come later in the day or evening!) I also loved how they are a quick food place but offer mimosas for their brunch menu. Everything I ordered here was amazing and I'll definitely return to try more. The crème brûlée had to be my favorite of everything I tried!

Yelp
The latest cafe to open in the Beverly Grove area is Manna Cafe. For relocation reference, it's on Fairfax Bl next to Short Stories Hotel and across the street from CBS Studios. Limited street meter parking. With a few outdoor seats and plenty of indoor seating it would be a nice place to work with your laptop while enjoying a drink of coffee or wine! There's a wall showcasing bottles of wines behind the coffee counter. I stopped in to try their coffee and the list shows a oaxacan mocha latte, which was new to Me, so I ordered it with iced with oat milk. The pastries were labeled vegan but none gluten free. The food menu had so many crossed out items apparently not available, was a turn off. I had my furbaby who was looking thirsty so I ordered a bottle water. The female barista was not cordial or efficient, especially since there was no other customers on a late afternoon, she was sloth slow. Perhaps she needed some caffeine to jolt her energy and demeanor. The female barista didn't want to acknowledge Me. For no reason and unprovoked, I sensed hostility and negative energy from her ...bizarre and weird :/ which would have earned a zero star! A male staffer came out of nowhere with a bowl of water for my doggy. I thanked him for his effort and initiative but told him I just ordered bottle water because my dog only drinks filtered water. My iced coffee was ready but I had to wait beyond a reasonable time for bottle water which doesn't require preparing?! When the bottle water finally was placed on the counter, it was a small plastic bottle water and it cost unreasonably high $$$ to which I said, I'll pass, I'll be back home in 5 minutes and my dog can have plenty of better water and it's alkaline. The Oaxacan mocha oat milk latte didn't have a WOW taste I was hoping for, unlike a Spanish latte does, I also didn't feel comfortable drinking it from the female staffer who exhibited negative energy towards Me and the coffee and it's contents are suspect. Staffer didn't have gloves while preparing my drink and she touched many other things... the oaxacan chocolate latte had to be trashed :( My generous 2 star is for the new space available in the area and for the male staffer who showed initiative with offering water and kindness towards my dog. If only his coworker would exhibit cordial and positive energy, perhaps this empty cafe would be filled with customers!

Yelp
Was looking forward to an afternoon of work here after reading the reviews, and I finally made it. It was very nice. My latte was tasty (they offer oat milk) The space was nice, quiet, and perfect for setting up to work for an hr or two. I will say the food and pastry that I did try was nothing to write home about. The poached eggs were a little bland, and overall I didn't think the plate paired well. Price point for one person was between $25-35 (coffee & a meal), which felt a bit over the top, but since I took up a table for 1.5-2 hrs, it wasn't the end of the world. I do plan on returning and giving the evening cuisine a try!

Yelp
First time here! Was searching for a cozy and cute place to work during these LA showers. Manna is clean, warm, and peaceful with lots of different seating options- and outlets I ordered the Oaxacan hot chocolate with oatmilk and espresso, it was heavenly. I tried the lox bagel and it was a lox bagel. Nothing to write home about but tasted fresh. The staff was very kind and seemed really happy to be here, which always enhances the atmosphere. Great place to stop by for a cafecito or to do a little work. I parked at the meters on 1st.

Yelp
Big fan of Manna Cafe! The restaurant is situated on the corner of Fairfax. I got the breakfast sandwich, and it was incredible. The cheese was literally melting off of the patty. The service was truly so warm and attentive. I really felt welcomed and almost like I was at a family members house. I take pride in good service, but this was next level. The overall ambiance of the cafe was so modern and relaxed. I would definitely come back here to get some work done and have some breakfast/coffee.

Yelp
Delicious drinks and draanks Mouth watering food Friendly service from staff and owners ‍‍ Come here for a date, hangout with friends, or work remotely. Whatever your vibe is, this is the place. I try to come here whenever I'm in the area. Since the first time we visited, the hubs and I fell in love with everything here. The concept of coffee, wine, and beer in one place at anytime of day is what first attracted us and we keep coming back because it's just that good. We have yet to try something on their menu we don't like. Personally, I love all their egg dishes and their double chai latte. However, you HAVE to try their Oaxacan hot chocolate (with regular milk) . It's exquisite. #takeallmymoney Aside from the quality food and drinks, I love the hospitality and appreciate the work ethic of the owners the most. Rarely do I dine somewhere where the owners are present, taking orders, and busing tables. Or take the time to converse with their customers. At Manna, Isaac and Johnny don't shy away from doing everything their employees do and more. To me, this speaks volumes of them and the business they are running. Definitely worth the trek from wherever you visit from.

Yelp
Best new coffee shop in the area! The food and drinks are great (we love the Oaxacan latte and brisket sandwich in particular). Prices are pretty decent too. There is always seating available and it's a great place to hang out and socialize or get some work/studying done. I really appreciate that the inside is always super clean. Music is classy and not too loud. They also have a lot of outdoor seating available on the sidewalk. One negative about this place is the lack of parking, which can definitely be a challenge. It might be possible to park across the street at the farmers market.

Yelp
I love a cafe that serves warm dishes and not just pastries. Manna café is in the corner near the grove. I'm not sure about parking, but there are a lot of street parking nearby. I was impressed when I walked in! It's very spacious and clean. They offer games and warm blankets. They also have a large selection of wine, and on the weekends they have longer hours and a special menu. I was also told that you can rent out the space at the rooftop for events. The squash blossom omelette is a must I don't know what they put that in the sauce, but it is amazing! I also made a mistake by getting the date shake because it is so filling! I really enjoyed the salmon tartare whatever that purple sauce is amazing! Service there is amazing everyone is super friendly and super sweet

Yelp
Very slow service. They don't seem to cater to-go for coffee. I waited over 10 minutes for an iced cappuccino. It was busy for dine-in customers. It opened earlier this year. I probably wouldn't come back for to-go coffee. The iced cappuccino was good but had too much milk and was not worth $6.

Yelp
This is a beautiful coffee shop with excellent service. It is located a little up from The Grove on Fairfax. COFFEE/FOOD: Coffee was excellent and on par with LA prices ($5-6 for a small latte). I got the lavender latte and it was the perfect amount of sweetness. I also had a croissant ($5). The food items are a bit more pricy ($15 for avocado toast) but on par for LA and the location being so close to the grove. SERVICE: Excellent customer service. You order at the counter but there are also bidders who come around to clear your plates. Every workers ll was super nice and accommodating. I was sitting by myself and they still offered me a whole water jug and glass cup to pour from and brought it to me. This is above and beyond the service I receive from other coffee shops in LA, lol. ENVIRONMENT: Great lighting with large windows around the shop. There is plenty of seating with outlets near each table as far as J could see. There is free wifi. Music playing was standard coffee shop noise level. There are bathrooms! Overall great experience and I will be back!

Yelp
This oasis is directly across the street from Famers Market and CBS. Quiet place to work and chill.A wonderful wine list and fabulous salads and sandwiches. Hours are in flux soon to be open until 9 but now 7.They have a limited but terrific evening snacks thar can be complimented by the wines Check it out

Yelp
Gorgeous, airy, well planned cafe! With plentiful outlets (at almost every table), quick WiFi, and fantastic coffee beverages, this is a great cafe for work. Background music was instrumental and not too loud. Very modern and chic design. A little pricey, but nothing too abnormal for the area and to be expected considering the prime location and the fact they have an alcohol license. I will definitely be back!

Yelp
Great food, great service, and nice ambiance. What more could you ask for. If you're in the area, do yourself a favor and stop by. Menu options are unique, and the ingredients are fresh, so you'll surely find something you like!

Yelp
I went to Manna Cafe for brunch with friends on a Saturday, it was a great experience! We made a reservation, but we didn't really need it since there was no wait. Our server was very attentive and kind as well. The cafe is very cute, with both indoor and a couple of outdoor tables. Our drinks and food were delicious - my matcha latte was not too sweet, just the way I like it.
google avatar

Yelp
Didn't get to try it they're closed for renovation. I suggest the manager updates hours so customers don't waste their time

Yelp
Felt like a fraternity. Came here couple days ago. Coffee was good but was completely turned off with how careless and lazy the staff is. They were fooling around, on their phones and drinking on the job. One of the male employees (the one with a beard) was far too busy entertaining the female staff and seemed inappropriate. I've never seen staff drinking at a cafe of all places. Food was pretty good and the Oaxacan mocha was delicious but I can't see myself returning due to the lack of good hospitality.
google avatar

Shark B.

Yelp
The breakfast tacos were great, the molé poblano was the standout element. To accompany the food, I got an iced matcha latte with oat milk. However, it only tasted like oat milk, and if you blindfolded me, I'd say I was drinking a cup of iced oat milk. We also ordered a cinnamon bun that they forgot about, which the front of house then pulled out of the kitchen and were laughing about. That cinnamon bun looked like a hockey puck the way it was burnt. We ended up getting a blueberry muffin instead though that had a nice yummy crumb on top. Overall, not sure how often I'll go out of my way for, but I do see myself going back.

Yelp
I had lunch at Manna Café yesterday... Had no idea how wonderful everything was going to be presented and absolutely delicious food with a unique twist on classic favorites. I ordered the salad and grilled cheese sandwich. The grilled cheese was the best I've ever had, I had no idea you could put a spin on the classic grilled cheese and make it an incredible offering! It was by far the best I've ever had! The drinks look like cocktails, you just have to try it!
google avatar

Carroll S.

Yelp
Brand new but it feels like everybody there knows my name, wow! The coffee is bombastic on another planetary level! They serve wine as well and also FOOD! Real, made with love food! I went last night with my friend Sarah and was treated like a local celebrity by a wonderful employee and a super cool manager! I really felt like a local celebrity/at home. Look I haven't written a review in years, but the staff and vibes compelled me to drop a pin and gladly throw down 5 stars! Whomever did hiring for the owner nailed it it! They even laughed at my menu joke about the chilled tomato! "This tomato is chilled?" I asked "Yes" the staff replied "Like if I accidentally pronounced it Tuh Mah Toe, it would be like 'that's cool, I'm chilled.'" Go enjoy this place and feel less corporate BS vibes! They'll treat you like they know your name!

Yelp
New coffee shop right next to the grove! This place is bright and has the most amazing coffee and food! Can't wait to come back.

Yelp
Blown away by this neighborhood gem!! Everything we tried was an exceptional bite and we can't wait to go back and try more of these incredible dishes. We came away from the meal wanting both everyone in the world to find out about Manna, but also hoping we could always get a table no matter how popular it becomes. Service (Jesus) was exceptional and the natural wine was a fantastic compliment to dishes like bbq lamb riblets, spicy "esquite" mac & cheese, and some of the best wings I've had in recent times. Thanks for a great meal, Manna! We'll be back soon.

Yelp
We were driving by this place and decided to give it a try and let me say that it was a great call, we tried the Oaxacan Mocha Latte, Breakfast sandwich and the lox bagel and the food was delicious! Friendly staff and plenty of parking.

Yelp
My favorite coffee shop in LA. Great service, food menu offers solid brunch items to go with their amazing coffee.

Yelp
We drove up from San Diego for an LA tourist day with out of state family. We did the Tar Pits and the usuals. What we didn't expect was the awesome coffee shop which is now going to be on our "go to place" when we go to LA. Cute interior, super clean, friendly and attentive servers, and omg the food and coffees are to die for. We had the brisket sandwich on sour dough and my husband and I both agree; best brisket ever. My mom had the salmon and beet cream cheese open faced sandwich which was so delicious! My moms Italian friend had the gnocchi and said it was some of the best he's ever tasted. Casual fancy, price point worth the fresh fare. It's right across from the CBS studio so if you go early morning you'll probably have a crowd. Go here. Go here now. You won't regret it. I hate traffic but I'll come back all the way from San Diego. It's that good.

Alysha B.

Yelp
Great ambiance. Friendly staff and amazing food. Had the eggs in purgatory and spaghetti bolognese. Both were amazing.

Yelp
Awesome coffee shop. Really spacious, lots of seating and big tables, good coffee, fast Wi-fi, and open relatively late. Great place to do work.
google avatar

Mike R.

Yelp
This place is AMAZING. Not only do they make great coffee, their food is elevated. The atmosphere is excellent for a coffee shop to work or enjoy a meal. But the people working here make the difference. They are kind, helpful, patient, and treat you like they genuinely appreciate your business. I'm a regular traveler from out of town and will DEFINITELY be back.

Yelp
Amazing food. Great staff. Best place in LA for breakfast and lunch. Been here a dozen times. Had to post because it seems still like a hidden secret.

Yelp
Really good meal, wine and coffee) thank you. Very nice place. Great location, friendly staff)

Jennifer G.

Yelp
Finally a nongimicky coffee shop in the neighborhood where I can get a good latte past 6pm in a relaxing ambiance. I am very picky about my coffee shops and coffee as I have to drink two lattes at the start of my day. Besides the coffee being fabulous, there is ample indoor seating with electrical outlets. The space is very clean and looks like the staff and owners are making an effort to make this place a success.
google avatar

Liam H.

Yelp
I absolutely love this place. The vibe is sensational - the wood paneling, gentle lighting, comforting colors and excellent fonts - and the food is superb. I like the idea of coffee in the morning and wine in the evening, and the menu - which features a good blend of larger and smaller bites - complements the style well. Perhaps most importantly, the coffee is just perfect. The drip and the cappuccino coffee are rich and smooth, (thankfully) rejecting the trend of highly acidic roasts. Finally, I've spent the last few days sitting here to work and read, and every person working at Manna checked in, asked me about the volume of music and whether or not the lighting was good enough, and asked if I need anything. Manna is a welcome addition to the scene in LA. I *highly highly* recommend checking it out!

D P.

Yelp
Attended a private event here on a Friday evening. The event coordinator and all his staff were amazing and beyond friendly and accommodating. Their ambiance was fantastic and we could not ask for better service. Their food was delicious and super fresh. We ordered a variety of sandwiches and salads and can't decide which was a crowd fave as all appeared to be enjoyed equally. Can't wait to return!

S R.

Yelp
We just discovered this place in our neighborhood and so happy we did! So my fiancé and I had just eaten something so spicy at another restaurant nearby. Our mouths were on fire from the spice and stumbled upon Manna. The owner immediately helped us out with shots of milk to stop the spicy pain before we even ordered. Great customer service! Then the drinks... OMG!! Best lavender latte I've ever had and I've had quite a few. I did mine with almond milk and best almond milk froth hands down. My fiancés cap was fantastic as well. Not to mention how cute this place is! 10 out of 10 would recommend. Can't wait to come back and try the food. We're thinking breakfast tomorrow!

Syd R.

Yelp
It was my first time here this morning and it will be my new neighborhood go to spot. The baked goods are outstanding, coffee is awesome, and my pup loved her puppacino! They could not have been any nicer at Manna (really such great staff) and I am so happy to have them in the neighborhood!! Can't wait to come by for some wine! Really a great spot make sure to stop by!!

Yelp
we live around the corner, and have been a couple times since it just opened. super clean and spacious and a VERY smooth flat white! all the pastries are usually vegan and occasionally some are gluten free. also has wine and beer. good wifi. generally good work spot!

Yelp
Can't say enough good things about Manna Cafe! I took my dog to get her first puppuccino and she absolutely loved it:) The staff was super friendly and helpful and the coffee was yummy too! Will definitely be back
