A small place that doesn’t take reservations, but totally worth the wait for brunch. Service is very efficient and they turn over tables quickly, so even with a line the wait isn’t long. We had the Benny and full English and couldn’t resist following it up with a slice of their delicious cake (wish we had room to try them all!). Will definitely return next time we’re in York.

Went in for lunch which was delicious. Managed to get seated straight away. Menu on a blackboard on the wall, The Yorkshire Welsh rarebit was amazing as was the fruit scone. Staff were very attentive, friendly and polite. Although the restaurant was busy we didn’t feel rushed. Would highly recommend and will definitely be back when I visit York again.

I was recommended this place for tea and scones and it did not disappoint! Was welcomed by a lovely lady who took my order straight away. I ordered the fruit scone and the English Breakfast Tea. Probably the best scone I have had! Was light and crispy and tea was lovely. If I had time I would be back for seconds. The gentleman behind the counter (making the coffee and teas) was very nice, making sure I enjoyed my experience and having a little conversation with me.

Dear Googlers, York delivered two fabulous meals this weekend. The first, just written about was the Fox and Roman. Now, this cafe my wife has been following online for sometime. And, I have to say it was a pleasure. Locals queuing for a restaurant is the world's best recommendation. Anywhere where the locals eat, you should too. Funny listening to American cousins who didn't understand the menu and turned themselves away. Anyway. Yorkshire Rarebit. What can I say. A triumph of cheese on toast, with bacon. The tomato jam, yum! I did think about asking for brown sauce. The only place I've had such good rarebit is Terry's, Great Suffolk St in London. They put a duck egg on top. Back to Mannion. Coffee great. Made by someone whose not just stuffing hot water through the machine. Definitely care and attention. Service was good. Again York delivered on the genuine service. While Betty's maybe an institution, Mannion is the informal counter point. Go, choose off the boards and enjoy. C

First time in York, I should this cafe and it really didn't disappoint me. The scone here is freshly bake,it surprised me because the jam I put on was tomato jam. However it was delicious and l really love it So I highly recommend this place

Been visiting here since 2011 when it was originally a greengrocers. Every time I head to York I make Mansions my 'to go to place' for lunch or afternoon tea. The quality is sublime and portions are very generous. You will not be disappointed.

Definitely the best eggs Benedict I've ever had! Fantastic portions with incredibly fresh ingredients. This kitchen offers fast, efficient service with fresh ingredients. We visited on a weekday and despite being busy the staff were friendly and attentive. It makes such a difference to be valued as a new customer as much as it does to be as a regular. All elements of our visit we awesome, great food and great coffee. We will definitely be back!!
