For the price paid, the service was exceptional. Note, however, that there are two areas in the whole city where there are standards and safety is greater. Manso boutique is located on the waterfront in the old historic district. For two or three blocks this area is fine, but thereafter it changes for the worse. The other district is north of the airport and bus terminal - the best area of the city so I've heard. The former requires a taxi as the distance is far from your arrival point. Uber taxis were sub $3 each way in the evening and $4 is the average. ||Manso guesthouse itself has a sea view and a secure door lock. A balcony is present and food and drinks are available at reasonable prices. The WiFi wasn't great at all, and the shower was only warm (though refreshing as Guayaquil is very humid), but I was given a spacious twin room (though I booked a dormitory) and the included breakfast was a nice touch consisting of egg, fruit, juice, coffee and other things. The staff were friendly, the cleanliness was good and the decor stylish. Would recommend if you wish to visit the area 110%, though stay north of the terminal if your trip is brief.

Had a great stay here. It’s right by the malecon. I was here during a curfew period because of internal conflict. The surrounding area was really quiet after office and business closed at 6pm. I strolled the quiet malecon and also went to a rock bar and met some great people. We had some drinks and they were awesome. The room doesn’t have a locker. It had breakfast included and it was good. There’s a nice balcony to sit and have coffee and breakfast. The staff person was very kind, helpful and got me checked in quickly.

Good hotel for a few days in clean and safe location of Guayaquil, opposite the malecon- excellent staff and service. However the rooms do not look like the pictures, and are much older condition. Also the hotel is located 3 floors high and lots of steps to climb. If you are okay climbing stairs for a few days, hotel may work well for you.

This is a well run and friendly place, with more of a hostel vibe (and prices to match) than the boutique guesthouse the name suggests. We had a very large double room overlooking the main road and, beyond that, the malecón. Definitely well situated for restaurants and the waterfront. Rooms at the back are probably quieter. Breakfast was fine, tea/coffee, fruit, scrambled egg and bread. Liz on the front desk was really helpful and friendly.

Stayed here for one night after getting off the plane. Wanted somewhere low price and close to the action before I got an Airbnb. Room was decent and staff helpful. Can be noisy if you're facing the river because of traffic. Vegetarian restaurant inside.

The place is the best location you can be in Guayaquil, safe and close to the most of the attractions. The rooms are clean and with AC, nice breakfast served at the balcony facing the park. The staff are very focused on keeping their life busy and cheerful among them, they don't greet you, try to be nice or friendly, most of the time they look at the floor to avoid you, this is not exactly the type of environment you look for when you are a guest.

The pictures in booking and what you actually get it's completely different. The room was so dark, had a smell and directly in front are the rubbish bins. I have booked according to the photos which where shown in my room selection in booking a nice dorm. But got a dark room with no windows and it even wasn't a dorm. Staff is friendly tough. Common areas looks nice but that's all.

We stayed here on the recommendation of our travel book and the positive reviews online. What a huge mistake. First, they made us pay in full for our whole stay of two nights up front. This is probably because when people see their rooms they run away and want their money back. This is what we did. After about 20 minutes we left and checked in at a hotel for roughly the same price as we paid here. We received much higher value at our new accommodations.||Our room at Manso was an interior room with private bath. It smelled dank and old. The sheets were covered in stains. The whole floor had 20 year old backpackers passed out on couches which were also covered in stains. We are in our mid 30s and don’t mind staying at modest accommodations, but this place is misrepresenting itself. We have stayed in other Ecuadorian hostals which were incredible. This place calls itself “hostal” when it really is a “hostel” despite what Manso says in replies to comments here. The rooms are way overpriced compared to what we paid elsewhere in the country and in Guayaquil itself.||The Wifi was basically non-existent and could not load a basic webpage within 5 minutes. The “free” breakfast is a banana and some white bread. Anything more requires payment. Laundry was overpriced and they did not fold our clothes or even turn them right side out. Basically stuffed everything back in a small bag. Bathroom door did not latch closed. Lunch was delicious but overpriced for what we have eaten elsewhere. Most of the staff at the front desk were too busy texting on their phones they or kissing their boyfriends to pay any attention to guests. ||Only good thing about this place is the location, working AC, and free water.
