Manoir de Surville, Eure, France - Explore & Book

"Ever wondered what it would be like to grow up in a rural 16th-century manor house in Normandy? Better ask Camille. She restored her childhood home into Manoir de Surville, a handsome, timber-framed hotel surrounded by green fields and apple trees. Camille and her Belgian husband Hugues still live on the estate with their 4 young daughters, and take gracious delight in sharing their beautiful family home. Blond-pine bookshelves line the library/lounge where a plump sofa and armchairs face an open brick fireplace; stone steps lead up to 11 immaculate and charming rooms, tucked beneath ancient wooden eaves. The feel is relaxed elegance, and all who've stayed say it's wonderfully quiet and warmly welcoming.Back downstairs, the modern restaurant serves superb multi-course suppers: seasonal dishes that are fresh and non-fussy. For explorers, the hotel is near historic chateaux, abbeys and gardens. Guests who prefer to linger can indulge in a massage and steam at the exquisite spa. Children love to play in the heated pool or roam the grounds by bike; couples may prefer a quiet game of backgammon and a glass of Calvados from the honesty bar. We think it all sounds blissful – so, à bientôt! Highs An excellent base for Normandy's historic chateaux, castles and quaint half-timbered townsJust 11 chic bedrooms, with flatscreen TVs, WiFi, bathrobes/slippers and luxurious Hermès productsGreen Key certified and impressively eco-friendly: rainwater harvesting, composting, geo/aero thermal energy, LED timed lighting and Tesla chargersDelicious seasonal dinners in the modern restaurant: the 4-course menu changes daily, ingredients are locally sourced and mostly organicKids love the heated swimming pool and giant Mikado set, and there's lots of baby kit for parents to borrow Lows No air con in the rooms, and little wardrobe/drawer spaceBreakfast isn't included in the rates and is a served Continental meal (no hot options); no lunches availableThe restaurant is only open for dinner Thurs-Sat, and holiday eves, except in July/Aug when it is open every evening except TuesA car is essential for excursions – taxis are expensive in this region, and there's no public transport" - Handpicked by our hotel experts

Manoir de Surville (Surville, Normandy) Verified Reviews | Tablet Hotels

"An enterprising young couple has turned their manor house in the heart of Normandy into a "home from home"! A 16C farmhouse, luxurious rooms (including two suites), some under the eaves, thick oak doors and Burgundy tiled floors set the scene. Market - fresh cuisine in the restaurant." - Tablet Hotels

A truly exceptional stay in the heart of Normandy. A beautifully restored private house and farm transformed into a charming hotel. Staying here feels like visiting an old, gracious French family — full of warmth, character, and authenticity. The setting is superb, the atmosphere genuinely welcoming, and the facilities are outstanding. A perfect blend of tradition, comfort, and hospitality. Dogs friendly!!!

The Manoir is set in well maintained grounds and provides a sense of tranquility and calm. Camille and Hugues provided a very warm welcome and were extremely helpful with suggestions of places to visit in the area. Our room was very comfortable with everything you would need and breakfast with local produce was perfect. We enjoyed being able to relax in the beautiful sitting room with the log fire, plenty of reading materials enjoying a gin and tonic! Would love to stay again.

We chose to stay at The Manoir du Surville as it was en route to our destination in France and also it was dog friendly. The hosts were so welcoming and relaxed, our dogs absolutely loved it as we did. There is a lovely big garden for them to enjoy, they were welcome in the dining room under the table. The bedroom had everything we needed and was very comfortable. Dinner was delicious as was breakfast and the owners were absolutely charming and friendly. It was so good we stayed with them again on our way home.

A lovely small hotel with only 11 rooms where the owners take great pride in ensuring their guests have a pleasant time.|The rooms are warm and comfortable. |There s nice living room with a fire to relax and have a drink, a heated pool and a wellness area. There s also the possibility to use some bikes.|Breakfast is typical French, starting with a local juice and then some sweet and/or salty.|If possible , you should really eat at their restaurant, there s only one fixed menu (plus a veggie option upon request) but it is definitely worthwhile: fresh, tasteful and beautiful. The owner also knows his wines, so you ll have plenty of quality bottles to choose from.|The location is a bit remote, so you ll need a car to visit the area.

We spent two nights at Manoir de Surville in July and we wish we could have stayed longer, and are already thinking about a return trip! Camille and Hugues have created a very special hotel here. So much thought has gone into this creation with many charming touches eg the picnic lunch you can order, the honesty bar in the lounge, the way breakfast is served and the most delicious set menu dinners!. We loved every minute of our stay and very much intend to return!

This was our tenth visit to Surville; we have been coming as a family at the start or end of summer almost since it opened. Camille and Hughes are charming, attentive, warm, funny hosts, and the manor buildings and rooms themselves are renovated and furnished with care and taste. What is makes it most special are the little touches like local produce, excellent wine and toasting marshmallows at the fire pit. It has been a place of happy summer memories for many years now and we hope it will be for many more.

We spent 1 night here and it was a really lovely treat at the beginning of our trip. Tired on arrival, a peaceful swim in the beautiful (heated) pool before a fabulous dinner and a very comfortable nights sleep was just what we needed

We stayed 5 nights at this beautiful and historic Manoir. Camille and Hugues are excellent hosts, they and their staff looked after us so well. Nothing was too much trouble. The cuisine is outstandingly good, the choice if menu imaginative and well presented. This was our first visit, we will definitely be back
